Arnold Clark is the best car rental company
Arnold Clark is the best car rental company I have used so far and I've used quite a few. The entire staff is friendly, approachable, and trustworthy; the pricing is fair, and the rental process is completely transparent and clear regarding what is and isn't included. Their zero-excess insurance is reasonably priced and covers almost everything—unlike other companies—and the cars are modern and in excellent condition.
I must highlight the excellent personal service provided by all the employees, upon arrival, they offered us coffee and tea while the paperwork was being processed. Even though my English is very basic, they made a real effort to explain all the rental terms, translating any concepts I didn't quite understand. They walked me out to the car to check its condition and noted a minor blemish they spotted, they also explained the basic controls and answered my questions about the vehicle. Returning the car was another great experience, we were treated very kindly, and while we had another coffee and tea, they inspected the vehicle and confirmed everything was perfect. They even offered to drive us to the train station a gesture we really appreciated, as it was a bit of a walk and very hot outside.
In short, Arnold Clark is one of the best car rental companies out there; they are friendly, approachable, and trustworthy. I would definitely rent a car from them again.

Just perfect
First of all, prices are definitively competitive which is not a non relevant aspect!
Second, the vehicles are truly excellent. Well kept and perfectly operating.
Third, I got the feeling I was never alone and unsafe. I understand maybe all companies give you an emergency number but you know, I felt good!
I was totally confident as I had chosen to take the excess waiver, so I would haven't been responsible for paying for any damages caused by an accident but again I felt very comfortable.
I was just worried as I also wanted to purchase an insurance in case of stealing of the car but maybe at Arnold Clark Car & Van Rental knew that wouldn't have happened so they just meant to save my money!

Mixed experience
We had an amazing experience in the York branch. We were picked up from the train station by minibus and transfered for free to the car rental office. All the staff were very kind and helpful, check in was quick and simple. We also really appreciate the possibility of renting car seats as this was an issue with other car rentals in the area. However our experience with drop off in Leeds was a bit disappointing. Davis the employee who we were returning the car with was very slow and seemed like he didn't want to be there. We were also told the fuel tank wasn't full, which was very surprising to us as we filled the car up immediately across the road from the drop off. We were quite sure we filled the car up completely as it didn't let us fill anymore despite trying a few times. We were in a rush to catch a train so we didn't have time to go back to the petrol station and check ourselves so we just paid a charge (deposit of £100) and left. It a shame that after such a great initial experience we left a bit disappointed, but overall we had a positive experience and would rent a car from you again.
