Delay in credit refund at the end of contract, but after a quick call, Manny and the team sorting this for me straight away. Appreciate good customer service

About Bunch
Written by the company
Using innovative technology we are able to simplify people’s everyday lives by bunching ordinary, household bills into one platform and one monthly predictable bill.
We have created a selection of personalised packages to suit our differing customer needs. Meaning we’re able to help all our customers from students, to renters to homeowners.
Through our easy-to-use platform, customers are able to pick and choose what products they want to bunch into their package with options such as energy, super-fast broadband, water, contents insurance and lots more.
If our customers want to split their bills with other bill-payers they are able to do so (whether that be housemates or a partner). This allows our customers to have individual, personal liability and stops them being affected if others in the household have issues making payments. This helps to protect our customers and ultimately remove another layer of bill stress.
It’s important to us that our customers spend less time dealing with the hassle of bills and more time doing what they love. So at Bunch, we do all we can to make managing household finances easy.

A huge thank you to Safaa for helping me set up our utility contract with Bunch! Setting up bills for a new place can be super stressful, but Safaa was incredibly patient, took the time to explain every step clearly, and answered all of our questions without making us feel rushed. Truly fantastic customer service from start to finish!"Johnkennedy

SCAM ALERT
SCAM ALERT — STAY AWAY FROM THIS COMPANY!
Honestly, one of the worst energy companies I have ever dealt with. I have been trying to get away from Bunch for 2 YEARS, and somehow there is always another bill, another problem, or another amount they claim I still owe.
Yesterday, they took money from my account TWICE on the same day. After dealing with problems for two years, this was the final straw.
The customer service is absolutely terrible. It is extremely difficult to get hold of anyone, and when you finally do, actually getting the problem resolved feels impossible.
You keep paying, yet somehow they still claim you owe more money. The whole experience has been incredibly frustrating and, honestly, feels like a scam.
🚨 I strongly DO NOT recommend Bunch.

They never reply to emails!
I moved out of my old property 1 year ago. Bunch have been sending me weekly emails detailing an ‘outstanding balance’ following my final bill. My final bill was sent in 2025, I was in credit and refunded and no new updated bill has been sent to me.
It’s been several weeks since I emailed Bunch asking for the reasoning behind this but of course, you do not get a reply but continue to receive emails harassing you for money.
Despite how quickly they respond to negative reviews on here asking you to put a formal complaint in or to provide more info, they still don’t contact you. I put my ‘formal complaint in’ WEEKS ago, and provided info relating to my review weeks ago and still nothing.
I thought my nightmare with this company was over and I can’t believe they are contacting me with unexplained charges all this time later. I’ve asked for my data to be deleted from their system, and the automated reply email says someone will be in touch about my deletion request within 24 hours and that was weeks ago. It’s truly a joke of a service and I warn everyone to stay far away. Their service is immoral and deceptive, with exorbitant standing charges and months without receiving bills. Credit shows thousands of pounds and then suddenly shows barely anything in the matter of weeks!
Stop emailing me and delete my data from your system.

I think this is my 3rd review and the incompetence remains staggering, so after they decided we owe them substantial debit I called today to see what they would be willing to accept as a payment plan, only to be told that it was too little (even though the mistake was theres) and that the credit control team would send a courts summons
Also I am a vulnerable customer which they have been told numerous times including there CEO and this was never flagged.
So basically this company likes to bully vulnerable people as they did with me (not defamation cause it happened)
just so your media team can learn
Defamation is a false statement presented as a fact that harms a person's or business's reputation. It lowers a person in the view of others, causes people to avoid them, or exposes them to hatred, shame, or ridicule

