I booked an airbnb in paris in june…
I booked an airbnb in paris in june 2026. This was during fete de la musique and fashion week for context - the accommodation was materially different and not sold as described; in a normal situation I would have just attempted to find a new accommodation, i paid almost €1000 Euros for what was described as a luxury apartment, nothing about this was luxurious given the fact there no accommodations available in the arr i had chosen or inner paris i had no option to document the issue. I raised it with airbnb who told me to talk to the owner/host as it’s left to a letting agent they don’t even know what the property looks like and are telling me the apartment as sold as described. It was 40degrees they had rubbish bins directly outside my apartment sweating and causing an unbearable stench. There was mould present in the shower none of the windows in the apartment would open. they don’t have adequate AC for the house either. Almost everything in apartment was subject to damage. I escalated this with airbnb 18th July and after several follow ups I just want a full refund the customer service has been nothing short of abhorrent the gaslighting as if i don’t know what i booked I definitely will be back to hotels
avoid sweett apartments in saint lazare UPDATE: Airbnb have since come back to me saying there is nothing they can do whilst still allowing these fraudsters to advertise this as a luxury accommodation despite it looking materially different to the photos on the website mind you in the UK that’s false advertisement
Ruined by the uncertainty when booking
If it goes well AirBnB can provide a much better experience for less than a hotel. Unfortunately I have decided to go back to hotels as the delivery is more consistent and you don't have the hassle of waiting for a host to decide whether to accept the booking and coming back after a day to not accept or just not communicating at all. OK you get more if it's a good host but how do you value the uncertainty factor? A hotel is generally consistent (you know what to expect from the big chains) check in/out is pain free and online booking easier as they either have availability or they don't.
Host has not replied to query sent over…
Host has not replied to query sent over 2 days ago. AIRBNB chatbot says they cannot contact host until 48 hours before check in which may be too late. Cannot contact an AIRBNB human. We have paid the full cost of the booking.
Over 100 mosquito bites.
Despite the property and host being rated 5 stars, we had a terrible experience with noise and mosquito bites. We left after 1 night as it was so bad.
Once home, I received accusations from another rental that we had taken the pillow protectors! Come off it.
Never doing Airbnb again.
I can't even face trying to get a refund after seeing the complaints about customer service.
Terrible company for hosts
Terrible company that forces discounts on hosts which were never agreed to. Use other platforms for hosting/booking.
Do not use Airbnb!
Airbnb do not even deserve a 1 star. Customer service does not exist. Have phoned and sent endless messages after my fully paid reservation was cancelled 3 days before the start date. Note Flights, transfers and parking cannot be cancelled at this late stage so now stuck without accommodation. As a solo traveller this is very worrying. Refund can take up to 10 days so I now have to pay additional money to urgently look for somewhere else which will be more expensive and out of my budget at short notice. Airbnb were supposed to phone me back with alternative accommodation (as per policy) but didnt. Followed this up with messages and 8 hours later suggested 1 alternative...on a completely different Greek island! Now almost 12 hours later they have not responded after my message stating this was not acceptable. I will NEVER use Airbnb again.
Airbnb is the worst company ever
Airbnb is the worst company ever. I use Booking.com now for all my travel needs.
Airbnb won't allow to book directly, one has to wait to be accepted -what the hell! I need a room now! And all the extra charges: for cleaning (should be included) for using the kitchen, washing machine, £300 deposit to book a room for 1 week that costs £350pw but written in small letter way down the T&C's - what the hell is this??
Customer services are useless and do not understand what one says and one's problem or how to solve them. Once they take a decision, no matter how wrong it is, they stick by it. Writing the CEO does not help at all, they don't reply to any complaints.
I could go on and on with complaints but I hope people don't use them and they go out of business
Never will use them again
Airbnb Superb Support
A huge thank you to customer services at Airbnb who gave us an immediate full refund on our two week holiday in a beautiful villa in Bordeaux, which we couldn’t get to due to the wildfires. They were understanding and swift to exercise their cancellation policy. Well done Airbnb!
