Exceptional Service

Having bought an EE Brake from these guys a few years back as they were one of the only places in the UK that actually stocked them, the service at the time was friendly, impeccable and it didn't occur to me to write a review because it was all so easy.

But after said brake broke (my fault I should add) this last weekend, the guys offered to take a look straight away and have been great at keeping me up to date. Not to mention fixing something my local bike shop just weren't sure how to approach without breaking it.

Essentially - Great Service, friendly, superb updates and regular contact and above all rare stock with the experience to fix it should anything go wrong.

Ordered a week ago

Ordered a week ago ( May 31st) took my money have not shipped anything , don’t answer my emails , I phoned ( which is pricey ) got put on hold then disconnected.
I have change this as I appreciate the contact from UBYK as of June 8th
I had used the web based contact on their website but I believe now that has not gone through as they never received my emails.

Don't bother with these people

Don't bother with these people. Their website will say your item is in stock, once you get an order you will get an email saying it's not in stock, it's a tactic to get your order. Customer service is rubbish as well.

Looking through our e-mail system I can see that it looks as though we have come back to you within a few hours of you e-mailing us, but huge apologies for not being able to get back to you quicker.
Occasionally some items do sell out, and we do have to e-mail customers to alert them which we did as soon as we realized that we wouldn’t be able to dispatch your order straight away.
Apologies as well for your payment failing, which meant that we couldn’t process your order. This is a pain when it happens as you then need to contact your card issuer or Paypal to ask them to release your funds to us.

A really user friendly website with a nice selection of goods. My experience is fast dispatch, and great costumer service. People that not only want to give you the best help, but also have a lot of knowledge when it comes go bikes. Will definitely shop here again, and will recommend to friends.

Great service - and personal contact

I ordered a complete bike. During the whole process I had email contact with the same person - which felt good. The total time from order to delivery was a bit longer than I had hoped for. But that was caused by missing components - and without me even asking, they upgraded to another component group and solved the problem without extra costs for me! That was a truly great service and when I sum it up: I am definitely a satisfied customer. I had to be patient, but once I received my bike I can only say; awesome bike and great service from Ubyk. Thanks a lot!

I'm very frustrated with Ubyk

I'm very frustrated with Ubyk, I ordered a set of Hope Tech 3 E4 front and rear brakes with rotors over a week ago. I spent quite a bit of money on these and over a week later I still have no shipping info and I've reached out to them twice with no response back. I understand that things take longer when shipping them overseas but it is unacceptable that they think they can take $400 of my money without sending me any shipping info or responding back to any of my questions.

Excellent customer service

Excellent customer service.
I'm really not a fan of mail order, but wouldn't hesitate to purchase from Ubyk again in the future. Rockshox seatpost came next day via DHL courier at no extra cost.
I dealt with Tom at the Oxford branch, and he reassured me item would be checked before despatch which I feel doesn't happen with most mail order companies after having to send a Rockshox seatpost back to another online mail order outlet. I don't give second chances when it comes to mail order so Ubyk have definitely won my vote for customer satisfaction.

Amazing price, bang on delivery. No fault found from me

Was searching for cheapest Brand X XL dropper, and found Ubyk at a ridiculous £98, which was at least £70 cheaper than almost anywhere else that I could find, with relatively inexpensive shipping to Switzerland.

After I hit order, with hindsight, I thought I'd better check out some reviews of this store as I had been a bit hasty, and low and behold I found many negative views posted below.

I was worried, but decided to give them benefit of the doubt. Sure enough, the post I ordered, correct specification, arrived at my door exactly 7 days after ordering. I am a happy camper, lets hope the post works out ok!

Horrible customer service. Still chasing a refund

Bought a pair of pedals in February. They sent the wrong ones. Made me post them back to them from Australia. Cost be $54 with insurance. Chased them for a month. No replacement. Then got a story that their supplier was out of stock. Then waited. Then gave them another week to send them. They didn't . Had to lodge a paypal dispute to get my money back. However they still won't give me my postage. lots of emails lots of excuses. Consistent with all the other 1* ratings here should have looked here first!

