Resolved issue efficiently

the software always struggles on linux. this time it didnt work at all and i had to find a windows pc

Tax Return time !! So no time to say it is good in parts !!

Issues getting into the application and flagged up some months ago. In January which is busiest time and an hour or so to reboot machine is far from ideal.

I was happy with the response from The taxcalc team. I was able to solve the issue I had logging into the HMRC self assessment filing site.

The completed forms would not file. It also should be clearer that you have to do any updates and purchase the new year package before filling in the forms. I had to do it all 3 times!!

No reflection on the support techs who tried to cover the problem, there is something in the programme which needs to be looked at as this is quite explicit and technical and not an everday occurance relating to completion of CG452EG Gains on excluded indexed securities - details of which are included in the relevant sections. I was not comfortable using 'Forms Mode' as capital losses could be overlooked.

I've been using TaxCalc for many years, sometimes doing as many as four tax returns for various family members each year. The user interface is a little dated and possibly confusing for new users, but as a tool for getting a job done, it works. I recently needed to ask for some help from their support team and I got an answer the next day which solved my problem. Altogether, a great product which makes online SA filing a breeze.

Simple Steps makes filling in the self assessment relatively easy. Being able to make notes with each entry makes comparison year to year simpler.
I had a problem with entering the very long name of my employer in a part time employment and had to refer to Taxcalc help. The information I entered was acquired from Fetch so it should have been ok but was not accepted in that overlong form and had to be shortened. Before I could do that the error notices needed to be removed. a bit of an unnecessary fuss which could have been very trying if I had discovered this nearer the deadline. Can't this be fixed?

Had to phone support several times today, as I'd got a new Mac, and was having trouble re-installing the TaxCalc App 🙄 (mostly because I was being stupid!). Your advisors have the patience of saints - and the last lovely lady I spoke to, stayed on the phone with me until I'd actually done it properly!! Favourite software and advisors of the day - thanks!