Airbnb is Holding our Payout
Airbnb have been holding my payout since the end of June. Every time we add a payout method, it fails. We have been asking for the reason why it fails, but we have been never been given an explanation. Customer service is not helpful. They just get us to repeat the process without fixing the issue. Airbnb tell us to contact the bank but there are no issues with the bank. Airbnb need to take responsibility rather than repeatedly passing on the responsibility to the customer. If you are thinking of starting short term lets for your property, think carefully before using Airbnb as a platform.
Airbnb failed to carry out basic due…
Airbnb failed to carry out basic due diligence. Our long-term tenant listed our property on Airbnb without our permission or having licence. Airbnb appears to verify neither ownership nor the legal right to sublet. That's a serious failure that exposes property owners to abuse. A company of Airbnb's size should have robust verification processes. This type of business models cannot continue.
2X cancellations for same trip
Booked a trip for partners 30th in Paris. 1st booking cancelled with no explanation. Booked again, same thing happened. Spoke to rep via chat function who seemed to care little for the situation. Waste of time. Will stick to hotels in future.
Rude customer service that hung up
I called up Airbnb because I've been locked out of my account for no clear reason. I've just tried to make a booking for a holiday next year, and now I don't know what's happening with it. It won't let me log in, and it says I have to wait seven to ten days.
I called up Airbnb and got put through to customer service, to a very rude American-sounding guy who sounded a bit like a robot, to be honest. He was really rushed in his speaking. He wouldn't slow down. He wasn't very clear. He ultimately kept saying, "You're already been assigned to an agent. They will call you in five minutes. They will call you in five minutes." I kept saying to him, "I'm sorry, but I need to know how they're going to call me, what they don't call me." Then he just hung up on me.
Really not impressed, especially when I'm trying to make a booking through the system. He was a very rude person.
Do not ensure well-being of guests
I stayed with a host in Warsaw from 9th to 12th July 2026.
The property had serious issues with cleanliness, hygiene, and extreme neglect of the facilities. The condition did not match the listing description and made the stay very uncomfortable. The address was also different to what was listed. I took photographic evidence of all issues at the very beginning of my stay and sent these to Airbnb.
After the stay:
1. Retaliatory review: After I raised my concerns, the host left a retaliatory and dishonest review about me as a guest.
2. My review removed: I then submitted a balanced, factual review detailing the
Censored by Airbnb
I recently had a very poor experience at an Airbnb property. The accommodation was extremely basic and appeared to have been neglected, but the biggest issue was the appalling level of cleanliness.
I wrote an honest, professional review and included photographs I had taken as evidence. The review contained no offensive language or unnecessary exaggeration—only an accurate account of my experience.
A few days later, Airbnb removed my review. Despite contacting them several times for an explanation, they were unable to provide a clear reason for its removal. Based on my experience, it appears that Airbnb prioritises protecting its business interests over allowing customers to share honest feedback.
The worst customer service on EARTH
The worst customer service on EARTH. Completely unhelpful, rude, dismissive, unable to understand the simplest concerns, change their story 5 times and when a host cancels on you TWO WEEKS before your holiday, they only proceed to try to help you out by suggesting horrible properties ON ANOTHER ISLAND entirely. What a joke of a platform full of scam properties.
My friend and I stayed at Penlan Street…
My friend and I stayed at Penlan Street from the 13th July to 17th July 2026. The accommodation is a short walk (uphill) from the Train Station and the Bus station is just across the road from the train station in the centre of Pwllheli Town.
We arrived at the accommodation and found the lock safe, which opened no problem. The accommodation was clean, and had all the amenities needed for our stay. On entering we found a couple of flights of stairs, at the top of the first flight was the toilet, which was lockable, having a vacant or in use sign operated by locking the door from the inside. As you would expect, soap, toilet roll and clean hand towel were available. Hot water was dispensed by a geyser on the wall. There was a heated towel rail for keeping the towel dry. Other necessities, ie toilet brush and bin were available.
