Square killed Weebly

Weebly started as a cool web builder + hosting alternative until it got purchased by Square. They simply bought it to eliminate a competitor and try to push their clients into their own online shopping platform, and simply abandoned it.

Useless

I can't do ANYTHING on this freaking platform. My client went with Weebly for their very basic site, I assume because they're super cheap. Every time I try to make any edit, the whole page gets jacked up. I've been trying to resolve two tiny issues for six hours. And when I search for the solutions online, I find articles from 2016-2017 about the exact issue that has NEVER been fixed.
Do NOT contact me. Instead, put a few dollars into your platform.

Weebly are rubbish and couldn't care less about you or your website.

Iv'e been with Weebly for years, and to be honest I only stay with them becuase it's such a mission in making a new website or transporting the existing one to another host. Their customer support is know world wide to be absolutely appaling, I have the impression that they are completely staffed by 'hip' Califonians who have absolutley no work ethic what so ever, and think they deserve a promotion or raise simply for turning up..? The websites are 'okay' but nothing to write home about, and even though they describe many of their templates as 'responsive' I can assure anyone reading this that they are not, and they look rubbish on mobile phones, often pictures not displaying correctly, and font colours all wrong even though you may have gone onto their website editor and checked all of the colours and fonts etc.
Weebly are okay of you are skint (poor) and are desperate, or if you are not too bothered about how your website looks (particularly on mobiles)... if you are concerned about those things I would advise to go with somebody else.

I used to use Weebly and liked it

I used to use Weebly and liked it. It was previously good value for money and easy to use. It's now a fair bit more expensive than it was but doesn't seem to have changed much in a decade. Support seems less available and is probably a bit slower. A bug on their end prevented me from being able to set my site up without a long chat to support. Live text chat is the best way to resolve issues as I got several stock email replies 1-2 days after a query telling me to follow the same instructions which didn't work. I DID get the issues sorted via live chat with a very helpful staff member, but there was no offer of "have a few weeks added on to your annual subscription since you were unable to use our service due to a glitch on our end." I feel there should have been and this would have made me feel more positive towards Weebly.

The glitch was fixed with the kind help from a patient chat agent (a long queue of about an hour to get to speak to someone in live text chat and over an hour or more for them to resolve with their team).

However, as a 1star reviewer points out, Weebly uses cookies but it's now their policy to instruct the subscriber - you - to subscribe to a 3rd party GDPR cookie service to bring *their* web builder (your site with them) into line with EU/UK legislation. This feels unfair as you, the customer, cannot turn off their/your site's use of cookies. Offering a default banner and the *option* of choosing a different one seems like something easy they can do to make their service more fair and more respectful towards GDPR.

Alternatively, making it more clear that they are not GDPR compliant at the point of sign up without customer intervention via a 3rd party would be better. I suddenly had the foresight to check their compliance, only to find that there was nothing easily available. I think web builders trading in the UK should have to have a default "ON" GDPR cookie banner option for customers. Preferably one with a "Reject All" button for visitors. Or at the very least, an "All Cookies Off" option for their customers. It seems like an easy thing they could fix.

Appalling support :(

Weebly's support completely ignores questions being asked, they answer whatever they feel like answering, which sometimes has nothing to do with your issue, they give instructions for options that don't exist, and repeat irrelevant instructions they had previously provided.
It feels like communicating with a bot that has dementia.

This is one of the worst site builders…

This is one of the worst site builders around, the support is terrible, even with pro subscription. Weebly is outdated, apps are rubbish. Seo is awful. Zero improvements at all for years. Please do not waste your money and time with Weebly.

Weebly discriminates between countries…

Weebly discriminates between countries for "security reasons" (scams, etc.). Countries in Africa like Senegal for sure. They do not disclose the countries nor give you a solution. They say that their "firm response" is that it is like that. This involves that you cant access the site to edit from these countries, nor have any visitors. So, what is wrong: 1, multicultural teams working on the sites, are imposible. And 2nd they are contributing to limit access to a young and growing country such as Senegal were I work. It is not contributing the population to feed itself from content, information, knowledge, etc. It is a shame and we are extremely sorry we have been using Weebly for so long. With no answe from Weebly, we have to unfortunately change host platform, with the work that that involved. But our values are still important to us. Good luck!

