Hi Patrick, apparently our online page for the item you ordered needs more clarity. We will work on that! Our records show you ordered a 24" piece but selected "Only ordering 3" sample" from the drop down. The program does not charge extra shipping for 3" samples. However, if you had selected "Combined TOTAL footage will be 2-5 feet. (We'll add $6 TOTAL to final invoice.)" then your online invoice would have correctly shown the additional $6 we called you about. What's this all about? The item you ordered is very heavy and therefore expensive to ship so we need to charge more than our regularly shipping if you only order a short piece. We apologize for not adequately explaining that to you when we call to clarify that you did indeed want a 24" piece and not a sample. Sincerely, The Folks at Vintage Woodworks

Fast delivery. First class products. Great craftsmanship. Even though my order was somewhat fragile and 80" long, it arrived in perfect condition, in spite of FedEx's efforts to completely destroy the packaging. I will be ordering from these folks again.

I purchased the PVC Sky Blue Beadboard. After ordering, Vintage Woodworks called and said the shipping would be almost half again what it said at check out. Ok..go ahead and ship. The material arrived with no shipping problems, but I was disappointed in the quality of the product. Some pieces were slightly warped and the color was not consistent. I used this in my bathroom so I was able to choose which pieces to put in corners and behind things to make the color variations less noticeable. On the plus side, installation was pretty easy. I did not bring any of these issues to Vintage Woodworks' attention because they were minor and I did not want to deal with shipping the pieces back. However, the quality just wasn't what I'd hoped for.

Waited for promised product for 4 plus weeks...I had to call numerous times for updates. I finally cancelled and receive product from Amazon in 4 days for almost half the price that I was charged by VW.
I had to push out my contractors numerous times. The final cancellation of my order was handled in a timely manner.

Update- They did resolve the shipping issue and I placed a larger order. I am hoping to change my review to a positive review. I will update regarding the shipping and setup once everything is completed.
Very disappointed.
I spent over two months researching porch parts, styles, and vendors. I own an 1894 Victorian in a registered historic neighborhood just outside of Philadelphia. My house has a wraparound porch with a little under 120 feet of porch railing. My research found that Vintage Woodworks was the most costly of all vendors but had the perfect rail kit. I did find the Balusters for a lot less ($12.90) from Mr. Spindle. Because I believe in measure twice and cut once, I placed a test order for one 10’ foot P3 Rail Set for $163.60. I understood Vintage Woodworks would charge and extra $10 for any order above 60” inches. The confirmation showed an additional shipping cost of $21.99, all of which I was fine with. After I place the order and received confirmation, I called Mr. Spindle and ordered 35 balusters with a custom notch at 120 degrees V notch to match the railing. They were great and only charged an extra .25 cents for the custom cut. Several hours later, I received a call from Vintage Woodworks that because of the length of the Rail Set they would have to charge me almost $200 extra for shipping. They told me that they could cut the rail in half and the shipping would be less than $50 but the order would not ship for a few weeks because it now not a standard item. Because I had already ordered the custom Balusters I had no choice but to reluctantly agree. My next step was to ask what the shipping cost would be for a full order of 11 10’ foot Rail Sets. The customer service rep could not give a coherent answer and said she would get back to me that day. I am still waiting. At this point, I cannot recommend Vintage Woodwork and would strongly urge any potential customer to shop around.

When you placed your online order, one of the drop down selections you chose indicated you had read the Important Shipping Info link from that page. The first paragraph of that page discusses the $10.50 shipping fee for items over 60". The second paragraph of that page says, "Additional Charges - Some orders may require additional shipping charges. If these are not specified at the product page, we will advise before finalizing your order."
It is not possible for us to accurately predict the total amount of shipping we will be charged by the carrier for shipping longer items until our shipping department has reviewed the order. Once we know that total, we only charge the difference between what was indicated online and what we will actually be charged to ship your order to you. This is what our Rep was trying to explain to you when we talked by phone.
The good news (we already sent a quote on the other Sets and called as well) is that the other Sets can be shipped for not much more than 1 Set, due to Motor Freight minimums.