Recent email regarding the company…
Recent email regarding the company trying to get money off me 2 years after I’ve left the property. They owed me 600 and now are asking for 500 back 2 years later based on random management fees and other such Randal excuses they can find.
Dear Bunch,
I am writing again 2 years on from my original complaint to formally escalate a serious, unresolved
issue regarding my account. Despite previously speaking with Kieanna, my concerns were ignored. I
have now received court warnings and threats of additional fees for home visits and late payments
regarding a property I have not lived in for over two years.
I require an urgent discussion to resolve the following discrepancies immediately:
1. Incorrect Bill Allocation: As a 12-month tenant (03/08/2024 to 02/08/2025), I should be responsible
for 50% of the total bill, with the remaining 50% split between the other tenants, Hanna (9 months) and
Callum (4 months). Instead, the current breakdown (Tennant 1: £32.45, Tennant 2: £44.70, Myself:
£532.90) forces me to pay over 87% of the total bill.
2. Unagreed Mid-Month Billing: We were never informed of or contractually agreed to mid-month
billing. Furthermore, this mid-month bill was only brought to our attention months after the tenancy
ended.
3. Unexplained Water and Management Fees: Unexplained water bills and management fees have
been added to my account after my tenancy ended. Your company is no longer in a contractual
agreement with me, making these charges invalid.
4. Incorrect Energy Estimates: I am being charged for increased energy estimates caused by usage
from subsequent tenants who moved in after my contract ended in August 2025.
5. Missing Account Credit: There is an unexplained discrepancy between the September 10th and
January 16th statements, where £197.56 in credit has disappeared from my account.
6. Contradictory Information: I was advised on August 17, 2026, that these are joint bills, which directly
contradicts the individual and disproportionate percentage split currently being demanded.
I have all supporting documentation ready and expect an urgent response to resolve this matter before
any further legal escalation occurs.

⭐ 0 star — Avoid if you haven’t signed up. Fight it if you already have.
UPDATE 25/08/26 - Please be aware that you CAN file a complaint with the Energy Ombudsman against the energy supplier Bunch signed you up with - It will probably be TRuEnergy! They are responsible for how Bunch handle your account as a Third Party Intermediary, and CAN be held accountable!
UPDATE 19/08/26: Bunch’s response below rather proves my point. After acknowledging the “lengthy process”, our “multiple” contacts and our “persistence”, they invite us to “reach out” if anything remains outstanding.
We have. Repeatedly. That’s rather the point.
And judging by the remarkably similar responses to other negative reviews, this is the most consistent Bunch have ever been!
**********************************************
If you haven’t signed up with Bunch yet, my advice based on our experience is simple:
DON’T. Arrange your utilities yourself and avoid this company.
If you’ve already signed up and you’re reading these reviews because you’re having problems with Bunch, then I hope our experience helps you.
Don’t give up. You can challenge them.
Our problems started after a young first-time renter was introduced to Bunch through the tenancy/home-moving process. What was presented as a free service to help arrange utilities resulted in an energy deal that they later became concerned about and asked for my help in understanding.
When I started looking into it, we found issues with how the service and energy deal had been sold, very high standing charges, exit fees, billing, cancellation and, eventually, problems when they tried to switch away.
Trying to sort it out became months of emails, contradictory information, disputed charges and frustrating complaint handling.
There were many points where it would have been easier just to accept what we were being told and give up.
But we didn’t.
We kept the emails. We took screenshots. We kept copies of bills. We obtained the original sales call through a Subject Access Request (SAR). We made a timeline and challenged things when what we were being told didn’t match the evidence we had.
One thing that may help other Bunch customers is understanding where TruEnergy fits into all of this.
Although everything was signed up to and managed through Bunch, the company actually supplying the gas and electricity was TruEnergy — the energy supplier Bunch had arranged.
That meant when the energy complaint couldn’t be resolved, it could be taken to the Energy Ombudsman against TruEnergy, even though so much of the customer experience and complaint handling had been through Bunch.
The Energy Ombudsman found in our favour.
TruEnergy was required to refund money, write off a further balance, remove disputed exit fees, pay £100 compensation and apologise.
TruEnergy appealed the Ombudsman’s decision.
The appeal was rejected.
Unfortunately, even winning at the Ombudsman hasn’t made getting everything resolved as straightforward as it should have been. Months after the first attempt to leave, we are still having to chase matters.
And that’s exactly why I’m writing this review.
If you’re currently dealing with Bunch and feel completely worn down by it, don’t assume that because they keep telling you something is correct, it necessarily is.
KEEP EVERYTHING.
My strongest advice would be to deal with important issues in writing rather than relying on telephone conversations, so you have a record of exactly what was said.
Screenshot your account regularly — believe me, details can change.
Download your bills.
Save every email.
If a telephone call is relevant, consider making a Subject Access Request (SAR) for the recording.
Keep a simple timeline of what happened and when.
And if something you’re told today contradicts something you were told previously, keep the evidence of both.
Don’t be confused or put off by the different company names involved either. If the problem relates to energy supplied through your Bunch account, find out who your actual energy supplier is and what independent complaint route is available to you.
Companies know their own systems and contracts better than most customers do. That imbalance can make you feel as though they must be right and that you’re wasting your time challenging them.
Our experience proved otherwise.
We questioned what we believed was wrong.
We gathered the evidence.
We took it to an independent Ombudsman.
AND WE WON.
So, after everything we’ve experienced, my advice is:
If you haven’t signed up with Bunch yet — DON’T!
If you’ve already signed up and something doesn’t seem right — QUESTION IT!
And if you’re already fighting them — KEEP GOING!
You don’t have to accept something simply because a company tells you it’s correct.
Don’t let a long, exhausting complaints process make you give up on a legitimate complaint.