Really bad service. Do not go for this webbuilder! SEO is not working. Customer service is difficult to get and payment options are insufficient. In short, terrible.

Absolutely appalling service ignoring costimers

Absolutely appalling service. We paid for a service that you haven't supplied. Our website has been printed on our stationary and placed on our social media sites. You have not provided a website for us and customers have been commenting on this. You are costing us money and now you refuse to so much as reply to us. We have been asking for you to release our domain name and refund the money we paid for your service, that you did not supply, and you refuse to respond.
Disgustingbservice to say the least.
Would definately not recommend at this point.

Weebly is a fiasco

Weebly is a fiasco. I have had a paid plan on it since 2013. It was great before it was taken over by Square in 2018. Square tried to 'knit together' the weebly interface w/ Square's store. Ok maybe that should work-- but it DOESN'T. There are endless problems with items not charging shipping when they should, and charging it when they shouldn't. Ten months of contacting their "customer service" (aka customer disservice) has done nothing. Stay away from Weebly. When I have time to take on rebuilding my website on a new platform I'll switch, but omg, be warned, you will regret Weebly; find something better if you are starting out now.

Been with Weebly for a decade and it…

Been with Weebly for a decade and it feels terrible leaving a 1-star review after all this time, but their service has plummeted drastically. Support used to be very helpful and attentive, now it barely exists at all as so many other reviews have said. Was considering moving to a paid plan, but wanted more information about some of the details that the FAQ pages did not provide. 2 weeks passed before I got a reply, which ended up being just broken English that didn't seem to comprehend my questions at all. But they did offer to pass my questions to the relevant teams for more info. I said yes please, pass my questions along. Another week goes by and I get nothing. Then an email asking me to fill out a survey for the support service I received. What service??? Three weeks and I still haven't been helped. This has been the fate of every attempt at contacting support over the past year at least - weeks of waiting, just for no help at all when you finally get a reply. I haven't even seen any meaningful improvements with the Weebly editor in what feels like forever. Just more things breaking, features being removed, and all the interesting themes replaced by boring, samey clones. Even after a decade, they STILL haven't even added an undo button. The FAQ pages are a mess, and trying to find info on various features (like upgrade plans or "Promote") is like running into a brick wall over and over again. This used to be my favorite website platform and I always recommended it to other people looking to build a website. Now it's a total thorn in my side.

Happy!

I've had a really positive experience with weebly - as an amateur I found it easy to build a professional looking website. When I struggled to connect my domain I used the live chat function for help. Now admittedly I started off talking to an automatic support robot which was annoying, but when I asked if I could speak to a human I was connected to one within 2-3 minutes, they were super helpful and sorted my problem immediately. Couldn't ask for better, very happy customer.

Shocking customer service

I sent an email to weebly 3 day's ago, they say they get back with 1 business day.I have also sent messages via messenger, which were eventually answered but very casual. The response I got was a 1 liner even though I had already told them I had already tried these different guides. Weebly have crap customer service, I have so many problems and they never get answered! I have stayed loyal because I know people need a job but I'm afraid I am in the process of getting well away from this company. 24/7 help.... 🤣 🤣 What a joke. I actually don't know what I'm paying all of my money for? There is one good thing to say... Its good for people who have no idea how to make a website, very easy to use. Nothing works and limited things you can do.

NO Customer service when you need help

NO costumer service what so ever! I agree with others that it used to be good but now it's not. They made it almost impossible to contact them, and when I finally managed to find a way to write them an email - 1½ week ago about an urgent problem - they don't answer at all. Think they are about to ruin their business.

Zero Customer Services or Help

I've been with weebly for years and for the first time I have a simple question which I need help with, Namely I need a Domain name, that I own and is point to weebly, transferred to one weekly website to another. I own both. The function on my control panel doesn't work.

Weebly only respond if you post on their Facebook page. When they do respond they are no help. This has taken hours and hours of my time and I am still no further forward.
