Review summary

Created with AI, based on recent reviews

Evaluating 52 reviews, most reviewers were let down by their experience overall. Consumers frequently complained about expensive prices and poor quality, noting that the items left their hair dry, damaged, or brittle instead of improving it as promised. People also experienced deeply frustrating issues with completely unhelpful customer support when trying to resolve problems or ask for basic assistance. Some reviewers were happy with specific items like the curl cream or styling spray that actually worked wonderfully for their hair type. These customers found that certain treatments successfully left their hair feeling shiny, smooth, and full of very noticeable volume.

Not for people of a certain age

My hairdresser friend got a selection of products so I had the opportunity to try without obligation over several months, using products in conjunction with each other or one offs.

I have post menopausal, dull, thinning , shedding hair with coloured grey roots.

Non of the products worked to either restore some thickness, add shine or reduce dryness of my hair… in fact many of them made more hair fall out and left a sticky residue.

I therefore do not recommend any of these products to anyone of a certain age.

Hairspray smells like a soiled nappy

I ordered a few things from colour wow, the hairspray smells like a soiled baby nappy. Totally unusable, the smell is horrific.
Using the xl spray and style on steroids caused so much breakage it was almost unbelievable.
The whole lot was a total waste of money and will be going in the bin.
It does not give anything remotely like the pictures on instagram.
I made a comment on facebook , it was removed instantly.
Terrible experience

Fake advertising

I have been looking at this product for a long time and wondered whether to buy or not, I bit the bullet and bought the dream filter pre shampoo and Xtra Large Bombshell volumiser. Absolute rubbish. My hair has come out flatter than with my current hair care products and really flyaway. I have very fine hair and this has made it worse. Going to have to wash and dry it again to sort it out. If you are thinking of buying ….DONT WASTE YOUR MONEY…ANYTHING YOU SEE ON THEIR WEBSITE AND SOCIALS IT IS FALSE INFORMATION AND FAKE! I have emailed this company, lo and behold. NO ANSWER I don’t think they are even looking a reviews or emails

Not a good product

Purchased off Amazon and arrive quickly. Used Color Wow purple toner. Made my hair feel dirty and difficult to brush. However, did like how it toned it but after first day it felt 'clacky' and just dirty. I don't need to wash my hair every day but if I continued to use this product I would have to wash every day just to get rid of the awful feeling it leaves on the scalp. Caused itching too.

I wondered why my hair was looking so…

I wondered why my hair was looking so really awful. Dry, limp, uncontrollable, shedding etc. etc.I have been using Color Wow products for a few months. I have bought lots of different ones. Raise the Root, style on Steroids, Dream Coat, Bombshell Volumizer, Texas Hold ‘Em. I now see, by the reviews, that I am not alone. Terrible products that damage hair. I’ve been totally taken in by the ads. A complete waste of money. I am now reverting back to the products I used to use in hopes that my hair is repaired. So very disappointing. Don’t use!!!

**** DO NOT BUY ****

I have used the shampoo and conditioner for 6 months or so after my hairdresser recommended I use sulphate free products. For my entire life I have been lucky to have lovely thick hair which looked great and sat perfectly without the need for much styling at all. So 6 months down the line my hair is an horrendous mess, no other words for it. When I first started using Colour Wow I noticed it was very difficult to comb after washing, lots of “tugs” (something I have never experienced before). My hair started falling out in huge quantities and has broken off all over my head. I now have lots of new hair growing all over which is dry and wiry and looks awful. There is no other reason for this other than my change of products. For the first time I hate my hair, I hate looking in the mirror and it has affected my self confidence massively. I would not recommend these products. They are expensive and do not do what they say. I believed that paying £43 for shampoo and conditioner would keep my hair looking good, not damage it to extremes. I am now having to try and repair my hair, at much expense, which will take a very long time. I just hope it will recover to how it was before.

I have been using colour wow shampoo…

I have been using colour wow shampoo for almost two years however recently I'm noticing that the product contains a lot of water.
When I use the shampoo especially when it's half full of the product, it's watery and very diluted. No substance or weight to the shampoo product. Therefore I will not be repurchasing as it's very disappointing.

Root Cover Up - don't waste your money

I bought the Root Cover Up in platinum/light blonde. What an absolute waste of money. Does absolutely nothing.
My eyeshadow would do a better job at a 10th of the price!
Actually I just tried it and it does!
This is such a disappointment and I feel cheated and ripped off.

