iDX kickstarter campaign
The way the iDX kickstarter campaign has been handled is an absolute shitshow. I went from an enthusiastic backer to someone who will never consider any ugreen product again in the future. You've shown your true colors after feeding us lie after lie and going back on your word.
Warning to potential customers, ugreen does NOT stand behind their words/promises.
Deceptive business practices
Deceptive business practices. Held a deposit program for a guaranteed release at a guaranteed price and changed terms, not only asking depositers to compete with open market but to provide a 40% additional cost which would be refunded at an undisclosed time.

Typical foreign scam company
Placed a deposit in good faith for a new product around a year in advance. The day before purchase Ugreen pulled the rug out from under deposit holders and they were not given a chance to purchase the unit at the agreed price. Rather Ugreen decided that holders needed to fight for a unit on a terrible kickstarter event. Which crashed and had no units available. Awesome.
I now have absolutely zero trust in the company. Any statement ugreen makes is only valid for that minute and not even then really. Betting security is a HUGE problem.

Terrible customer service/returns…
Terrible customer service/returns policy. Bought a power bank after being led to believe it was CCC compatible. It arrived only CE compatible and so useless. Trying to return the item is expensive and time consuming and customer service are obstructive and unhelpful (offering a $10 dollar gift card when I'm trying to return £70 worth of tech). Would never purchase again or recommend anyone else do so.

Ugreen (HK based) violated at least 3 Hong Kong laws.
Ugreen ignored their promise to they early birds and decided unilaterally to change the rules of the game DURING the game.
Sale of Goods Ordinance (Cap. 26):
A seller cannot unilaterally change core terms (price, priority, or allocation method) after the contract is formed without the buyer’s consent.
Unconscionable Contracts Ordinance (Cap. 458):
Unilateral Change of Terms After Confirmation Switching from “reserved early bird / confirmed purchase” to “first come, first served for anyone” is not allowed if no such reservation clause existed at the time.
Misrepresentation / False Description (Trade Descriptions Ordinance (Cap. 362)) / Misrepresentation Ordinance (Cap. 284):
Ugreen advertised “reserving secures the best available price” and “early bird” with priority, then later changed it, this is a breach of the Trade Descriptions Ordinance (Cap. 362) (false or misleading trade descriptions) and the Misrepresentation Ordinance (Cap. 284).
Ugreens T&C don't describe any of their done practices, nor a "Force Majeure".
I wonder if Ugreen contacted their lawyers before they decided to do this kickstarter thing and ignoring the "early birds" completely. Ignoring their promises (evidence available). Ignoring Hong Kong's laws.

I gave Ugreed a deposit to reserve a…
**Update** I secured my unit, I'm happy now**
I gave Ugreen a deposit to reserve a NAS months ago and when it's time to finally release the thing they apparently couldn't produce enough to even supply units to folks who reserved, so instead of making sure the early depositors get the product as they are produced they make them compete with bots and the general public on KICKSTARTER to procure what they already paid for. Absolutely the worse product launch I've ever been apart of.
Unreliable
Unreliable, so do not buy. No support or backing, the promise to help but in the end you are left.

Scam
I paied for a pre-order June 2025 now they release the Nas and I have to fight with the rest of the world for 280 units and ofc I didn't get one.
This was not the terms when they sold me the pre-order.
This is a scam and agains the laws in my country if you do not respond to my mail ill file a law suit.

Like many of the people here
Like many of the people here, we paid money to reserve a NAS at a discounted price a year in advance. The way this was sold to us was that we’d receive a special discount outside of the kickstarter campaign itself. Instead we got a week notice with changes only days in advance going back on the deal and making it a crazy spree of paying “extra” for the Nas with the promise of a “refund”.
Would you trust a company that does this to refund you? Would you trust a company like this with your data? The answer should be NO!
I won’t be trusting them with my money, that’s for sure!

Terrible company
Terrible company, they started kickstarter for new AI NAS but quickly closed it down without reach up to the max number of units they intended to get to. How can consumers trust a company like that?

Scammed by UGreen Kickstarter
I'll update my review if they honor the price I placed a deposit for, but as things currently stand, I'll never do business with this company again.

UGREEN IS A MESS
Completely agree, total shit show by UGREEN with the Kickstarter. I experienced the same and likewise I already had a deposit of $30 for the opportunity to purchase early. If they told me it was going to be for an opportunity to "maybe" buy on Kickstarter I wouldn't have made a deposit.

