After searching for and trying out quite a few different resources for learning Vietnamese, with emphasis on the Southern accent, I eventually arrived at SVFF. Three to four months later, I'm convinced that I made the right choice, and that SVFF has the most accessible and extensive materials to offer. Their online textbook is fairly rigorous and features plenty of audio examples, conversation videos and activities. It also seems like they are continuously improving or extending the material. For absolute beginners, SVFF starts with a focus entirely on pronunciation, which has been a great introduction to the language, as its sounds and tonal aspects are bound to be a stumbling block for most learners.
My teacher, Minh Trang, has been a terrific guide through the pronunciation section and the beginner materials. She has been patient and understanding, but also willing to point out when my pronunciation is unclear, which I appreciate. She has always been well prepared for lessons, brings a positive attitude, and has taken the effort to create some extra materials outside of the textbook for me. It's also worth noting that here English skills are great, which helps when it comes to explaining nuances in the language or cultural aspects in Vietnam. Overall, a great experience in starting to learn a tough language.

My tutor, Minh Trang is awesome at explaining the basic structure of Vietnamese grammar and pronunciation of the different tones. She is very detail oriented in teaching the differences between formal vs what Southern Vietnamese locals use in their daily lives. I appreciate the cultural and historical lessons as well because it goes back to my roots and heritage.

I've been learning Vietnamese with Miss Thảo Nguyên for about a month and a half and it has been a fantastic experience so far! Although I know basic Vietnamese, I didn't have a strong foundation as I never learned the alphabet, tones, etc. as a child and I wanted to improve my Vietnamese. After a few months of trying to learn independently, I decided to do the trial lesson with SVFF to see if this would be more beneficial and it has been!
Miss Thảo Nguyên is an amazing teacher who makes the lessons fun and applicable to real-life conversations. She is also patient with me as I have difficulties pronouncing certain sounds and has given me helpful tips that have helped me get better. Having someone who can correct my pronunciation or sentence structure instantly has been super helpful in improving my skills and I look forward to taking more classes.

I've been taking Vietnamese lessons with SVFF over the past few months, and the experience has been excellent. I spoke Vietnamese when I was younger and am now relearning, and my instructor, Minh Trang, has been amazing. She is patient, connects lessons to real-life situations, and provides valuable cultural insights, from holidays to everyday life in Vietnam. Due to work, I've had to pause for a bit, but I’m really looking forward to resuming our lessons this weekend. I would 100% recommend this program to anyone looking for a great learning experience with a fantastic teacher.

I would highly recommend SVFF to anyone looking to learn Vietnamese (Southern Accent). The course material is fun, interactive, & well thought out. Minh Trang is a good tutor, who makes learning the language easy.

The SVFF system and courses offer a wealth of material to dive into. I'm an absolute beginner with no real background in the language and love the way they've structured the lessons and how they build on one another.
It may not work for everyone, but starting first by learning pronunciations, tones, and reading, has built a strong foundation that's allowed me to see or even hear a word (in a lesson or in real life with native speakers and business names/menus) and be able to break it down prior to even knowing the meaning. The actual website and textbook has a lot of tools for bettering your understanding, listening, and pronunciation. I actually think that when you look at the "textbook" page it's easy to undervalue what you're seeing, but the top navigation bar alone holds 3 or 4 resources for vocabulary building along with proper pronunciations. The left side navigation bar then has another 2 or 3 resources, as does the right side bar, with the actual lesson content making up with center of the page. So that single lesson page has a ton of value packed into it with audio, video, dictionaries, pictographic explanations, crosswords (among other language useful games), and the actual lesson itself.
My teacher is Miss Thảo Tâm (Cô Thảo Tâm) and she has extreme levels of patience because I slaughter Vietnamese pronunciations constantly. She's great in personalizing the lessons to what I need to work on, answering questions that I have that are ancillary to the lesson, explaining the "why" of particular language usage, and not letting me be lazy. She's also been diligent in explaining the differences between the pronunciations when reading (reading pronunciations can differ from spoken), and Northern vs Southern dialects (I'm learning the Southern dialect but still need to be aware of Northern differences). I'm not sure if all the teachers are as well prepared and insightful, but it goes a long way to helping me reach my language goals. There have even been times when I'm with relatives and have messaged her on Skype to help me with being able to say a word or phrase.
I speak 2 other languages (Japanese and some basic Spanish), but Vietnamese is a completely different ballgame and so far I'm definitely seeing great progress via SVFF and it's noticeable when interacting with friends and family. I was skeptical about not having an in-person lesson (since I'm not located in Vietnam), but so far so good.

I started learning about 5 months ago with Cô Tâm, and it's been night and day. I improved so much, and I am still learning every day.
As a kid, I didn't really learn the basics, so Cô Tâm was helpful in building that foundation with me. I am able to communicate with my loved ones, and I can tell my family is so happy to be able to speak and write with me in their mother tongue. I am happy too.
Cô Tâm is great teacher. She is really engaging, and she helped me go from being shy to being confident when speaking Vietnamese. That made a big difference. I really like the textbook and all the interactive activities. It definitely helps with my learning!
One thing I would love to see is a way to interact with other students online like a Discord channel. I have family that speaks to me in Vietnamese, but I would love to talk with other learners. I think it would be fun!

