Cosy Swallows Nest
A brilliant find. Exactly as described on website. Clean and comfortable with many little extras provided by owner. Easily missed from road as track double backs from road but once found it is easy to access. A good base to explore the area.

Bank House Meifod
Beautiful house in lovely location with really friendly locals. The house has top quality furnishings and the owner is really friendly and helpful. Plenty to do locally and further afield and lots of top quality pub meals and restaurants within a few minutes drive. It was great to drive on empty roads.

Wales cottage holidays- perfect
Had a lovely holiday in Wales using Wales cottage holidays website. Very informative site. With clear instructions on your stay / accommodation and payment requirements. Plus you get reminders on the run up to your holiday.
Would definitely use the site again.

The other poor reviews speak for themselves and reflect the bad experience/service I have received from Wales Cottage Holidays. Won't be booking with them again!

Spacious property in a lovely location…
The property is in a lovely location about 20 minutes walk from the beach and Abersoch town. There is a spar close by.
The property is very spacious with a sea view. It has recently had an ensuite shower room added downstairs in place if the utility room. The rest of the property is beginning the look a little tired and could do with some updating.

Pandy's Barn
We had a fantastic short break in this lovely part of the world. Lots to explore. The cottage was fantastic and had everything we needed. There was enough room for us all to either be together or enjoy our own space. Clean, comfy sofas, amazing views, picnic table outside. Even a hose pipe to wash off the dog. Couldn't have asked for more.

Phoney
Phoney. Booked a week at the Warren, Abersoch in May 2021. On arrival the lodge was unclean and was in an awful state of repair and after reporting we got an apology and offer of £100. After pushing this was upped to £200. The place is clearly inappropriate for hire. I attempted to leave a review for this property to warn others and after it going awol on several occasions I gave up. I’ve just seen the property still listed on this site with a positive review from and Mr & Mrs x, however the date of the stay was the same date we stayed there so this is clearly a fake review.
Misleading old photos of the property luring people into to stay, with no opportunity to leave a review. I’m not surprised the reviews of Wales Cottages on here are so bad.

Travel abroad this summer, risk ‘red list’, don’t book with them!
Wouldn’t stay in any of their properties if they paid me to. In it for themselves, absolutely no clue of what ‘customer service’ actually means, and will cancel your booking without any warning if they get a better offer. Capitalising on Covid rules, low standards, staff who bury their heads in the sand and never respond - an overall despicable company.

Awful customer service and experience
The booking process was fairly straightforward; I was told that the cottage was available and therefore I went ahead with it.
An hour after paying the deposit, I received a pretty short email saying that the owner had refused our booking (the property was offered as fully available, not available on request).
I have tried to question this over the last 3 days, and Wales Cottage Holidays have not replied to my emails (employee called Emma) and are still holding my payment.
Not only that, but the place I booked is available again on the website for £2000 more over the dates we wanted. Shamefully obvious that the owner realised the price wasn't high enough and refused the booking on this basis.
Really disappointed with this service, will not consider your company again.

Absolute disgrace
Absolute disgrace! Beware when booking! Booking made 12th Feb. Found cottage on another site which stated it was 2 cottages not 1. Emailed them and received a reply agreeing it, wasn't stated on their site and a refund would be issued. Still no refund! Emailed and reply was them to telling me no refund would be issued and the site clearly states 2 cottages. This amendment was made after my enquiry and luckily I took screenshots of the original description so be warned how a company can try and scam you. Would have given zero stars if allowed!!!! I will be taking this matter further this is fraudulent behavior!

excellent telephone manner
Due to covid, we've had to change our holiday date twice. Although there was quite a wait to speak to someone, the people on the telephones have always given the highest quality service. They are incredibly polite and helpful and I really feel that they'll bend over backwards to help. They've also sorted out my issues quickly. Excellent service!

This company let us down badly
This company let us down badly. The cottage we had booked was occupied by the owners when we arrived. They said they had told the company to cancel all bookings due to the coronavirus. After holding on the phone for ages Wales Cottage Holidays agreed they hadn't sent me an email regarding this. To cut an extremely long story short, they suggested if they couldn't find us accommodation we should drive home (180 miles) with our grandchildren and give up the idea of a holiday. Finally they found us a static caravan for 2 nights, and I spent the whole time searching the web for ANY cottage. On the evening of the 2nd day they offered another cottage which was not large enough for another 4 nights, with no guarantee of any further booking after that. So I had to take another cottage through another company. Wales Cottage Holidays refunded the money but refused to pay the extra I had to pay for the other cottage. They sent me several 'standard' emails ignoring my details and the phone line was understandably very busy. I would have liked to have been treated to a personal reply given that the mistake was wholly their fault.

