Review summary

Created with AI, based on recent reviews

Most reviewers were let down by their experience overall. Many customers encountered significant problems with payment processing, including account access issues and difficulties with tax-related transactions. People also frequently reported a complete lack of effective customer service, with unresponsive support teams, reliance on unhelpful chatbots, and an inability to speak with a human representative. Reviewers consistently experienced difficulties with the service, noting that it often failed to perform as expected, particularly after a change in payroll processors. This led to difficulties with payroll processing and financial transactions. The response time from support was also a major point of dissatisfaction, with many waiting days or weeks for replies that often did not resolve their issues. The staff, when reachable, were perceived as unhelpful and unable to provide clear solutions.

Don't expect ANY notice

Everything was great, but over-priced, until they decided to change business models and cut off my small business without notice. I was told I couldn't use them for payment services anymore, but I could still use the rest of their services... It made no sense. You can't get a hold of a person AT ALL! I had (briefly) considered using them for online banking services. When I didn't opt in, things changed.

The chat line is not useful either. They can't/won't deal with anything besides tech support.

When I emailed a direct question, they only cut and pasted previous email conversations. It is totally robots running the ship.

if you are small business don't use…

if you are a small business don't use this company.. we are a startup software company. paying wages to our staff is very difficult for us in this covid situation. and what they did last night they put a hold on my payments for 120 days and said their decisions are final. we had to pay salary to our staff with that money. they worked for a whole month for a service. And the client who paid us was paying since last 6 months on different payment platform.
I as a CEO of a small software company ask my fellow startups to not use this service they are scam fraud or whatever you call them.
we need to come up with a solution to tackle this mafia.

My opinion and experience: a total scam/racket. Reporting to FCC and BBB.

Total scam/racket.Reporting to FCC. Heres how they scam you. You sign up. You invoice client. Client pays by debit using link on waveapp invoice. Cpl days later youll get auto email saying youre high risk and been declined from their system. Yet the money is in limbo. So you answer the email with the faded "please type above the line" comment that doesnt work. When they answer, its an auto response saying to look at Terms of Service. NO PHONE NUMBER EXCEPT ONE THAT RINGS FOREVER AND ANOTHER IN CANADA. Their Live Chat is automated irrelevant answers. The software does NOT allow you to cancel transaction. When you try, it says "we have to talk..." and some baloney about contacting them on their website that 2 days later gets another irrelevant canned response fron them. If client uses debit card they can't stop payment "until transaction clears" and then issue a complaint/investigation which could take months. Meanwhile, im out 3000.00 that is in limbo. Credit cards are held for 120 days. Absolutely no one to talk to and the info says they're in Toronto. Also, to transfer the payment money to your account you hv to give them all banking info, obviously, giving valuable info to a mysterious fluffed up company. In my opinion this is a capital-generating / banking info geneting ruse fluffed up in Millenial tech hype. That's the logical conclusion.

I ordered a hot tub over 6 weeks ago for my son's birthday. Delivery was promised on the 21st June - stayed in all day and no notification and no hot tub. Website is very frustrating as you cannot talk to anyone or get any update - just a computer generated response which does not give you any information. Definitely will not be recommending this Company to anyone.........so disappointed and wish I had spent my money elsewhere

This software was great a few years, but now…

This software was great a few years ago, but since last year it has been falling apart.

Firstly, they are not supporting clients outside the US and Canada. If you email them with real problems, they will just ignore and resolve the ticket.

Then, with the last update a few weeks ago they removed the most basic functionality like OCR for invoices. Before we used to be able to upload expenses and they would be scanned and the amounts detected, etc. Now they removed that feature completely so it is very painful to add expenses.

I am actively looking for a replacement for WaveApps and I will be deleting my account. Stay away from this company.

Unfortunately I couldn’t give NO stars

Unfortunately I couldn’t give NO stars. Steer away from this company they take your money & have absolutely no customer services. They rip you off & have no morals whatsoever. I have a hot tub that is just over 6 months old & has a major fault & they have said that there is nothing they can do as they only give a 6 month warranty. I wish I had gone to Lazyspa now. Cowboys 🤬🤬🤬

This company acts shady in a variety of ways, where they will take money for services you do not use. When confronted with it, they will tell you it is your fault.

They literally hire people with credit collections experience as their "payroll specialist" representatives because they do everything possible to prevent you from getting money back that they should not be holding on to.

Do not trust this company with your business.

Stay Far Away!

If you were considering using Waves for anything, here's your sign; DON'T DO IT. Stay far away from this company. These people will not support your business whatsoever.

I ran a slightly larger than usual transaction on my Waves account, which resulted in them inquiring for more information about the transaction. Understandable. I reached out to their chat to ask for more info regarding what info they needed to clear things up. I was told I'd hear back the following morning.

Instead, the next day they disabled payments on my account with zero warning and zero complaints from customers/chargebacks. Their reason was that my business is "high risk" (it's not, there isn't a single payment processor that labels my business category as high risk or prohibited). When I asked if there was anything that could be done, they sent me a copy paste response letting me know the decision is final and there's nothing I can do. When I inquired further about the fact payments were disabled and asked if this was going to result in me being put on MATCH or a high risk business list, they refused to answer my email. Wonderful!

The loveliest part is that they don't have a phone number to call, they have only have an email and a chat so that they can easily avoid and ignore you when there's actually an issue. I didn't think the bar for payment processors could get any lower, but here we are!

I never write reviews or complaints, ever, but I felt it's important to let other small business owners know this is NOT a company you ever want to work with, especially if you're financially vulnerable. They won't work with you if there's any issues. If they don't have a copy paste response to wave you off with, they'll probably ignore you like a bunch of immature high schoolers. I guess it doesn't matter to them, as long as they got their 2.9%+$0.30 per transaction for doing absolutely nothing.

Horrible experience

Horrible experience. Avoid at any costs! They encouraged a customer to pay me online. She did, but then Wave refused to deposit the money in my bank account (for unknown reasons).

My customer requested that the money be returned to her, and they are refusing to do that as well.

The money is sitting with Wave with no way for me to access it.

Customer service is horrible. I cannot overstate how bad this company is.

Terrible Updates

They keep changing the transaction page and it is awful now. You can't see the description of the line items. Every time they update that page it's for the worst, not for the better. You can't read more than two words from the description of each line item. Now you have to click on each to read the description which adds hundreds of hours of work to bookkeeping when you used to be able to see it by simply scrolling up and down. Horrible update. They're going backwards.
It seems you also can't add new categories the way you used to be able to.

Beware this company

I sent an invoice using Wave to a customer which was paid on March 19th using Wave's payment processing service. The app told me that the payment was processing and should clear into my account on March 31. This seemed like a long time, but I waited patiently. Noon on March 30 I received an email from Wave saying that they had decided not to allow me to use their payment processing system and would now be holding the funds for 65 days. I'm sure the funds have exited my customer's account at this point and I don't understand why they need to be held so much longer.

Because of this I am unable to pay rent, buy food, drive to jobs, or anything else. I'm a small business owner - the main target of Wave's service - and this last minute decision of theirs is making it impossible for me to work and not incur debt. I need this resolved immediately.

Akin to having a scammer handle your payments

A couple of months after using the Wave's system, they abruptly and suddenly witheld a payment for a large job causing severe losses and a whopping $400 in overdraft fees. They claimed they took the funds for a standard regular risk review because of a client's amex payment. After terrible back and forth communication, they cancelled the transaction and we lost over 3 thousand dollars in hard earned monies. Our experience dealing with them was like dealing a scam artist or a fraudster. They are not worth the fee they collect and cannot be trusted handling your customers' payments.