BIG SCAM
What you have pulled here is completely unacceptable – this is a scam. We waited a full year in advance and pre-ordered, and we as VIP customers didn't receive anything, while those who paid full price did. The whole thing played out like a scam, and we will file a class action lawsuit that will seriously burn your company. You don't do something like this. I spoke very highly of Ugreen, but unfortunately I no longer have any trust in the brand. Either you make sure that every VIP customer receives the NAS they wanted, or you refund everyone the full price of this entire NAS, because this is unacceptable – and it will cost you dearly.
Kind regards,

As a 'Super Early Bird' Offer
As a 'Super Early Bird' Offer, I made the $30 USD deposit for their soon-to-be-released AI NAS. However, the Company knowingly led us into an absolutely horrible experience on Kickstarter with a 'First-come-first-served' basis, which is not what was promised when they took my money! Its simply impossible to secure an unit on the Kickstarter page throughout their planned four wave release to enable early backers a chance to secure an unit. Buyers' beware! I will not be trusting this Company again and neither should you!

I can’t even describe how sad was new NAS launch…
I can’t even describe how sad and disappointed I am with how they treated the people who trusted their product.
I pre-ordered it by placing a deposit in July 2025 and was told that early backers would receive an individual purchase link once the product became available.
However, after many months of waiting, the policy was changed, and the device was instead offered publicly on a “first-come, first-served” basis.
Today I spent nearly two hours trying to purchase it on Kickstarter, but due to severe technical issues on the platform, it was simply impossible to complete the order.
As a result, despite supporting the project early and waiting for more than eight months, I had no real chance to buy the product.

A Masterclass in Alienating Your Customers
UGREEN’s iDX6011 Kickstarter is a Masterclass in Alienating Your Customers
It takes a lot of effort to take highly anticipated, genuinely powerful network-attached storage hardware and turn it into a public relations disaster, but UGREEN has managed to do exactly that with their recent iDX6011 AI NAS Kickstarter.
What should have been a straightforward product launch from an established company quickly devolved into a textbook example of "scarcity theater," bait-and-switch tactics, and a complete disregard for customer trust. If you are looking at diving into the UGREEN NAS ecosystem, here is why you might want to keep your wallet closed.
1. The $30 "Guarantee" That Wasn't
The core of the "scam" allegations stems from how UGREEN handled pre-orders. Customers were asked to put down a $30 deposit on UGREEN's website. The explicit implication of this deposit was that it guaranteed a private checkout link, a locked-in discount price, and a reserved unit.
Instead of honoring that agreement, UGREEN threw those deposit holders into a public Kickstarter funnel. Suddenly, the private checkout was gone, the guaranteed unit vanished, and backers were forced into a chaotic "wave scramble" competing against the general public just to secure the hardware they had already paid to reserve.
2. Dynamic Pricing and Scarcity Theater
Kickstarter is meant to fund concepts, not to act as a storefront for fully manufactured products from massive tech corporations. By using Kickstarter, UGREEN introduced timed waves, undisclosed stock levels, and "dynamic pricing."
If you didn't click fast enough during your assigned wave, the price of the unit you paid a deposit to reserve could suddenly jump. It felt less like buying a piece of prosumer IT equipment and more like trying to scalp concert tickets. For a home-lab community that values transparency, this blatant manipulation was a massive red flag.
3. The Refund "Tax"
When rightfully angry customers decided to wash their hands of the situation and request their $30 deposit back, UGREEN fumbled again. Standard e-commerce practice is to simply reverse the original transaction. Instead, UGREEN issued new $30 transactions based on the current daily exchange rate. For international buyers (especially those paying in Euros), this meant UGREEN pocketed the exchange rate difference, effectively charging users a fee to exit a botched pre-order system.
4. Overkill Hardware, Underbaked Execution
The tragic irony of this entire debacle is that the actual iDX6011 Pro hardware is incredibly powerful. With Intel Ultra processors, 64GB of RAM, and PCIe Gen 4 expansion, it is absolute overkill for standard home use. However, the software—specifically the highly touted "AI features"—still needs significant work. When you combine half-baked software with aggressively anti-consumer launch tactics, the high sticker price becomes impossible to justify.
The Verdict: UGREEN is a massive company that has no business using Kickstarter to manufacture hype and dodge standard retail accountability. The iDX6011 series might be packed with great hardware, but the company's bait-and-switch deposit scheme and chaotic fulfillment process make this a campaign to avoid.

I backed UGREEN’s Kickstarter campaign…
Until now they have promised to hold their word and give all bakers the opportunity to get their devices. I ordered one, so let's see if I will receive it!
Old text:
I backed UGREEN’s Kickstarter campaign for the iDX6011 Pro in good faith and even successfully pre-ordered the Pro model in advance. The whole point of that early reservation was to secure a fair chance to actually buy the product later.
Instead, the campaign turned into a complete mess. Even after having a successful pre-order, I was unable to place an order in any of the four sales waves. Not one. That makes the entire reservation process feel pointless and misleading.
UGREEN created expectations that early supporters would have a real opportunity to purchase the product, but in reality many of us were pushed into a chaotic, oversubscribed rush with no reliable access at all. If you take deposits and promote early access, you should be able to honor that in a transparent and fair way.
This campaign was badly managed, frustrating, and deeply disappointing. It damaged my trust in UGREEN as a company. I expected better treatment of early backers and loyal customers.