Hope Enduro wheelset

Dreadful ! 1 star is way to high ! Late sending out an off the shelf set of wheels which we’re supposedly in stock (clearly weren’t) then sent me the wrong ones whilst mine went for a trip to Scotland and back, They wouldn’t send out a new set although they were still shown in stock, I had to wait for mine to go back to Oxford and be re-sent out, in total 2 weeks for a pair of pre built in stock wheels ! Absolute joke ! I just wish these places were more honest about there stock! Always polite though for what it’s worth!

Communication trouble

Ordered a custom wheel built that was at a great price. I was told that due to the amount of orders there would be a delay in shipping, fair enough. I week went by so I tried contacting them through email & their contact form and got no response. I found a manager's email on this site the next day & got and finally answer to my question. I get the impression it's one of those places where the only person who knows what's going on isn't there as much. It was still a high quality build so I'm not going to be stingy with my score, I'd just like a little
more transparency.

I could have been very blunt and rude…

I could have been very blunt and rude and gave this company 1 star. However, the fact that the item arrived and it's the correct part warrants a 2 star. Just.
I'm afraid this negative review is very similar to quite a few others for this company.
I required a component for my new bike. I searched the regular cycle related websites. Ubyk was the cheapest. I have never ordered from Ubyk before but having seen adverts in various MTB magazines, I didn't think about doing a trustpilot review search prior to ordering.
Anyway. I ordered the component which clearly stated "In Stock". Fantastic.
It was only whilst having a beer that evening that I thought I'd do a quick check on other customers experiences with Ubyk.
Oh dear. Various reviews about items taking an age to arrive. Now. I'm the sort of person that will pay more for a component if it gets my bike back on the trails as quick as possible, hence, always choosing an item in stock over price. This was supposed to be a win win situation for me. Cheapest price and In Stock.
The following day, I made an inquisitive phone call to Ubyk to ensure that the item indeed was In Stock. I was told on the phone that indeed it was in stock and should be with me Thursday/Friday (the call was on Tuesday). AHH. Peace of mind there then. Until....
Ubyk allow you to check your orders online. Wednesday all day said Not Dispatched.
Thursday morning said Not Dispatched.
To rub salt in wounds, I had ordered 2 components from a company that sounds like Pain Distraction Michaels and another company that sounds like Tweets Michaels both the day after ordering from Ubyk. These items had already arrived and were fitted to my bike.
Anyway. I emailed Ubyk to see what the score was. I was told that due to the large possible configurations available with such a product, that it would take some time to dispatch.
Okay. I understand that but the website clearly stated In Stock. This is the reason I purchased from this company along with the price. Clearly, the item was not in stock.
Ubyk is not the only website to pull such stunts. My personal opinion on such techniques isn't printable for online reviews. It really does grate my cheese. Stating that an item is in stock, purely for custom.
There are a select few out there on the trails that admire their bikes. They prefer to talk about their bikes and polish them rather than ride them.
The majority though are real riders. When a component needs replaced, we want it fixed asap so we can get back on the trail. If it says in stock. We expect an email the next day saying it has been dispatched. Every other cycle shop seems to be able to get this right.
I'm sorry Ubyk, this was my first experience with a sale and it shall be my last. You can't advertise something for sale if you do not have it. If you don't have it, at least have it listed on the item page as such so we can look elsewhere and get riding again asap. You definitely can not say on the phone that an item is in stock and is on its way, having the cheek to give me an estimate delivery day when you don't even have it on your premises to send.

