Review summary

Created with AI, based on recent reviews

Considering 32 reviews, most reviewers were let down by their experience overall. Consumers frequently struggle with unhelpful customer support, experiencing long delays, unreturned calls, and complicated warranty registration processes that make getting repairs nearly impossible. Many people also report that brand new equipment breaks down quickly, fails under normal working conditions, or arrives with missing parts. The minority of people were satisfied with the powerful performance of specific heavy-duty tools and older batteries that lasted through years of heavy use. Reviewers also noted that certain circular saws delivered exceptional cutting results and provided very satisfying overall results during projects.

Poor electrical details

I purchased a DeWalt DWE7492 table saw. The only electrical details provided on purchase was 240v and 2000w. When I started the saw for first time it pulled a 16a MCB out. In order to select appropriate MCB for the running current but particularly the starting current or inrush current if different I needed these electrical details. DeWalt could not provide these details which I find unhelpful.

Worthless Warranty and Poor Customer Care

I have a DeWalt DCD776 cordless drill that developed a fault after about 2 1/2 years on very mild use. The hammer / torque selector ring stuck into one position and would not move. (I gather that this is a common fault on these drills). I had registered the 3 year warranty so spoke to DeWalt customer services. All seemed well and the lady sent me a claim form to fill in. I filled in everything with the exception of the original invoice. The drill was purchased by my wife as a present and I noted this on the claim sheet. DeWalt came back saying they would not process the claim without an invoice. I asked my wife if she still had it and she had not kept it. I spoke to Screwfix to get a copy but as it was over 18 months old they could not locate it without an order number. In desperation I trawled through old bank statements and managed to find the transaction. I contacted Dewalt with the good news, only to be told that a bank statement with the actual transaction on was not good enough proof of purchase!! I Despair. If you are in the market for power tools, do yourself a favour; pay the extra and get a Bosch Professional. I would have given this review a big fat zero if I could have done so.

Poor after sales care

I have a DCS391NT-XJ Circular saw purchased in March 2023. I have 3 batteries which work fine with all of my other Dewalt tools but this saw can only cut 1m before the battery dies. Battery has been sent back and replaced, Saw has been sent back and they could find no fault. They then advised that they had no idea what testing was performed and want me to return the saw and a battery for futher testing. Each time I send this back I lose use of the tool for over a week. Really had enough of it. I've asked them to replace the unit but they refuse

Rubbish customer serviceCustomer service agent

Customer service agent, difficult to understand, kept telling me to choose from the drop down box. I kept telling her there was no drop down box. Second agent gave me a seperate code and I was able to register the tool. Rubbish customer service.

Buying DeWalt 🛑 Stop? Read on!…

If you're about to buy a DeWalt 🛑 Stop and reconsider!
I decided to write this review out of necessity to warn future purchasers of DeWalt products and customer services.
I have purchased an arsenal of DeWalt kit over the years without a hitch.
I recently however bought another peice of kit as an upgrade which unfortunately doesn't actually do what it states it will in all of their advertising and also on the box it came in!
When I tackled DeWalt customer service regarding this the best they could come up with was " we are sorry to hear of your disappointment and appreciate your feedback!".
It didn't matter how many times I replied/re-tried and repeated my issue, I always got the same reply, even when I actually spoke with someone on the phone.
Talk about banging your head against a wall!
My warning is this!
If you buy a DeWalt product and need customer services to help you out, don't waste your time and energy, my dissatisfaction with them is way off the scale!
They offer no help whatsoever!

THIS COMPANY IS ONE TO BE AVOIDED

THIS COMPANY IS ONE TO BE AVOIDED. My grandson bought a pair of Dewalt work trousers six weeks ago and they split at the seams. Only to be told the trousers were not covered by Dewalt guarantee it’s was the manufacturer’s we had to contact. Unfortunately they wouldn’t supply the manufacturers name or contact details. DISREGARD FOR A CUSTOMER SELLING ITEMS THAT ARE NOT FIT FOR PURPOSE.

