I am going to echo many other reviews
I am going to echo many other reviews. As the platform has got bigger, the reliability of sellers regarding the gradings given to records has plummeted.
2 of the 4 purchases this month have been drastically over graded… and as such been over priced.
Fortunately, in the UK we have the sales of goods act which offers some protection and applies to second hand items as well a new.
Such a bloody shame because Discogs was the greatest point of contact for record lovers across the globe. It’s just to untrustworthy now.
Leaving because of a seller!
After being a member as a buyer since 2019 I'll be closing my account after a recent very unpleasant transaction once all my current orders are fulfilled.
I no longer feel safe buying on the site as the result of one particular sellers trading behaviour.
Unfortunately I can't leave negative feedback because I hear that retaliation feedback is a common problem on the site. Because I'm an occasional buyer with only 26 purchases, of which only 16 sellers have left feedback then one negative strike would lower my current 100% rating to approximately 95%...which would seriously prevent me from purchasing from many sellers. Thus making it pointless staying on the site.
After being charged £6.20 for shipping on one CD the seller got greedy and used the shipping as leverage for more profit. After cutting it too close and not paying enough I've had a £7.00 "Insufficient postage" charge from Royal Mail, bringing the total postage to £13.20 which is absolutely extortionate for UK mainland delivery.
Unfortunately there's no way to resolve this without me picking up negative feedback as the last message from the seller had 'Attitude".....Easier just to go as it's an argument I can't win......The site is not set up correctly!
CRAP Site !
Impossible to sign up for an account as site will not work with all my security enabled , VPN etc !
Accept my security or do without my business fools !
Worst online selling site to operate.
A few years ago I was happily selling a few items on Discogs until they brought in a new Shipping Policies system which was a nightmare to do and so convoluted they issued a 15 minute tutorial video which didn't cover any of the problems one might encounter, so I cancelled my listings.
I decided to try again today as I have a few items to sell and managed to set up the UK policy but for some reason it is not letting me set up one for Europe. I cannot do anything now, not even log out as all I get is a pop up box asking whether I want to save changes and regardless of whether I click yes or no I still cannot log out. There is no customer support either as a chatbot just sends you a ticket with two links, which are of no use.
I have never experienced anything like this ever, they have made a previously good system into one that for me anyway has effectively froze my account.
great except fees
selling fees are too high but the experience as a buyer is flawless and their website is really great and simple to work with. also not a lot of delusional sellers like ebay and not a lot of scalpers either. people know what their media is worth. plenty of other places to sell records like ebay too so they can charge as much as they want as far as im concerned i dont sell on there.

I stopped using Discogs after buying only two items. The first arrived damaged and I'm still waiting for the second item to arrive after 4 weeks.
Not user friendly!
The website is really not user friendly, I recently bought a record and CD, wanted two records and did not realise the search had gone from vinyl only… I won’t use again but will go direct to the sellers own websites, particularly those with physical shops..
Considering the fact that Discogs takes…
Considering the fact that Discogs takes a very high share of your sellings you should expect them to run the website properly and fill the database. They don't. They in fact do absolutely nothing. The database is filled by you & me, their website breaks down constantly (with constantly I mean up to 50 times a day when I check pressings- this is the screen you see all the time: This Page is Unavailable Right Now), nothing works properly, their inventory management is the worst I have ever seen, it all seems Discogs is a cash cow for the owners and that's about it. I really hope there will be an alternative coming up from people who are dedicated. Not like Kevin.

Only just bought one CD,it was as described, it arrived on time, and I am very happy with the article, and the service from Discogs.
Simply The Pinnacle of Evil
Simply The Pinnacle of Evil
I've used the platform for 10+ years. I've sold media, bought media, and submitted 500+ previously undocumented releases. What started as a database for tracking released music, turned into a gluttony-tax for small business owners and hobbyists.
Discord has subtle racism and a superiority complex between music-genres. If you like hip-hop music (old-school, or new) don't use this platform to submit new releases. The middle-aged European white men that plague the platform will track down anything you submit, vote it down, eventually you will be banned from submitting anything, which means if you're a seller, you can't sell it, if you want people to find it in the future for track lists, album art, they won't find it because the community can ban you out of simply nothing.
It's virtually a cesspool of egotistical old-heads, each with their own egotistical views on which artist/band/album is the GOAT, who clash time-and-time-again with one-another. At the same time, they're all so closed-minded when you suggest any form of media released more than 20 years after they were born.
Fraud
Charges higher fees than what is agreed upon and when I email support I get no response. What is usually called fraud.

