Relatively easy to book but unable to add a second driver

We had a terrible experience using this company. I had booked a 7 seater car with VIPCars.com for a family holiday a few weeks in advance. I noticed that the status of the booking was 'Awaiting confirmation' and after a week this had not changed so I reached out to the company to check whether the car had been reserved. I spoke to 'Molly Watson' on the live chat and she reassured me that the booking would be confirmed shortly. After 10 days the status had still not changed so I spoke to another individual and asked them for the number of the rental company so I could ask directly. They reassured me this was not necessary again and that the booking would be confirmed shortly. 5 days before my holiday I received an email saying that the car was not available, and there was only one alternative available, which was >£100 more expensive. Unfortunately at this point I could not rebook with any other companies due to the short notice. The car offered by VIPCars was of much lower quality than the one we originally selected but we had no choice but to accept. We asked for them to cover some of this cost as this was entirely their fault for failing to confirm the booking in advance - had we known we would have booked with a different company earlier on when alternative options and lower prices were still available.
VIPCars has no concern for their customers and are only interested in making as much money from them as possible. They failed to do their part and then asked as for more money to correct their mistake when there were no options left for us. I would urge you to avoid using this company and look for more reliable alternatives.
UPDATE: Having contacted the customer care department, the company expressed that this was a rare event. I appreciate their efforts to resolve the issue and offer compensation, and would use their services in the future

To start with, we booked car from Abu Dhabi airport but it was given to us in Raha Shopping Malls car park 10km away from it. There is no office for VIP cars in Abu Dhabi and all discussion took place in a Shopping Malls car park....shocking
Next, the car was given to us in absolutely dirty condition inside out. Inside was more awful as the seats had stains, spillage and the centre console had either milk or milkshake spilled all over it. The car was filthy inside and on the outside it needed a full wash because it was dirty with sand all over it.
Upon return, initially we were sent a text to hand it over to a driver in Abu Dhabi City and his number was sent to me via whatsapp. I replied that I booked it from the airport and I have a flight to catch so I got in touch with the same person who handed us the car and he asked us to meet in the Shopping Mall's Car Park again. Anyway as I reached there, a different driver arrived to collect the vehicle. I asked him to sign the handover paperwork to confirm that I was returning the car in good condition and without any damage. However, he declined, stating that the person who had originally delivered the vehicle to me would complete the documentation instead, and then left.
Shortly afterwards, the person who initially handed me the car arrived to collect the vehicle. I requested him to sign the paperwork confirming that the car had been returned in good condition. Despite my asking several times, he refused to do so. He then shut the driver's door while I was still speaking to him and gave me an angry look before leaving. I found his behaviour both discourteous and unprofessional.
As mentioned earlier when the vehicle was delivered to me on 22nd of July 2026, it was far from clean. It was dirty both inside and outside, and there were liquid spillages on the centre console. At the time, the person handing me the car asked me to have the vehicle washed at my own expense, which he estimated would cost around AED 30. As the vehicle had not been provided in a clean condition, I returned it in the same state. I do not believe it is reasonable to expect a customer to pay to clean a vehicle that was not clean when it was handed over.
Overall, this was a very disappointing and unprofessional experience. I have rented vehicles in the UAE on several occasions and have never encountered this level of poor customer service or such an unprofessional handover process.
I was sent messages from different UAE numbers whilst I was in Abu Dhabi, the process was vague, there is no office, handovers took place in Shopping Mall car parks, car was filthy, staff was impolite and payment transaction took place on WhatsApp links. No paperwork, no information if I have incurred any toll charges or not....simply thrre was no clarity.....Awful
I will rent from a reputable rental company but not VIP cars if I visit Abu Dhabi Again.

Booked Car through their Website, travelling from UK to Dubai with family and young kids. When arrived at Dubai with family and little kids, their agent sent message they do not have car available and they have already cancelled the booking without any contact from VIP cars. Contacted VIP cars and customer support said, they will contact their agent and contact me. After they made contact with their, VIP car said their agent has cancelled the booking because they do not have 7 seater available. It was around 11pm and they said they can not help any further and they will cancel the car. They have advertised bigger cars Cheaper online to attract/dodge customers , but after you get the destination, they will tell you the do not have have that car but smaller is available. Its my 2nd experience with VIP car. First they experience that texted one day before that they do not have the car i booked but have Smaller car and this time they booked the car cheaper online but then cancelled it without informing the customer.

price fluctuates every time you log on. Classic travel company tactic. Still came out cheapest though in all categories so can't complain too much. Shame to miss the initial price!

I had an appalling experience with VIP CARS and their local supplier G-Raffas ( or Optimo Rent which they say is his affiliate ) in Zanzibar. I booked a car along with additional insurance cover, but upon arrival, the vehicle was in a shocking, unsafe external condition. For the safety of my family, I refused to accept it.
The local supplier engaged in highly suspicious behavior: they demanded $40 USD for a driving permit (double the official government rate) and they wanted us to leave them 500€ cash for the security deposit as their card machine was allegedly "out of order ".
Yet, in their official report to VIP CARS, G-Raffas claimed both that "the client collected the car" and "the car was not provided". They also fabricated a ridiculous story about calling the police on a 62-year-old couple, when the two officers were already having a drink next door before we even arrived!
Despite providing VIP CARS with a 34-page dossier full of photographic evidence proving the car's state and the supplier's lies, their customer care specialists (including Nathan M., Sandy J., and eight others) completely ignored the facts, blindly backed their affiliate, and closed the case denying my refund.
VIP CARS is useless when it comes to resolving contract breaches. I am currently escalating this fraud to the Spanish Consumer Rights Authorities (OMIC), the Zanzibar Ministry of Tourism, and my bank for a chargeback. Avoid VIP CARS at all costs—they will leave you stranded and pocket your money!