Our experience of Wales Cottage…
Our experience of Wales Cottage Holidays (part of Original Cottages) was just the worst. We have been booking self-catering cottages through companies such as HomeAway and Dioni for many years and we wish we hadn’t strayed as they have always been exceptional and their cottages have always matched the stated star ratings or description. The advertised ‘5-star cottage’ we had booked through this company and had driven six hours to get too had a leaking oil fired boiler. The boiler was sadly situated in the kitchen and the oil leak was causing a horrible acrid smell throughout the whole property including the bedrooms making sleeping very difficult and everything generally unpleasant. There were other more minor things like leaking patio doors that had towels inside on the floor to mop up rainwater and rotting outside seating that wasn’t fit to use. Luckily we had bought our own camping chairs with us. The lady owner wasn’t unapproachable and did get a plumber to look at the boiler the morning after our arrival, however, she did mention that he had serviced it the day before we had arrived so something had obviously gone wrong! The fumes didn’t go away for the entirety of our stay, only slightly improving and becoming more localised to the kitchen by the end of the week. We couldn't use the boiler for the whole week so no central heating was available for some pretty chilly evenings. There was a wood burner downstairs and after having to ask, the owner did reluctantly, bring some extra logs asking us “if we had already used all of the provided logs”...Well yes, as it was our only way of getting any warmth. When we approached the owner a second time to mention that the fumes were not improving she did say that we could spend the Wednesday and Thursday nights (between clients) of our week in her two B&B rooms at the farmhouse a few hundred yards away but that we would have to come back to the cottage during the day to cook etc...This made no sense and just seemed additional inconvenience. The very day we returned home we e-mailed Wales Cottage Holidays with our experience in the hope that they would discuss the situation with the owner and possibly agree on some sort of fair and partial refund (we had paid almost £800 for the week) to reflect our experience and compromised holiday. The response was blunt saying that “having spoken to the owner they felt that she had done all she could and they considered the case closed” without even calling to ask us anything further. We just can’t understand how any of this can be considered our fault, and even if others have never experienced such a problem with the cottage ‘we sadly did’. Neither us nor our friends who attended with us would ever use this company again and would suggest you use a company such as those I mentioned previously, who believe in fairness and good customer service for both their suppliers and holidaymakers whom, after all, are both clients!
29/09/2020. In response to company reply.
The property owner was fully aware that even after the repair, turning on the boiler made the fumes even worse and so we couldn't turn it on. We were even unsure whether it could be a fire risk as the fumes were so strong! Yes of course the boiler engineer said that the fumes 'should' slowly disperse but sadly this process of 'drying out' took the entirety of the week. We had paid peak season rates for a so called top quality cottage. If what you are saying is that things like leaking oil and potentially toxic fumes are all part of a client's risk in visiting one of your properties then I think you need to state this in your terms and conditions. Please forgive me if I have missed it.
With regard to the owner, we have no doubt that she is an honourable lady with good intentions but does this alone mean she is not responsible for the condition of her property. Surely things like this should be checked and dealt with well before unsuspecting and paying customers arrive.
You point out the owners 'so called' offers to us but none of these were made willingly or before we had approached her multiple times.
I should also point out that we all discussed whether we should leave a review in the visitors book when we left but based on our experience decided that it would be kinder not to and I have not mentioned the cottage name in any of my reviews. We are not unreasonable people and understand that it is very likely that the boiler is now fine and that people are having lovely holidays there. The fact of the matter is that our stay was hugely compromised and you are not prepared to accept or take any responsiblity for this. You are the broker here making money from both and should ensure your holiday experiences are complete value for money as any reasonable person would expect. You have my details and I look forward to your call. I wonder!

Disappointing and dirty.
Great customer service from the company letting me know about local building works so we were fully informed before we arrived. I can’t fault the staff in this respect.
HOWEVER, on arrival at 14 Limeslade Drive, the property was visibly dirty. Dust and dirt on the floors and dirty windows. This was my first time away after nearly 6 months of shielding and the cleanliness of the property was really disappointing and worrying. I would have asked for a cleaner, but didn’t want anyone else in the bungalow as this would have made me very anxious.
It’s such a shame because it is situated in a lovely spot and the views are stunning.
We will be staying on this road again but most certainly not at this property. There are a few others available which we have seen are much better maintained and clean!
The property looks unloved and there is a strong smell of damp in both bedrooms. It needs a very good clean and someone to take pride in it. The owner is missing a trick as with other properties available, there is tough competition. No 14 is an overpriced option and we would not recommend staying there until improvements have been made.

Cottage 5 stars - Wales Cottage Holidays no more than 2 stars.
Very mixed experience of Wales Cottage Holidays (part of the original cottages family). The cottage (Ysgubor Helyg) was absolutely perfect and the owners (Rob and Sarah) totally exemplary. However when Covid kicked in dealing with Original Cottages was a nightmare. I was totally unable to speak to anybody regarding whether or not our holiday (booked early February) would be able to take place - and if it did what holiday facilities would be available to us. Emails were answered generically and specific questions were not answered. The only question they did answer was answered untruthfully. I asked whether the cancellations policy in the Ts and Cs from February would apply or the changed ones on the site in June. I was informed that they hadnt changed. But they had - and I had both a print out of the Ts and Cs from February and a screen shot. I do not like being lied to. In fact I ended up cancelling the Continuous Payment Authority with my bank in case they took the final payment without my consent. I ended up paying this at the last possible moment, from a different account, and only when I was confident the holiday would actually happen.
Three months of worry - that could easily have been avoided.
Anyway the cottage was fantastic and good value.
I really despise the business model where I pay Wales Cottage Holidays - only to find that legally my contract is with an unknown third party. How can I enter into a meaningful contract with persons unknown?

Eventually They came back to me. Common sense prevailed ... I have rebooked-next year same dates and price.
The negative that remains is lots of changes of Ts a Cs and FAQ and left me thinking the worse of them
Be very wary using these people. They wrote to me 23rd march offering to allow us to move holidays due to corona virus but suggesting we wait until nearer the day. On 3rd May I wrote to them wanting to discuss option and either move the trip or cancel; they ignored me. They have now sent me an invoice for a holiday unlikely to occur on 23rd July and state seem to imply on their site my holiday will go ahead. They are not answering phones, they are not responding to emails and therefore attempting to withdraw the offer to rearrange. I therefore find it hard to trust them and suggest caution.
Update if you booked with them or are thinking or doing so look at the booking conditions when you booked versus those they send you now. They tried to change mine unilaterally without any notice

Don't use this company
Don't use this company, they will not issue a refund due to my holiday being cancelled because of the coronavirus lockdown, all they can offer is to rebook or a credit note which is no good to me. Avoid at all costs.