I am 3 lessons in and have had a phenomenal time learning Vietnamese with Mr.Hiệp Mậu. The team at SVFF has been responsive and helpful. I have enjoyed the 1-on-1 guidance and have found no better source to learn Vietnamese.

I have been learning Vietnamese with cô Thảo Nguyên at SVFF for about a month and just finished Unit 0. From the very first lesson, Nguyen has been fun, friendly and patient with me as I begin my journey to becoming fluent in Vietnamese. In addition to the textbook curriculum, she also helps me understand Vietnamese culture including the foods and holidays.
Each lesson typically starts with a review of the prior lesson, which is a great way for me to test how much of my studying I’ve retained and learned since the last lesson. As we transition into the lesson’s theory, she makes sure we are learning at a pace most suitable to my learning style. She always provides me ample time to ask questions and reviews each subject until I understand it. Lessons are typically concluded with a few different games and quizzes which are both fun and educational, allowing me to practice and reinforce what was learned throughout the lesson.
Overall, cô Thảo Nguyên is just what I was looking for when I signed up for SVFF and has certainly exceeded my expectations. However, the SVFF program has also been really good. The curriculum, video demonstrations, and mini-quizzes are all extremely helpful in my learning. I searched for several months to find a comprehensive study tool to help me better learn Vietnamese, and SVFF has put together just that. The textbook and learning curriculum is solid, starting off with the basic vowel and consonant sounds and clusters, providing me the necessary tools to learn, read, and even write words I have yet to learn. Needless to say, I am extremely grateful for this program and the teacher I have, and I cannot wait to continue on in my learning!

I have been learning Vietnamese with cô Thảo Nguyên at SVFF for about a month. I specifically searched for a teacher who spoke the Hue dialect. Cô Nguyên is friendly, patient, and passionate teacher who brings energy and joy to every lesson. During lessons, she will check in to make sure we are going at the right pace and ask for feedback for future lessons. I appreciate that we work through the SVFF curriculum together thoroughly because it is well designed. It helps me slowly develop fluency without becoming overwhelmed. I have tried almost every kind of program out there and worked with other tutors, and I believe SVFF is a great learning environment.

I have been learning Vietnamese with SVFF for about 4 months with Cô Thảo Nguyên. My experience with Cô Nguyên has been great! As a Vietnamese person who did not learn the language formally, Cô Nguyên has been patient and tries to understand my experience and background in order to help me better learn the language.
SVFF has many teachers and options to learn Vietnamese but the main reason I selected SVFF is because Cô Nguyên can teach the Huế dialect. This gave me the opportunity to learn southern Vietnamese, as it is a common way to speak, and the nuances of the Huế dialect.

I started learning with Miss Thảo Nguyên and SVFF a few weeks ago, and I have loved it so far! She is so kind, funny, and patient. She is also very flexible and works with my crazy schedule and the holidays. I look forward to every lesson and have been so excited to continue learning Vietnamese with her. After the free 30-minute trial, I immediately went and bought a large package of lessons! Thank you Cô Nguyên and SVFF!

SVFF is in my opinion the best resource for learning Vietnamese on the internet. Mr The Phi has been making videos on a constant basis for years (check out their YT channel) and has compiled a collection of hundreds of videos on learning everything about Vietnamese. They have learning materials from every kind of angle from videos, podcasts, roleplay conversations, audio lessons and so on, as not everyone learns in the same way.. so I guarantee that SVFF has something for you that will enable you to learn Vietnamese quickly, effectively and in a fun way.
My teacher at SVFF, Ms Minh Trang is also brilliant. It seems that SVFF has an eye for talent as I tried learning Vietnamese with another school before but I could never find a good teacher. However learning Vietnamese with Ms. Trang is really enjoyable, she's got a great personality, lot's of energy and she goes out of her way to provide engaging lessons. She makes her own games and lessons to supplement the SVFF material and I really feel like it levels up the lessons in a big way.
I recently took a 2 week holiday to Vietnam and I really surprised myself with my Vietnamese level. I've only been studying Vnese with SVFF for 4 or 5 months and Ms. Trang often tells me I'm good but I didn't have much confidence in myself but when I went to VN I could hold basic conversations with people AND they could understand me! I'm so happy about that, and I give all credit to Ms. Trang and SVFF for helping me level up my Vietnamese.

Been learning with Ms. Minh Trang for about 10 weeks and I have improved a lot in my Vietnamese. Her lessons are fun and I learn about the culture a lot. I can read and write pretty well, and my listening and speaking is coming along. I can even eavesdrop on my girlfriend and her mom talking about me sometimes (only good things).

I’ve been learning Vietnamese with SVFF, and my teacher Minh Trang has been absolutely amazing! SVFF offers a wealth of high-quality learning content on their website and YouTube, which makes it easy to practice and improve. Minh Trang is incredibly patient and tailors her teaching to help me strengthen my weak points in the language. Thanks to her support and the fantastic resources, I’m making great progress. Highly recommend SVFF to anyone wanting to learn Vietnamese!

Since June, have been learning with SVFF with Teacher Minh Trang, who patiently guided me to speak and write in southern Vietnamese. Learning new languages became so much fun that a teacher from another country could explain things well in English and translate them for a non-native speaker to learn this new language. Thanks to SVFF curriculum for beginners can learn with ease.
