AVOID – ZERO CUSTOMER SERVICE AND POSSIBLE FRAUDULENT PRACTICES
UPDATE: after two months my credit card was able to get the money back for me. HIFI Cat just ignored me after I caught them out lying.
I have been actively pursuing a refund due to non delivery of an item from this poor excuse for a business since before Christmas. It seems like dragging out this process is a part of their business model, hoping to fatigue and stress customers out to the point that they will no longer pursue them.
Just before Christmas Yodel, my local courier, listed the item as delivered yet nothing had arrived. When I spoke to Yodel they confirmed in writing that they had no evidence of delivery (GPS, photo or a signature), and advised me to contact the seller. This is where the nightmare begun. Instead of taking me seriously they have repeatedly done this strange cycle of: 1) claiming delivery was made since Yodel says so (despite me emailing documented proof that it wasn't); 2) asking for increasingly more bizarre documents to prove it was never delivered (something not even possible); 3) promising a refund will be made by a certain date but then ignoring emails when I try to chase them up; 4) and then the very worst – lying about escalating a case with Yodel so a refund can be issued (Yodel just confirmed with me that although they did open a case 4 weeks ago, HIFI cat did not respond to them and continue to even ignore their emails).
This has been a complete nightmare so I have resorted to getting in touch with my credit card's fraud department so I can have the funds charged back. This is a lengthy and arduous process which can take months, all because HIFI Cat have used every trick up their sleeves to avoid paying a refund of just £56.00 for an item that was never even delivered.
I'm sure if you order from HIFI Cat there's a good chance you'll receive the item and be happy, but in the event something goes wrong I can guarantee you this company will put you through the same ordeal. I've come across others like myself who have been subjected to the same treatment. It's my opinion that this is a part of their business model to avoid losing out when deliveries are lost, and the time and energy I have had to put into this should be a warning to anyone thinking of buying from them.
And the sad thing is that they still refuse to refund me even after all this time! My best guess is that I'll have to wait for my credit card to get me my money back.
I don't throw the word 'fraudsters' around lightly but in HIFI Cats case it's well deserved.

I wanted to share my experience with HiFi Cat, which overall has been very positive and reassuring.
My journey started with an issue related to the Gustard U18, which ultimately didn’t integrate as expected within my system. Rather than treating this as a straightforward transaction, the team took the time to understand the broader context of my setup, my listening priorities, and the role the device was meant to play.
The issue was acknowledged early on and explained transparently, which I appreciated. Communication throughout was clear, responsive, and technically informed — never rushed or dismissive. Options were discussed openly, without pressure, and with a clear focus on finding the right solution rather than forcing a quick outcome.
The process did take longer than a straightforward resolution, mainly due to coordination with the manufacturer in China. That said, communication was consistent throughout, expectations were managed realistically, and the issue was followed through to a satisfactory resolution.
In the end, the solution was to move to the Gustard U26, which turned out to be the right choice. The time taken felt justified by the result.