Absolutely joke of a company

Absolutely joke of a company. Paid almost £1000 two years ago for a Flexvolt mitre saw for it to spend most of that time in and out of repairs. Cannot contact anyone other than outsources customer advisors who just talk through their standard lines, and the repair centres cannot do more than keep repairing it. Yet as a small company we’ve suffered hugely on not being able to use such an expensive tool.

Avoid DeWalt

Avoid DeWalt. I made the mistake of believing that I could rely on a 3 year warranty on a DCM575 electric chainsaw. Bought to replace a McCulloch petrol machine. Little use as always out of order. The automatic oiling system is mickeymouse quality. It either flooded the chain bar or didn’t work at all. I returned it three times under warranty to the Dewalt service agent but it was always returned unrepaired. Once I found a ticket attached to it saying no fault found! Now they disown the problem. This is a very large corporation that relies on marketing and huge markups for its retailers. Many years ago I stopped buying Black and Decker. Now I find that Dewalt and Black and Decker are in the same shoddy company group. I’m open to suggestions for a reliable company and products.

Very poor customer service

I have a DCM 575 chainsaw. When I bought this I missed the deadline to extend the warranty. I wrote to DeWalt at the time and explained this. I have a lot of DeWalt tools. I have been buying DeWalt products because I thought that they were the best.

However, just a short time after the one year guarantee expired this chainsaw broke. I took it to ToolFix, one of DeWalt's approved repairers. They said that it needed a new switch and motor assembly, and that it will cost £271.17 + vat. I have a certificate in chainsaw management and routinely follow the maintenance procedures. ToolFix also said “The machine itself looks to be in good condition and has not be misused.”

I don’t use the chainsaw every day in fact not even once a month. I am, therefore, very upset that this has happened and that the cost of repair is so high. £325 is more or less the same cost as purchasing a new DCM 575

I do not think, under these circumstances that the electric motor should have broken. Therefore, I asked that DeWalt to consider paying for the repair or replacing the saw.

After many emails chasing a response, nearly three months later they responded as follows:
"We understand that you have reached out to us right after the warranty expires, unfortunately, this does not change the fact that it is still out of warranty and to be fair to all end users we base coverage on the date of purchase and not the number of usage....the warranty team will not process the claim under warranty"

They then offered to arrange for a repair (at my expense), which showed that they hadn't read all the emails and attachments sent to them, because I had already had it repaired.

To which my final response was:
As you clearly haven’t read the thread or any of the attachments, including the report from your approved repairer, there’s not much more to be said. I suppose your reply was not unexpected because you obviously have no interest in looking after your customers. It is quite clear that this product was not fit for purpose.

I will, therefore, be leaving another bad review on TrustPilot to go with those left by all the other dissatisfied customers. If DeWalt carry on neglecting their customers in this manner they will undermine their business eventually.

PROFITEERING DeWALT

I need a new table saw and I want the DeWALT DWE7491 but there's a catch.
After researching table saws I came across a 2023 review of the 8 best table saws in the USA. The averall result was the DeWALT DWE7491 it won for a number of reasons and 1 of these reasons was price, in the USA ths table saw retails for just $529 dollars which in UK money is around £450. So the cost of the saw in the USA is around half of the UK price. I have seen this saw for around £825 to well over a thousand pounds.
DeWALT are taking advantage of people in the UK and I would ask everyone who wants a new saw to shop around and DO NOT BUY OVERPRICED DeWALT table saws.

Good luck registering for the extended warranty

Tools seem OK but come with an alleged 3 year warranty for which you have to register. Sadly they have made it so complicated that it's impossible. No matter how many times you try, it just doesn't work. Extremely disappointing.

De Walt - big name, poor quality

Yet another complaint about De Walt. 5aH battery,, no longer charges 9 months later. Lost receipt, but battery itself is stamped with date of manufacture and yet De Walt refuse to help. Expensive battery with cheap quality. Much better, cheaper options
