Abysmal Support

Abysmal support despite taking a hefty chunk for using their outdated website.

As a seller, I quickly send out records to keep a solid rating. Recently I messed up and sent the record before receiving payment.

After trying to contact the buyer for payment and getting no reply, I sent a ticket to Discogs. They sent an automated reply saying “sounds like this is the issue X article could help. Reply if you need more”. This was after already sifting through the website and FAQs to get the support email.

I followed up twice with them and have gotten no reply. Considering many sellers work hard to get merchandise sent to buyers in a timely manner, I would expect the same from the company taking a fee. The record would have been delivered already if I hadn’t package intercepted it.

This company does not care about the buyer or seller. They use an outdated website and payment and offer no real support. Someone is getting rich off of offering a subpar selling experience. I will most likely be moving permanently to eBay.

Privacy violations and artist harassment

Just read Akis's review about bullying and privacy violations by the site's "privileged users" and want to confirm that this is what happens to artists if they attempt to correct copyright, private, publisher, or release information in the Discogs database. After I corrected information about one of my releases, one of the "privileged users" went in and put back incorrect information (about the instruments used on my tracks), and there it stays. I don't dare go back in to edit my release and expose myself to the same vile bullying I experienced on their forums when I tried to correct incorrect information about my works in the database. As long as the "privileged users," who appear to be mostly malignant narcissists, have the final say on the artist and his releases, without regard to accuracy or copyright law, all is well in the delusional world of the Discogs privileged user.

These malignant narcissists appear to be consumed with white-hot rage and seething envy because they likely have little to no talent in any arena, and are incensed by those with the discipline and talent it takes to actually produce something and share it with the world. Like Akis (don't know him but his experience mirrors mine), I was harassed in public threads that showed up on Google because one of the malignant narcs found a photo of me that is under a certain type of copyright agreement and cannot be used without the photographer's or my permission. The narcs teamed up against me to post the photo (because the narc is God, and copyright laws don't apply to God) even as I took it down in real time to adhere to copyright law. Illegal activities (copyright infringement, posting fraudulent labels and fake licensing agreements, etc.) not only occur on the site, they are actively supported by Discogs management because the management favors the "privileged user" over the artist himself, who has primary-source information about who played on the track, who the publisher is, etc. The reality is, the world is finally waking up to these vile narcissists and there are books and videos aplenty about how to defeat them. Hint: we stop enabling them. Because Discogs management has turned the site into a cesspool that enables the bullying and harassment of artists, you too are enabling this vile behavior if you continue to use the site. You can make a difference in the world by doing a lot of seemingly small things that add up to major change. One way to start is to stop buying and selling on this site and let it die a natural death.

PRIVACY VIOLATION !!! DISCOGS ACTED ILLEGALLY AND AVOID TO REPLY!!!

Poor grading vinyl record sleeve

I've just have a bad experience with a seller that has 100% positive feedback. He sold me a record graded as VG. The media was actual VG but the problem was the sleeve. I was considering a sleeve way better than the one I received. The seller don't do returns or refund. As I'm a new buyer with just 3 feedbacks I couldn't do anything about it.

Discogs fail to support buyers

Been using Discogs for few years. Got scammed by a seller. Contacted Discogs several times over two weeks. No reply from Discogs, despite getting emails assuring me that they will contact me and assist. Discogs have shown that they are a rubbish site, especially given that some months ago Discogs had the gall to send out emails stating that their support has improved in cases where you deal with fraudulent sellers. Nothing could be further from the truth. In the past they used to have an email address that you could contact Discogs on. They removed this and now have a useless bot that doesn't work and directs you to a dead end brick wall.
**Note that Discogs replied to this review by stating that they will contact me, but this has not happened. The weeks roll by and no support from Discogs.

App rubbish, loads of scams, no support.

I found Discogs OK for a while then I bought a few things, got scammed a couple of times which Paypal sorted. Got refunded a couple of times as sellers had sold stock on other platforms and not removed it from Discogs. Left negative feedback for those sellers which Discogs removed. Noticed after a short while the huge amount of duplicate listings under barcode / catalogue numbers.
App was pretty rubbish, continually get logged out and then what topped it for me was being unable to access the app at home through my WiFi. I either had to use a VPN or turn WiFi off and use mobile data. Raised a support ticket and got no response.
I did list a few items that weren't in their database (new titles only) only to see duplicate listings the following day of same item so that became a waste of time too!
Be happy with your collection in front of you rather than on an app or pc is my advice!

The bots won't let me access my account…

Every site i know uses email and password to gain access. Not discogs- the have that plus a username. I have spent 45 minutes twice now, because I can't access my account, and there's no way around it or through it. I've been turned over to ridiculous bots that offer options. Options that other bots respond to- or in my case run me back through the same mill- all the while insinuating that my account might be " suspended", but not telling me exactly how to check my account status. All the while " we're listening" appears out of nowhere. WHAT? I'm trying to buy a used cd- not gain top secret access to xyz... There are plenty of other sources, I'm done with didcogs.

