Knowledgeable specialists in flooring including Kahrs
I found Deco Floors on the list of retailers for Kahrs after some water had damaged a section of my flooring. I visited the compact showroom in Farringdon which I'd say is essential if you are not familiar with a floor - there are lots of made-up samples to let you see how they look assembled. I needed a quote for some insurance work and we arranged a morning visit a day or two later to measure up for a free quote.
The measurement also allowed a discussion on how to join to my existing floor which flowed into another room. Kahrs still sell a 15mm product with identical dimensions but the locking system has changed. Allain spotted the finish was different on the new floor, oil vs a satin varnish, something I had not realised. I had to chase the quote up a week or two later as it hadn't appeared.
After some painting was done and the tedious process of dealing with a lethargic insurer we agreed a convenient date for the work. Ivan fitted the floor. He was very organised, methodical and is clearly very skilled at this. On day one it was removal, preparatory work and bonding the first board to my existing floor, day two was the bulk of the work, about a day and 2/3 work in total. The old floor was a bit warped by the water damage but one surprise to me during the removal was the boards had been weakened by the soaking and while it wasn't particularly visible they were clearly affected by mould. I opened all the windows during the removal phase.
Deco Floors were a touch more expensive than my other quote but as the most credible firm I went with them. I'm very happy with the work and would thoroughly recommend them.