My experience with The Bunch has been…
My experience with The Bunch has been horrendous throughout the nearly two years I was with them.
The only reason I stayed with The Bunch for as long as I did was because I had already experienced the problems around leaving and didn’t want to be hit with cancellation charges when I moved house. I was effectively stuck with them because of the cost of leaving.
When I eventually moved again, the same situation happened all over again.
I was told I could either continue paying for the property after moving out until my contract ended, pay £150 per fuel to cancel, or switch supplier during the final 49-day window. So despite moving house and no longer living at the property, I was being faced with hundreds of pounds in cancellation fees or being expected to continue paying for a property I had left.
Then, despite already paying nearly £200 a month, they decided to increase my payment to £254.83.
I contacted them repeatedly asking for information about my account and the payment increase. I sent email after email and chased the complaint multiple times. Weeks went by without a response.
Yet their automated systems had absolutely no problem sending me emails demanding that I update my payment details so they could take more money.
Eventually I was told the person dealing with my complaint had been on annual leave, which apparently meant my complaint could just sit unanswered for weeks.
When I finally switched supplier, I received a final bill showing I owed £714.09 after already paying nearly £200 a month.
I have now had to arrange a repayment plan to clear the balance.
And before anyone thinks this is simply a customer complaining about having to pay their energy bill — it isn’t. I completely accept that I have to pay for the energy I’ve actually used.
My issue is the horrendous communication, lack of transparency and customer service throughout my time with The Bunch.
I had virtually no useful information available through my account, no regular statements that I could access, and when I had questions about my account I couldn’t get a response. When I did finally get answers, I had already spent weeks chasing them.
The whole experience has been stressful, frustrating and completely unnecessary.
After nearly two years with The Bunch, I can honestly say I would never use them again.
If you’re considering signing up with them, my advice would be to seriously think twice. Make sure you keep your own records of everything, because my experience has been that you cannot rely on The Bunch to keep you properly informed.
1 star because I can’t give zero.

