Overall a good experience with the company and staff but the vehicle a let-down
There.were quite a lot of positives with Automania: I really liked that I could book the zero excess option at a relatively good cost prior to arrival, the helpfulness of staff and the fact that they didn't try to upsell me when I arrived, so that put them above 80% of car hire companies I've used. The reason for only a 3/5 is because I wasn't very happy with the car I was given. It was smaller than the one I selected, and was hard to fit all the luggage in (a DR3 was given, whereas the booking was a Peugeot 308). I understand that the rule is always "something similar" but actually there was significant difference in the amount of space and also a downgrade in quality in my books. Also, the car was very dirty when I was given the keys. I delivered it back cleaner than I was given it 😅 and also the engine seemed to not be running 100% correctly, where the speed would intermittently change with no changes to acceleration. I regret not complaining about the car when I arrived later on, but you know what it's like after a long journey and flight, you just want to get to the hotel! I would use the company again, but make sure I demanded something more like the car I booked at collection. But that can't be the client's responsibility; you shouldn't have to be negotiating such things when you're on holiday.

We would like to clarify that Automania guarantees a vehicle within the same category booked, rather than a specific make or model. The DR3 provided was within the same category as the Peugeot 308 selected in your reservation. We understand that individual models within the same category can nevertheless differ in terms of luggage space and interior layout, and we regret that this caused you inconvenience.
We also sincerely apologize for the cleanliness of the vehicle at collection. This is not the standard we aim to provide. Regarding the engine performance you noticed, we regret that this was not brought to our attention during the rental, as we would have been happy to inspect the vehicle and take the appropriate action.
We truly appreciate your positive comments about our staff and service, as well as your willingness to use Automania again. Your feedback is valuable to us and will be taken into consideration as we continue working to improve our service.

Everything was perfect
Everything was perfect, before the trip i wanted to drive a typical italian small car, automania gave us a brand new Fiat Panda, which is very typical for whole Italy and especially for the region of Sicilly, the people working there are very friendly, helpful and also the rental cost with deposit was fair. 5 stars!

I received practically new car, without damages. Hybrid, which is great fuel economy. Picking up and packing and leaving the car processes was easy and staff were polite.

Be very careful during check-in and make sure you take photos.
You need to be extremely careful when checking the car at pick-up. Make sure you take plenty of photos and videos of both the inside and outside of the vehicle.
When we returned the car, if we hadn’t had the video and photos, they would have charged us for scratches that were already there when we picked it up.
We also had to insist repeatedly during our stay that they replace the car because one of the tyres kept losing air. At first, they wanted us to go and have the tyre repaired ourselves.
We were also charged an additional €123 for returning the car before their opening hours. I found this charge excessive.
Overall, I found the service rather average, and the cars were not particularly clean.

This is a recommended procedure precisely to ensure that the vehicle’s condition is properly documented from the beginning of the rental.
With regard to the €122 after-hours service charge, we would like to clarify that this fee is clearly stated in our Terms and Conditions and is also indicated at the time of booking and on the rental voucher. The charge applies because, outside our normal business hours, one of our colleagues must be present at the office to carry out the vehicle check-in and complete the necessary procedures, as well as assist customers with their transfer to the airport.
We are sorry to hear that you found the overall service only average and that the cleanliness of the vehicle did not meet your expectations. We value your comments and will take them into consideration as we continue working to improve our service.