I have been a member since 2015

I have been a member since 2015, used to work in record industry so put lots of vinyl on this site having spent months uploaded the vinyl and images. Sold alot of records on this site and brought loads. Not been on it for a few months, went to log in and then all of my records that had listed for sale just been deleted....

Totally shocking funny how they decided to keep the ones that I had brought via the site..

Disgusting behaviour for a so called reputable vinyl site....

Account deleted

Discogs don't seem to want to do anything about fraudulent sellers. Looks like a few other people have been caught out with a particular seller, who still has an account on Discogs. Thankfully, my bank sorted out a refund but I won't use the service again, I've deleted my account.

Discogs seem to believe that the Vinyl…

Discogs seem to believe that the Vinyl Buying Public are stupid. They offer sellers who are not verified, they will not let you buy unless you have a PAYPAL account. Paypal are now known for treating their customers like dirt.
So, if you want poor comms, bad sellers, deal with Paypal the Corporate abuses...this site is for you.

Good as a resource; terrible for business/buying.

Discogs is quite an adequate resource as a database for music collectors to corroborate pressings and editions, and how to differentiate them; although its content is 100% based on community corroboration and general public knowledge of existence - it doesn’t have everything on there. As a platform to buy, it’s terrible - the user experience of doing business breaks the fundamental rule of sales: “if it can’t be seen, it won’t be bought” - no images of the items, unlike most of the listings on eBay by comparison. Since the customer service and general communication experience is absolutely awful, I’d honestly recommend using Discogs in tandem with eBay - the former as reference; the latter to BROWSE and buy.

Initially wanted to give 2.5 stars, but - thankfully - I realised it wasn’t possible; I say “thankfully” because of having my time wasted by the site’s idiotic and annoying account/log in policies, and waiting hours to be able to log back in, only to be told I’m unable to purchase an item I had logged in to inquire about, but due to my rating not being high enough I was unable to purchase it, in spite of the fact that I had tried to at least inquire about the item. I guess Discord wants me to spend it elsewhere.

I have so far had no problem with any…

I have so far had no problem with any of the sellers on discogs, I wanted a rare album on cassette tape and found excellent seller on here, all the way in Indonesia and was really happy with the service and item, so not at all bad. Have bought several items so far and never any issues at all. Just remember to read the reviews first and I go by those as my security before buying, then you'll find yourself some favourite sellers from anywhere in the world as I've done.

Should be ZERO stars

Should be ZERO stars! Their customer service is the worst I have ever come across. A market leader in sales, so they're just not bothered about anything as long as the money rolls in. I sell on there and their refund system doesn't work. But they're not bothered about fixing the issue. When you conatct them about anything, it can take around 2 weeks for a reply! BEWARE!!!

If you want too get get fooledd!!! Just use this s.... company..
Me and a customer agreed that I will make an refund, cause the expenses for the shipment are too high! But you can not cancel it on Discogs, it just says " Error" what ever i am typing.
So i have to pay all the expenses for the return, the only one who is having a good time,is Discogs foolling its customers.

Worst customer service I’ve ever…

Worst customer service I’ve ever experienced. Not even going to bother going into detail about my circumstance as I’ve already exhausted myself talking to thin air for months until an “employee” finally showed up and offered a sad excuse for “solved”.

It’s a shame because the users are generally great and I enjoyed buying a lot of my grails with zero issues up until the system makes a mistake and then you actually have to *try* to talk to a customer support that is pretty much non existent. Which is insane in itself because how do you have such little actual customer support when the customers and sellers are keeping your business afloat? Never experienced anything like it.

Discogs Are Awesome

I'm absolutely astounded why there's so much hate for Discogs on here. I've sold my drum and bass vinyl on Discogs since 2012 and made a few thousand out of it and never encountered a problem.

It's a fair marketplace with a good balance between rules and freedom as a seller and their service works really well.

The catalogue system is the best, every obscure white label and promo is on here. It feels like a community rather than just a website

Discogs : it's a 50/50 chance!!!

Many years ago I was a Discogs buyer because I like to listen to and collect records that are often hard to find. After one too many bad deals without recompense I closed my account. I recently took the plunge and rejoined but already after only a few transactions at least a third have been difficult, slow or just not happened at all. One non-sale in particular attracted some rather nasty seller abuse because I left negative feedback - something I rarely have cause to do but says it all. It's an awful position to be put in! I have only made a few purchases but already the uncertainty of doing business on this site is probably going to see me close my account again. A shame really - I'm sure many of the sellers are ok but everything starts with the buyers money and then who knows what after that!!? As much as I want to collect records I just don't trust the process. 2 stars for the deals that worked out but could easily be 0 stars overall for the stress.