Something is really wrong.
I am currently seeking legal representation due to ongoing harassment, cyberbullying, and privacy violations on Discogs.com by both users and staff. Certain users have publicly attempted to expose what they believe to be my account details, targeted my posts to damage my reputation, and interfered with my business operations. They even started a separate thread in a forum to collude on how to get rid of me. After filing a complaint with the CCPA and the Attorney General of my state, my account was suspended in what appears to be retaliation. Discogs customer support stated that my account was suspended for using abusive language on a submission page, but they provided no evidence of any abusive language, as there was none. There is clearly something wrong with the way things are handled there.

I’ve ordered a vinyl and they sent me a “promotional vinyl” which was absolutely not what I ordered. After contacting them several times they didn’t offer me a refund nor replacement

I am being denied access to this site by Google and for no warrented reason. However, I am unable to reach Discogs to inform them of Google's malicious behaviour. I am in the Uk and am being refused UK related searches on the site. Google are also denying me the app, stopping my progress with fabricated error messages and requesting that I comfirm my age. I am 68.

Discogs + PayPal Are No Longer Safe Nor Fun To Be With Since Both Companies Are Demonizing Customers ! Discogs + PayPal Are Totally Being Run By Faulty AI Computer Without A Human Customer Service + PayPal Is Completely Linked As The Only Unreliable Forced Payment Option ! The Promise Of Buyer Protection Is A False Promise , Only To Lure Customers !!!

Discogs + PayPal Are Demonizing Customers + Discogs Is Now Totally Being Run By Faulty AI Computer Without Having A Real Active Human Customer Service + PayPal Is Completely Linked To Be The Only Forced Payment Option , And It Is A Dangerously Unreliable One At That Too For Bot Buyers And Sellers !!!

The Discogs System Itself Is Totally In Shambles And Seems To Be Completely Run By Faulty AI (Artificial Intelligence) ! Low-level place
Low-level place. The website functions so badly that it isn't possible to make a profile to buy from them. They also don't have any customer service, just a chatbot which, like all other chatbots, is no help at all. Finally, they don't answer comments on Facebook, nor do the respond to the socalled "tickets" customers are encouraged to make if the need help. Makes you wonder why they run the website - don't they want to sell anything??
Mixed bag of sellers
Mixed bag of sellers. Some decent quality pre-owned CDs and relatively quick delivery on most items. I have today chosen to close my account for two reasons. One there is only the option of paying by PayPal and two, I've had a really negative experience with a seller/not received order and that's the last straw. I'll search elsewhere to add to my CD collection. Disappointing.
Bought and paid for an item
Bought and paid for an item, then the seller just canceled saying that I had not responded to a message, given there was no message on Discogs I am not sure how I could respond, Discogs need to implement rules of selling to the site

Goodbye discogs
Discogs always had and still have a lot of problems. It seems like Discogs prefers to save and keep a buyer instead of a seller. Buyers are usually a step above sellers.
Let me start from the beginning:
I use to sell on Discogs, until my last transaction almost everything was ok.
Then i met this guy from the balkans, he made an order and few days later he opened a paypal claim, stating that i didn't send his package.
So, i gave him the tracking code, i went to the shop asking for a proof of shipping which they gave me.
I had to deal with discogs and paypal which treated me like a thief. It's 10 years that i'm dealing with these sites and i'm surprised how bad they treat you as a seller, on this platform.
In the end the guy received his box, but paypal blocked my account for over 1 month because of this claim, even because the guy didn't want to close the claim.
I gave a negative feedback to the buyer, and he run to discogs to cry. Of course Discogs decided to remove not just my Review (that by the way was simple and clean, no lies or bad words) but they removed another 2 bad reviews for absolutely no reason!!!
Now, he made a mess to my discogs account, he made a mess to my paypal account for a month, and now he's enjoying his brand new crystal-clear profile. Free to mess with other sellers.
So, i decided to close my account. i'm moving to other sites.
Remember, if you want to get something on Discogs just open a ticket and cry them a river, it always works.
Farewell