I ordered a Wolf Tooth Components Remote Lever - Sram Match Maker X…

I ordered a Wolf Tooth Components Remote Lever Sram Match Maker X on Wednesday afternoon, it arrived Friday morning as promised. I cannot thank Ubyk enough for their excellent service. Got back from a ride opened the front door and there was the package sat on the mat. The introductory discount was also a bonus and it worked out that the company are the cheapest in the UK for this part. All fitted, took a bit of working out how to ensure the cable worked efficiently as I had to remove the nipple from the cable to fit it correctly to the DVO Garnet dropper post. I read a lot of the reviews on Trust Pilot and initially dubious, however I worked in the Cycle industry for seven years and I am fully aware of what customers are like,we can be a funny lot to say the least. :-). Everyone makes mistakes, Ubyke always appear to take the time to reply and explain the situation, and rectify it as soon as possible to keep their customers happy. Given the Company Five ***** for their service, speed of delivery and follow up comment on instagram. Have a look on my insta for a picture of how its fitted if you are thinking of getting a replacement lever.

Great customer service

Bought a set of Hope wheels over the bank holiday weekend, the wheels arrived promptly, but on arrival it became evident I had made a mistake and ordered the wrong freehub. Spoke to Tom at Ubyk who was very good understanding. To get me out on the trails quicker Tom ordered up the correct freehub and popped it in the post. Within 4 days I was backnout and about, no hassle!

Use trusted vendors online.............

Do yourself a favour and skip any reviews with more than 2 stars, I gave Ubyk a chance and regretted it, On Sunday the 1st of April I placed my order for some 35mm clamp size Renthal handlebars, by the 3rd of April they even sent an email already making excuses for late delivery, the email stated
"Whilst we are hard at work here we are limited by our couriers and the post so your order may take slightly longer than usual to process", so already they are blaming their couriers and the postal service,
I did email Ubyk on Thursday the 5th of April for an update and received a reply from Richard stating
'The bars are in dispatch at the moment, and should leave us first thing tomorrow morning',
so there was no way they would be reaching me inside that week, so I asked for the order to be cancelled and a refund issued, to which I got a reply from Tom this time stating
'This item has been processed through our postage system so I can not cancel the order, However if you would like to return to us once they have arrived, you are more than welcome, your order will arrive to you within 1-4 working days',
......... strange how once I mentioned refund the handlebars were now in the postage system..... So fast forward to Monday 9th of April and the postman arrived, oh the joy as I unwrapped the handlebars
to put on a bike that was taking up space in my workshop only to find they had sent the wrong size! I ordered 35mm clamp size and they sent 31.8mm?? no quality control obviously in their dispatch department,
anyway I rang Ubyk, spoke to richard at 1127hrs on Monday, he said they would send the correct bars out ASAP, and today wednesday 11th of April again the postman arrived, and guess what........
........ they had sent the correct size, bars fitted, happy chappie and bike now out of the workshop space.

Moral of this story, save yourself the pain, use trusted vendors like CRC, Tredz, Cyclebarn or the cyclestore, but avoid Ubyk, I will be advising Orange riders and Orange MTB riders on facebook to avoid also,
hopefully save several thousand people a nightmare.

Thank you as well for you using far better language in it than you did to me on the phone on Monday. Whilst I totally understand your frustration at being sent the wrong bars, that was an error on our part which we apologise for, you swore at me in your first sentence to me and then carried on from there. You informed me that you would write a bad review on TrustPilot unless we put got you the correct bars. We got them to you by 11:33 on the day we promised, and yet later that same day you write a really bad review anyway. On our phone call on Monday you also wanted someone to drive to you that with the correct bars. Again huge apologies that we couldn’t do that for you, but we had to order the correct bars in for you, as we didn’t have them immediately available on the shelf, and got them to you in two days and six minutes after your phone call of you alerting us to the mistake.
We are all avid bike riders here, and no doubt would have been equally as frustrated as you were having received the wrong item meaning that we then couldn’t go out riding. We do care what we do, and care for our customers, as we share the same hobby. So it’s a huge shame that you have chosen to talk to someone the way you did when you called, and then written this damning review.
Again, huge apologies for the mistake.
