£850 WASHER 3 YEARS OLD I HAVE A PLAN IN PLACE D & G HAVE BEEN OUT TWICE CAN'T FIX IT SO SHOULD REPLACE WHEN THIS WAS TOLD TO ME THEY ESCALATED CALL TO DO THIS BUT I WAS TOLD THE PLAN IS GOING TO BE CANCELLED BUT DONT WORRY I WILL NOT BE CHARGED FOR THE CALL OUTS, WHAT A JOKE
Took out a policy for a fridge freezer…
Took out a policy for a fridge freezer repair. Sounded like a fair deal. Ice wasn't dspensing and water didn't stop when you released the button. The engineer visited and seemed to fix it. The ice despenser does work but if you look up where the ice comes out he has covered the old flap with gaffa tape. Not exactly hygenic, the water dispencer worked for about a week before the fault returned and now water is leaking out. All in all it would have been better if they hadn't got anywhere near it
disappointing service
fault reported 3 May and still awaiting repair of washing machine
Will complete review once repair is completed although Pacifica appear to have completed it although DPD still have the parts from them in transit to me for engineer visit on 15 June

Multiple Appliance Issues
Had a faulty washer drier in April 2023.
It took 4 engineering visits over 6weeks.
Went faulty again so complaint to D&G who reluctantly agreed to replace machine.
This week Dishwasher developed a fault with 2 repairs under its belt.
Asked D&G to consider replacing this appliance due to me still being in probation in new role & I dont want more time off work to fix this. The appliance is almost end of life anyhow.
Flat refusal to help and nearest engineer appointment over a week away.
Terrible service.
Cancelled policy now & bought new appliance, worked out I can replace appliance every 3 years based on their charges.
This company used to be reasonable but have gone down hill massively.
DO NOT INSURE WITH THEM !
Very sneaky
Had a few calls from a 020 number, I finally answered and was suspicious from the start, he gave me the impression he was from Sky asking me if I was happy with Sky glass, he then told me they were adding more channels in July (which I have since found out it is not true) then pushed the cover on the Sky glass tv. I called the number today and found out it was domestic and general. Very sneaky
7 weeks since engineer came out and no…
7 weeks since engineer came out and no spare parts. Phoned several times and been assured each time that they are on the way but never arrive. Virtually impossible to contact, when you do get through it seems they are all working at home. Finally told that they will investigate and get back to me I. 2 days. Then get a text saying it will be 5 working days.
Domestic & General beware
Domestic & General
Complete and utter disgraceful company (trying to be polite)
Very elderly relative left with no washing machine for 4 months having to clean clothing in the bath. D&G sent 3 engineers from Bosch (another useless company) wasn’t resolved with Bosch closing the case but still broken machine.
After I contacted D&G multiple times on behalf of my relative speaking to them but scarily no data protection (illegal) got an engineer to basically say it needed replacing straight from the start. 2 more cancelled appointments but finally a new machine on the way. Promised they would plumb the new washer and remove the old one. The new one was left in the kitchen not plumbed in and old washer left on the driveway.
Asked for the premiums to be reimbursed for time without washer but received letter refusing.
No duty of care, data protection violations. Complete and utter useless cowboys. Please stay away
Rude 'yoof'
Already have domestic appliance insurance with this company. I was called today by a salesman, who began by asking me for the first line of my address and postcode for security reasons. When I remided him that it was him who was calling me, and that I should be asking him for security identification, he hung up on me. With fifty years experience of sales/marketing experience, up to directorship level,I would like to inform the untrained 'yoof' that selling is more than 'click, onto the next commission.'
Bad Customer Care from Domestic & General
We have been with Domestic & General for year’s.
Most of our appliances are covered by them.
We have had great service for about 70% of our repair’s/ replacement’s.
Nearly a month ago our bedroom 43 LG TV fell off it’s stand, I was fortunate enough to have been close enough to stop it crashing to the floor.
It is on a boomerang stand, and we were shocked to notice that holding this large TV up was on a tiny Phillips head screw, the type that you put on a battery cover of a child’s toy!
For safety reasons I did make LG aware of this, as it is dangerous.
A few day’s later it came crashing down at four a.m.
D&G arranged for a repair company called Emsted in Coventry to take a look at it.
Both Sarah & Sian were brilliant, the repair man was great.
Due to safety issues after a third crash from the TV.
They sent me an email to get in touch with D&G to arrange a replacement.
They have a few pleasant staff members, but some clearly hate their job’s, and do not have any intention’s of giving good customer care.
I have spent upwards of nine hours on the phone trying to sort out a replacement, made slightly complicated for us both as we have two televisions covered with them, but the other TV is on our Sky policy, that is covered by D&G.