AVOID AT ALL COSTS!!!!!!!
AVOID AT ALL COSTS!!!!!!!
Please do not use this company.
I opened an account with them in May; the account was closed in September within the same year.
For a 2 bedroom protary we were paying £258.21 a month for electricity, gas, and water.
When we closed the account, we were told we would have to pay a termination fee (ok, not usual; a policy is a policy)
I believe this was £100; there was also one remaining bill left to be paid, but to my surprise we were in credit for nearly £900!!!
They looked into this and then said nope its actully £300 in credit. I didn't really care at this point; I was just glad to have some money back. I agreed with them to pay for the final bill and termination fee from the credit they owed me.
I received a refund and thought that was the end of it; no, they then contacted me a few months after (I believe this was in December) saying I owe them over £300...
I asked for proof of this, called several times, emailed back and forth to try and figure out how this can be.
I was told it was an admin mistake on their end and they would try to waive the "remaining bill"; of course, this didn't happen.
I have all emails as proof; every time I speak with someone, it's for a different reason as to why I owe this money.
I then decided to put in a formal complaint asking for proof of why I owe this and for the call recordings.
They sent me no proof other than a "this is an estimate" on what you owe us. I had a little look into this: what the average bill for water would cost between May and September, and it's roughly around half the amount they are asking for.
I have spoken to Continus AI emails, everytime i call, they have no idea what I'm talking about and have to explain everything again. I
I feel so sorry for the older generation, or without sound to harsh, the gullible bunch of people who just pay this kind of money without asking any questions.
I have been looking into this company for a while, and the BBC even wrote an article about them for this same thing.
Most of the reviews say the same thing: the account was closed, but people are still being billed.
This still isn't resolved, and I won't be giving up just yet.

Steer clear of this company, £197.50 gone missing from my grandsons account and they cannot provide an answer to where it has gone.
Yet they are threatening court action until the bill is paid in full.
Heed the warning avoid at your peril. They have no credit control with answers only threats

Unethical and Profiteering at Your Cost
Frankly unbelievable that they are allowed to operate as an energy billing service. If you want to be billed random amounts, with no ability to see how what your are using (even with a functional smart meter), then effectively back billed for the over inflated prices they lock you in secretly to - go ahead and sign up! Trusting them was a huge error. Switched and halved energy bills ever since and so no longer victim of their profiteering. This company is awful - even by energy standards.

Very disappointing experience – unresolved charges for over a year
I would not recommend this company based on my experience.
I moved out of the property around a year ago, yet I am still having to deal with issues regarding my account. After a lengthy discussion with their team, I was eventually provided with a Final Statement in March and we agreed on a four-month payment plan. I followed the agreed payment plan and paid the full amount on time, without any delays.
Despite this, I am now being told that there is still an outstanding balance on my account. I genuinely do not understand why, particularly when I have already fulfilled the payment plan that was agreed with the company.
What has been particularly frustrating throughout this process is the repeated unexplained charges, conflicting information, miscommunication between staff members, and the amount of time it has taken to resolve what should have been a straightforward matter.
I have remained polite and patient with the staff throughout, as I understand that individual members of staff may not be responsible for these issues. However, after a year of repeatedly having to deal with the same problem, my patience has run out.
This has been an unnecessarily stressful and frustrating experience. I hope the company can improve its communication, transparency and handling of customer accounts so that other customers do not have to go through the same experience.

Trying to get a refund as you charged…
Trying to get a refund as you charged 320 pounds. You didn't supply gas I've sorted myself you didn't supply broadband I supplied myself the electric is on a top up meter I've done the TV license myself and I canceled your plan with in the 14 day period when I brought up issues with the account you was unable to even give me straight answers at all I received an email telling me to "Google" the issue showing how incapable you are at dealing with things so I ask you with that level of incompetence and not supplying anything why have I not recieved my refund. So as a side note for anyone considering using these guys 1. Paying the bills yourself is cheaper. 2.sorting out the setup of your own connections is easy 3. If you have any issues just go to your supplier and they will sort it. If you intend on using bunch 1.will take a minimum of 2 working days just to get back to you 2. Won't give you answers as all they will do is go to the supplier something you can do your self 3.will charge you immediately and when you request a refund are dead silent it has been over a week since I sent my refund request and I've not even had a courtesy email so they we will look into it or even give me a reason for refusal. Absolutely rubbish do not trust them they are beyond useless and will charge you almost double of what your bills will actually cost you.

Got locked out of my account and have never been able to get back in the reset password function doesn’t work so the online account experience they promised was not delivered. I’ve had numerous final bills for different periods it’s a joke. I’ve just had another one 10 months after leaving them the advisor on the phone told me it was on my online account…#*#*#*! They will make your life harder at a time you already have lots on your plate. Do yourself a favour and sort your own bills.
