Review summary

Created with AI, based on recent reviews

Reviewers had an excellent experience with this company. Customers frequently found the pricing to be highly competitive, often saving significant amounts compared to previous policies or other providers. The process of obtaining insurance was described as streamlined, easy to use, and straightforward, with many appreciating the clear website layout and user-friendly experience. However, some people were dissatisfied with customer service, reporting difficulties getting through to a human or experiencing unhelpful online chat and phone interactions. A few other people also felt that renewal quotes were unexpectedly high, sometimes double, leading to a perception that existing customers were not valued.

My pension fund was transferred from…

My pension fund was transferred from Scottish widows, who were very efficient and speedy. Aviva seems so slow and unprofessional, it is taking me over 4weeks to make a withdrawal, and now I have to wait another week! Nothing like Scottish Widows !

Thank you for sharing your experience ⭐

We can understand why this has been frustrating. Moving from a provider where things felt quick and efficient, then finding a withdrawal is taking several weeks and facing further delays, would naturally leave you disappointed.

When it comes to pensions, having clear communication and timely processing is really important, especially when you're waiting for access to your money. It's understandable that the experience hasn't matched the expectations set by your previous provider.

Your feedback highlights how important it is that pension requests are handled smoothly and customers are kept informed throughout the process. Thank you for taking the time to share it.

Don’t waste your time with Aviva Zero…

Don’t waste your time with Aviva Zero car insurance.

The ‘zero’ stands for zero customer service. Any issue you have or may encounter, has to be dealt with online or via live chat, which works fine for basic stuff, but anything that requires a human conversation or slightly complex, gets shut down instantly and automatically ‘computer says no’, as some keyboard warrior can hide behind chat.

Not something I’ve experienced with other insurers, especially after an accident when you need the help and support.

In my own case, the Accident was dealt with fine (which is what you pay your money for) but I kept paying the policy for several months on a car I no longer had after it was written off, assuming that I had to do so whilst the final Claim went through. When I did contact them to cancel (online), I was charged £27, plus had an additional month of direct debit charged too. When contacting them to challenge this (again live chat the only option), was told a flat no to getting any refunds as it’s all in the T&Cs. Tough luck sunshine.

As I say Aviva ‘Zero’ stands for ‘Zero’ customer service. You get what you pay for as they say.

Thank you for sharing your experience ⭐

We can understand why this left you feeling disappointed. While it's good to hear your accident claim was handled smoothly, it's clear the experience afterwards didn't meet your expectations. Finding out that payments continued after your car had been written off, then being charged a cancellation fee and an additional direct debit when you contacted us, would understandably be frustrating.

We also hear your concerns about the support available. Online and live chat services can work well for straightforward queries, but when an issue feels more complex, it's important that customers feel listened to and supported, rather than left with the impression that there's no flexibility to help.

Your feedback highlights how important clear communication and accessible support are throughout the customer journey. Thank you for taking the time to share it.

Incompetence, gross ineptitude and complete lack of customer care

I have recently had to make two formal complaints.

The first concerns the error in Aviva’s description of my car on this year’s ‘invite’ as a ’saloon’ (4 doors) while it is actually a ‘coupe’ (2 doors). This error was also present on last year’s invite (2025) and it took several weeks and 7 repeated invites before it was resolved. My contact in the final resolution was Complaints Specialist (who asked me to contact him in future if any such problem resulted again - a contact which I was refused by your ‘Triage’ team). You can, I’m sure, imagine my surprise to see the 2026 invite carrying exactly the same error. Insurance companies are always at pains to point out how the customer is responsible for the accuracy of their own details (where an error can lead to the refusal of a claim), so I would expect the Insurance company to be at least as accurate. I made the initial formal complaint via an unsympathetic agent, who told me it would be 3 working days before I’d hear from her. At the very end of those 3 days (after I’d made a further call) the agent finally sent an email ‘telling' me the matter had been resolved. When I replied to this email asking for evidence, it disappeared and I heard nothing further. Fortunately, my 'sent mail’ still has a record of her declaration. Obviously, I would expect to see evidence (perhaps in a a re-sent invite) to confirm the issue was actually resolved.

The second complaint concerns the poor level of communication I received throughout this episode, particularly strange within this was the call I received from an agent pretending he was the agent (who had been a woman!) He has since professed to making a mistake over this yet had requested my basic details to establish my identity before telling me he was the original agent to whom I had logged the complaint. When I heard nothing further I called again and was informed no one had yet been assigned to review this issue and I would not hear any response for the next 40 days!

I won’t bore you with the rest of the inept communication; suffice to say after 3 weeks, I am still awaiting evidence for the first case and the promised compensation for the second.

As a customer, I am dismayed by the sheer level of bureaucracy within the company; the time and effort spent to resolve what is a simple error, which I was told had already been resolved 12 months before, is staggering. It leaves a customer wondering what difficulties lies before them should they actually have to make a serious claim for an accident.

Very easy online set up

Easy set up of new car insurance, changed from previous insurer. I was pleasantly surprised that the 'no claims bonus' was automatically checked with no further input from me.

Shameful treatment to Irish shareholders

I tried to sell a small number of Aviva shares and was informed by Computershare in Britain that post Brexit they could no longer sell my shares as I was a resident of the Republic of Ireland and that I would be obliged to engage with a stockbroker. I then telephoned Computershare Ireland based at Citywest Business Campus Dublin 24 and was informed that they could not sell my shares & that I would need to employ a Stockbroker now I find myself in no man’s land and I do not wish to employ a stockbroker and as such I emailed Aviva for advice. Aviva had not got the decency to answer my email but instead demonised a new company that was set up to sell shares for Irish shareholders at zero commission. Aviva, shame on your house of cards.

Absolute Joke!

The customer service is an absolute joke! I was given 2 quotes, the first one was automated and it was over £500, the second one was more realistic at £130

I contacted customer service to check what was happening as there was a massive difference and I already have my car insurance with them.
After battling through the bots I managed to speak with 2 humans, the first couldn’t help me and the second one had absolutely no idea what she was doing and struggled with the language barrier of me English tongue.

What a performance! I would give zero stars if I could. There used to be a time when customer service meant something…. Not anymore

Great customer service.

I was extremely grateful to Auto Windscreens for bringing forward the date of the replacement when I requested it. The work was carried out perfectly and quickly while I waited and the people were friendly, efficient and helpful.