The bedrooms were clean and fresh. 3 bedrooms, 2 double beds and one with twin beds. The Twin room was situated at the top of the second flight of stairs while the two double rooms where situated at the top of the 3rd flight of stairs. Each bedroom had a fan, which we appreciated in the hot weather the UK has been experiencing. There was a heavy wooden chair in each room, table and lamp and clean towels on the bed. There was a place to hang clothes with coat hangers. This furniture was a low open shelf type in construction. The beds sported 2 or 4 pillows depending on if it was a double or single bed. The beds we used were comfortable, made up with quilts and sheets. The curtains were black out, which was good as the long summer days mean its late when it goes dark outside.
On the main floor, the door to the right took you to a seating area and kitchen. The galley kitchen was fully equipped for our stay, with appliances including, toaster, microwave, hob, oven, dishwasher and washing machine. All crockery, glasses, cutlery and all essentials you would expect to find in a kitchen. In the cupboard under the sink were tea towels and cleaning materials. The hot water was dispensed using a geyser. In one of the wall cupboards, we found, tea, coffee sugar, and basics ie salt, some of these may have been left by previous tenants. But after an 8-hour trip this was so welcoming. There were a number of bins for recycling different materials, which we hope we used correctly.
The seating area, had a wall mounted TV, 2-seater sofa and chair. Below the TV was a unit, with a number of pamphlets about ‘What to Do’ and what was available in the area. Very useful. As well as pamphlets of local eateries.
Going off from the kitchen is the shower room, which had a large easy to use shower, sink and hot towel rail. A small step into the shower is easily managed, but a slip mat would have been useful. My friend and I being in our 70’s would have preferred a small stool in there to sit on while showering, but this is only our preference and by no means detracts from the excellent facilities in the shower. As you went in, there was a ‘dry area’ carpeted where you could dry and dress yourself, also in this part there was an ironing board, iron and clothes horse.
Across the landing was the sitting room, with 2 sofa’s, coffee table, chair, large bean bag, lamp and bigger TV, under which had a unit. There was a game we could have played. It is a comfortable room, for relaxing after a day exploring the area and coming in from enjoying a meal in one of the local eateries.
Basically, our stay was very enjoyable. The accommodation was clean, had everything you would expect, and we would highly recommend staying there. Hazel the owner was accommodating, understanding and communication with her was excellent. Thank you, Hazel, for making our stay enjoyable.
Very poor
Very poor ! Customer services is horrible, treated people no fair , customers can open accounts with not verification and dammed your property, they said it is insurance, bout not really host need to do everything and fix him self’s because everything decided

Money grabbing and no holiday to show for it, no money either
I tried to book accommodation on Thursday morning only to not secure the accommodation but have 2 x payments of £290 go into my pending balance at my bank. Despite calling air bandb and finally getting through I was told the payments had both failed. However, they are still showing as pending today (Sunday) and I have no cash to cover my bills now or buy food for me and my daughter. So, this isn't just one payment to book, this is 2 full payments!! That really amounts to theft. As it's my bank account it's still pending in, I cannot actually spend money when the money is pending. This is the case with just about all banks, you have to wait, sometimes up to a week for the pending to clear and go back into your account. The following day someone else booked the accommodation so I've lost out all round. Appalling company. All call handlers only have English as a second language so it's incredibly difficult for me to understand them and vice versa. They haven't apologised, just said that the money will eventually return to my account. Don't book with air bandb, if you want decent service.
Found cockroaches in our apartment…
Found cockroaches in our apartment amongst other things such as bad smells inaccurate photos. Contacted Airbnb and they didn’t want anything to do with it. Left an HONEST review but it was removed as we were “extorting” the hosts because we asked for a partial refund. Therefore our 1 star review was removed and no partial refund given despite giving photo and video proof. Weak and spineless company who only look at for the hosts. If you have any issues, contact Airbnb straight away and take proof, not that it will help much anyway.