Absolute joke of a company .
I’ve e mailed several times and get the same generic e mail that makes no sense. Asking if I want a replacement sent. Be great to get something, anything that I’ve ordered nearly 3 weeks ago. I’m sick of the same answer , the little elves 🤦‍♀️need sacking!!! I’ll always by from a supplier now and not Color wow the company itself. That’s if I by their product again. Shocking service !!

Be Careful

I have been using Color Wow products for some time, but over the past few months my hair has thinned, it is breaking off on the brush and it is extremely dry and frizzy. I had to have my hair cut short and I have stopped using the products. Disappointingly, i wrote to Color Wow about my experience and did not even get an acknowledgement let alone any customer care advice or assistance. These products are not cheap and you put your trust in them. My hair will take months to recover and it has caused me a lot of stress.

My hair felt itchy

My head felt itchy. My hair was falling out and I thought it was perimenopause. In the shower, over the bathroom floor. It was coming out in my hands.
Only when I started thinking about the days I used that product I realised it was the wow raise the root. Its in the bin today.
My hair is thin. I hope I can get it healthy again.

Awful product. Ruined my hair!

Have always had strong healthy hair. Bought colour wow Dreamcoat and used it twice as per the directions over 10 days. Noticed that a clump of hair from my crown had broken off about 2 inches from the root (my hair is shoulder length). I couldn’t figure out why that was and started to believe I was pulling it in my sleep or something. Following another shampoo and use of the colour wow product I realised more hair had broken off and it looked awful! I realised it must be the colour wow product as I’ve never had anything like this happen before to my usually strong and shiny hair and I haven’t used anything else different. I now have clumps of hair that are 2 to 3 inches long sprouting from the crown of my head, I’m so angry. Who is regulating these products???

Worth the money. Bought lots of products

Bought lots of products - mostly the volume ones tried the carb cocktail and shampoo this time.

Volume ones: amazing, can’t fault. Works well with left in wet hair but best when blow dried. Worth every penny. No residue

Curl cream: amazing! I have more wavy/loose curls. When drys naturally lovely waves/loose curls. If dissuaded then better/tighter curls. No residue

Carb cocktail: can’t see a difference in softness but the purpose is volume so I guess I need to try the different ones. If left to dry for
Wet hair can feel a little crispy. If blowdry no residue and volume!

Shampoo: don’t really rate it but I don’t think I’m washing it out well: yes colour is vibrant/longer lasting but hair feels greesy.

Smooth cream: does take away frizz - you do have to blow dry otherwise crispy feel/some
Frizz remains.

Customer service: great, Annie delt with my issue/refund brilliantly. Overall! Love their products will continue to buy

COLORWOW SHARES YOUR DATA!!

COLORWOW SHARES YOUR DATA!!!
I quite like the products but am ALARMED by the fact that this company will share your data. I recently received an email telling me that my order was being processed. I emailed them to say I hadn’t ordered anything. They replied to say it was a replacement for a faulty item. The next email I received included my address, email address and phone number as the billing information, with someone else’s address as the customer receiving the order. I informed the company of their error and they reassured me they do not share data. However, I received more emails including the Evri delivery information AND the photo of the recipient’s front door. As I have the other customer’s data, I can only assume she has mine and all because we have the same name. I live in Wales and she lives in England but because we have the same name this company confused us. I have asked them to delete all of my data but they have ignored my request.

Color Wow Dreaming hair mask £40.

Color Wow Dreaming hair mask £40.
For the price I expected wonders. It had no effect on my hair at all.
I tried a little, a medium amount and a lot. I tried leaving it on for 10-20 minutes. Still nothing.
I did try to take this up with them but after several emails to the USA I was palmed off to the UK site and I have had no response a month later.
Don’t waste your money. They are trading off a few good products and it would appear the majority are all hype and no substance.

Useless

I’ve bought the root boost which works great but this time I thought I’d try the Bombshell Volumiser. Didn’t realise it was a mousse as there’s nothing on the bottle stating it is. Can be used on dry or wet hair. I tried it on dry. Made absolutely no difference at all. Had the same effect as using a much cheaper mousse. Annoyed that I wasted £25.
