We needed a new reliable yet…

We needed a new reliable yet comprehensive payroll solution for our clients, as there were programming issues with the software we were using. I looked into a few programs, and Wagepoint stood out because it's highly rated and well spoken of. It has not disappointed! It's been easy to setup and learn, and the support - which is so important - has been really, really good!

Overall

Overall, it's a great service and helps make our payroll a seamless process. The only feature that we would like to see is more information on how taxes may affect payroll before going through the process of actually running payroll.

Otherwise, we love Wagepoint and feel very taken care of them.

I would give a 5star BUT if I have a…

I would give a 5star BUT if I have a problem on the day that I am doing payroll, I have no way of contacting and talking to someone right away to resolve the problem. Some times you can't wait a day or so because you will not be able to have payroll in on time.

Overall really good

Overall really good. Some minor hiccups with QuickBooks Online integrations from time-to-time, but they usually get solved pretty quickly.

Wagepoint is a fabulous program

Wagepoint is a fabulous program. The tech team seems really innovative in terms of how they quickly solve problems and develop solutions. I really, really miss calling and being able to speak to a person immediately. I've worked with Wagepoint since October 2019 and I believe they changed to a phone tree/answering system about 2 years ago. At several point, I've voiced my concerns about the phone tree/answering system and how it doesn't work well for a PT staffer like myself. I hate having to go through a phone tree, enter a bunch of information through the keypad, then only to be asked a series of the same questions by the answering service and only then have an email ticket created with my issue in a generalized way. Once, I was told Wagepoint was going to go back to having its team members answering the phone directly again. I strongly urge you to at least streamline the phone tree/answering system if you must continue to use it. It's clunky and unpleasant to use. I will say that Wagepoint is pretty quick about answering questions and the information that the team has is of the highest quality, unlike other softwares I use where i chat in to support and the team never understands the issues I am experiencing or how to solve them.

Reports are very weak

Reports are very weak. You can't combine pay periods into one report without a lot of manipulation which leaves a lot of room for errors. Standard reports for BC are not available, WSBC and EHT.
The report to preview payroll before it's submitted to check for errors is useless.

Decent solution with room for improvement

Wagepoint has been basically a solid payroll partner. There have been a couple of hiccups, though, that are troublesome.

First off the Temporary Wage Subsidy was originally calculated correctly until fully used, then some adjustment later in the year confused things, and never did get properly sorted out.

Second, there is supposed to be a seamless link from Collage (our HRIS) and Wagepoint, but it feels awfully "manual in the back end" in its implementation. Changes made in Collage are fairly commonly missed when the payroll comes around, and our staff need to be diligent in their review process each period to spot missing changes. This puts more pressure on my staff than I would expect is necessary.

Finally, the integration with Xero is not particularly well-documented, nor does it work flawlessly (although the flaws are predictable and work-around-able). I did end up having to redo a bunch of vacation calculations because I did not understand how it was handling vacation reporting during setup, but it's now working.

On the plus side, staff are always friendly and helpful, which is certainly appreciated. Pricing is reasonable, and we've never missed a payroll, which is the most important thing.
