The scammed me for sure.
I tried renting a car using their service.
I ran into issues with the rent a car, they had to charge a massive amount as deposit.
I got the refund from the car rental but never from the 3rd party. They are evil. I hate this company don’t do business with them.

They have confirmed my refund regarding…

They have confirmed my refund regarding insurance - but after a month has passed and I asked again, each time different workers replies and copy/pastes generic replies. Now asking for things they have not asked before in order to complete refund!

don't use. They get commission from fraudulent companies

They use a company at O'Hare called routes. I bought full insurance through this Expedia company. They would not accept it and wanted more money. Also charge for driving to another State. Old fashioned scammers, charging customers at the rental desk. I informed CarRentals of this scam and they are ignoring my request for a refund. I have deleted all my Expedia accounts. So they will lose out to future business

TERRIBLE

TERRIBLE. I booked and when I got to the car rental counter (early!) I was told no cars were available. There are ABSOLUTELY NO REFUNDS even if it’s not your fault. NO CUSTOMER SVC OF ANY KIND.

I was lied to and scammed for $150

I was lied to and scammed for $150. I searched for enterprise online and they popped up with a phone number in chrome as a first hit so I just clicked on it. I went to car sales.com. The guy charged me $150 to change my reservation and promised me an all-wheel-drive. I was concerned when the trip didn’t show up and enterprise on my account and I called them and they said they did not have all-wheel-drive at that location nor any location within hundreds of miles. I double checked with the guy three times when I was on the phone that I needed all-wheel-drive and he said no worries, even though it doesn’t show it you let them know at the counter and they’ll give it to you. I should’ve known when both of my credit cards blocked the transaction

Be careful and check the "You will pay...." line, rather than the "Due at pick-up" line.

I reserved a car from Budget, through the CarRentals.com website. Their pricing showed $34/day, with a $40 total, so I booked it.

I reviewed the confirmation e-mail from them that stated the following:
1. On the 1st line, "Due at pick-up $39.72”;
2. On the 2nd line, "Base Price: $33.88" ; and
3. On the 3rd line, "Taxes and Fees: $5.84".

But then on the 4th line. below all that. it stated "You will pay CAD 57.44 at pick-up".

When I called the actual Budget rental location they advised me that the $57.44 was what showed up on their terminals. They also advised me that I could rent directly from them for a total of $52.92 CAD (taxes in).

I consider this to be blatant misrepresentation and/or misleading the customer by omission by CarRentals.com, an Expedia Group company.

No where on their website does it clearly say there are any additional: fees, surcharges, markups, or currency conversions.

They tried to pull the “advertise in USD and then convert to CAD” scheme even though their system knows that you are a Canadian customer, since they subsequently convert the total that you owe to CAD.

They could say "All our prices are in USD", or "Exchange rates will apply to our pricing", but they choose not to do either, thus misleading Canadian consumers.

This is as close to a scam as you can get, although I’m sure they have covered their asses with justifications for their, innocent, behaviour.

Charges were not fully disclosed

Charges were not fully disclosed. We were lied ti as far as what the actual charge was for the car versus the dollar amount that was going to be refunded once the vehicle was going to be returned. VERY deceptive and will NEVER use this company or Ace again.

Don't rent from Rentalcars.com

Don't rent from Rentalcars.com. Despite having a confirmed reservation, there was no car rental to be had. The rental car company did not honor the reservation. We were forced to take an Uber to our hotel. After making cars to Rentalcars.com, they offered no additional support. Although, we rebooked for a rental through rentalcars.com, they were no help at all. There were no apologies and no refunds. What kind of business is this?

When traveling to a foreign country DO NOT use a third party, especially Carrentals.com

When traveling to a foreign country I advise not using Carrentals.com. They were not available when I was denied a car (after paying fully) without an international drivers license. Ironically a year prior, I requested a car from the same location (Sixt Salerno Italy) with my husband. They did not require an International Drivers License at that time. But just a few weeks ago, I went (along with a female friend) to pick up the car I had already paid for and was DENIED. I was told I needed an international driver's license. So funny as I had just rented with Budget Rental Car in Florence a few days prior and they had not required it.

By the way, I was 10 minutes early for the reservation when I was denied the car. But I was unable to manually cancel on the ap. For some reason, it closed 1 hour before the reservation. There was not way to reach them about this.

No where on the paperwork for Sixt or Carrentals did they state this was now a requirement. During my trip I reached out to Carrentals. Every time I did, they just said give it 3 more days. They had to reach out to Sixt. What incentive would Sixt have to refund?

NEVER use a third party like Carrentals as they do not back you up and are unreachable.

Lesson learned here.

oh and one more thing...they DO NOT give you the option for the full coverage. They only offer one level which has a high deductible. So if you use a third party don't get the EDW coverage until you show up at the agency.

Do not ever rent with car rental.com

Do not ever rent with car rental.com. They would not issue me a refund. I arrived at Heathrow airport having rented many times before with Europcar. They said I couldn't rent a car because of a DVLA check even though my name matches my address and I have a clean driving record. Then I found out car rental.com wouldn't issue me a refund. Total nightmare so not went with the company. It's a scam.

Avoid them, or you will end up paying double

Avoid them, you will end up paying more than double the quoted price. They are using scammy practices that are bluntly illegal
The reason is twofold:
- they advertise prices without any insurance (even without the mandatory 3rd party insurance). This is in alignment with Europcar, which advertises prices without any insurance, which is illegal in Europe, last time I checked with my insurance broker
- they sell you as additional premium insurance, an obscure premium plan which the rental car is not recognising.
So, you end up paying double the quoted price.
