Doesn't respond when you have questions about your order

Incorrect result and nonchalant customer service!
I bought the family kit for inheritance conditions, specifically interested in the result of Birt-Hogg-Dube, as a radiologist had recently raised suspicions from viewing a chest x-ray. A BHD patient needs to be monitored I various ways annually as 30% of BHD ppl will get malignt kidney cancer (at a much younger age (-20) her age than kidney cancer average for non BHD patients. So monitoring is crucial.

The TellMeGen test came back negative for BHD. Which then led to an even bigger health scare as another strong option to my lung condition could be Tuberous sclerosis. But after months of test, via state health care, blood work came back positive for BHD and that is now my formal diagnosis.
TellMeGen does not claim to be a tool for diagnosis, and they clearly only test for the most common known mutations per condition, NOT ALL, and in my case with the BHD it seems to be a Scandinavian/European strand of the mutation that is not included in the TellMeGen test. Just an FYI.

But the reason why I write this negative review is mostly because when I reached out to TellmeGen to let them know that I have a BHD diagnosis and that their test clearly didn’t cover that mutation in their test, offering them more information so that they could include this into their test to avoid more ppl getting a false negative for BHD, not ever asking for a refund just offering information. They never responded. Which speaks volumes.

If you are worried about something and am looking for answers. This company is not the answer.

Scarily accurate and has made me have some thoughts about how hEDS (a condition I have) is presented in genes that are more general than other forms of EDS. Also, the genetic links to traits that link to autism is clear, again, in a generalised way but it is interesting to see it all in ine place. Also the pharmacology interactions were dead on the money and explain a lot.

I had a very pleasant experience with tellmegen! Not only were their instructions clear as day (my biggest fear was messing up getting my DNA to them) my DNA kit was received lightening fast by them. The results took a couple weeks, but I was sent an email about their completion. After logging in into my personal and secure account, I was able to pull up my results right away. They are VERY thorough, detailed and spot on from what I know from my personal family history. It was very interesting to learn about myself, which will help me be healthier in the future as I know what I am more prone to.

Delivered on time, easy instructions on a website, results provided in full and detailed form, easy to access and use.

I paid for the advanced analysis and supplied an intact raw data file from ancestry.com. They promised a 72 hour turnaround. A week later I had no results so I asked. They asked me to email the raw data file again. A week later still nothing and they had no idea what was holding it up. Finally, a week after that I reached out again and they told me the file isn't supported.

They left it at that. I had to then ask them for a refund.

Essentially, they would have taken my money and sat on it for weeks. It's only that I kept asking, that I was able to get them to agree to a refund.

At no point did they ever follow up on my enquiries.

It's very interesting to do, they provide comprehensive information and offer excellent customer service if you need it. Based on my experience, I highly recommend it.

I chose Tellmegen as it was a very comprehensive DNA test and a quick results. The customer service team was really efficient and friendly.

I purchased a full DNA report from this company. On the hereditary conditions, they stated I had a genetic disease which has an incredibly high rate of developing cancer at a young age. What makes this suspicious is they found a very large number of SNPs for this disease. I could not be alive and have this many pathogenic variants. Among these included duplicates in all of the specific genes. This means the same change occurs in my DNA two times, with many of them being the exact same variant, from both of my parents at the same time, which is statistically impossible.

My resulting report is deeply inaccurate and raises serious concerns about the credibility of their genetic analysis methods. Not to mention telling someone they have a very, very serious and scary health issue. When I attempted to contact them, they blamed me for falsifying the results! I wouldn't even know how to do this, let alone why would I ?

Run far away from this company.

The results arrived much earlier than announced (part of a strategy ?) and contained a wealth of information. They correctly identified and confirmed a number of health issues already known to me, which seems to indicate that the whole methodology must have some validity. The test provided a lot of new information, regarding potential health risks in the future, as well as conditions that are, on genetic grounds, unlikely to occur, which I found reassuring. I do not regret having taken the test and recommended it to my friends and relatives. Considering the amount of information I got, I think it was money well spent.