Several times they sent the link to choose a replacement, always within a two hour window, these links never arrived .
Get to last Tuesday after no contact due to D&G being closed for the Bank Holiday.
Still no link received!
Eventually on Wednesday, I got to speak to a human , linked sent, still not received, so I spoke to another lady she had me on hold for about an hour.
She found a replacement. I was pleased as it was the one that I had found, an LG 43UR910OLA, this has a flat base stand, not boomerang stand , or two tiny stand legs either side.
We cross referenced our model number,
I was pleased that we had found the same one.
I made it clear what sort of base that I needed.
I had to wait for a delivery which was today (Saturday 3rd June). However they sent the wrong model, LG 43UQ91, this has a boomerang stand!!!!
I am vulnerable & only sleep for a few hour’s so the television is important to me, they know about this, and apparently when you are on hold for ages, their automated recording tells us how important their customer’s are.
I will now have to waste the best part of another week trying to sort this out, another week of long nights.
This is a company that bombards you with cold calls to try and get you to add to your plan, please just get back to giving a more reliable experience, and make life easier for your loyal customer’s.
Domestic & General have cancelled my…
Domestic & General have cancelled my appointment twice!! There is no communication in what is happening. It is always down to the customer to ring and find out. The advisors are not always helpful and will most of the time blind transfer you. I have a pregnant woman in the household and my heating is not working due to a repair authorised by Domestic and General!! It has almost been over 4 weeks and you have cancelled my appointment twice including today!! Please contact me!! Yes Contact me!!! No body is helping.
In a separate matter, an engineer has also damaged my property in the past and domestic and general response was “take it up with home insurance” how rude!!
I am severely stressed and this is affecting my health due to no heating!!!
I have a few items covered with you and I will be looking to cancel if there is no resolve!!!!
This is a on going issue!!!!!
The 93% 1 star speaks for itself
The question when starting your review is, "What went wrong this time?"
Even Trustpilot knows loL
It should say, "What went right this time?" in which the answer would be "Nothing."
Got the warranty for my washer and dryer back in December 2022 because my washer started acting up. I was told the warranty won't go into effective until 30days (sometime in January), in which the washer went completely down by then. I called about an appointment for a technician to come out. Appointment was scheduled for 2 weeks after the warranty went into effect.
It's now June 2023, and my washer is completely broken 4-5 service calls/technicians later, and they are still trying to order parts and work on it.
I'm thinking over these months, how many times and people does it take to fix 1 washer? It's a part broken everytime someone works on it and/or another part that needs ordering. One technician broke the agitator completely and told D&G it needed to be broken in order for everything to be fixed. What type of s*** is that?!?!? Nothing was wrong with the gears. It was always the gears/belts underneath the washer that needed replacing.
I just said to hell with both companies, if it aint fixed after
working on it for 6months, just start looking for a new washer.
I'll be canceling my membership tomorrow, and my father in-law told me to tell them to kiss his ass as a whole lol
Don't waste your money or your peace trying to get your appliances repaired through them. It isn't worth the frustration and headache.
I have been paying insurance for the…
I have been paying insurance for the best part of 15 years on almost every appliance, multiple mobile phones, iPads et al! D&G happily collect your money but boy when a claim comes the lies and deceit go on and on! Forget about telling them how they beg you on their recorded messages to tell them about any disabilities you may have because they also don’t care! If you want to save your self all the frustration, anger, hate, despair, desperation and anguish you feel when you go through a claim with D&G including downing 2 weeks dealing with a Complaint and a John Scully the claim assessor, DO NOT INSURE WITH Domestic & General DO NOT INSURE WITH THEM! They are deceitful and they do not follow their own T&C and their apologies mean ZERO! They are a ripoff and I would rather be whipped with a nail whip 100 times a day for the rest of my life than Insure with these deceitful scum again!
Worst is they send you a dirty filthy grimy replacement because they can’t fix the iPad they said they waiting for parts and then 15 no sorry 20 days later they send you a replacement which is still awaiting parts to be replaced for another customer!
Seriously you can’t make this up! How they are still surviving in this economic climate is unbelievable!
ENOUGH is ENOUGH!
Waste of time, don't bother. They don't care as long as they get paid.
I have been with D&G for approximately 10 years, and recently my washing machine has been broken for a month. Making me pay £200 (£11 a load) for the privilege of using external washing machines and then only offering me £60 (£3.00 a load) in compensation, even though they are posting about they are passionate about helping in the cost of living crisis makes me laugh. Since I have been paying about £17 a month to the company over this very long period, I think that this is very poor especially as the money I have paid could have brought several new washing machines. Even the money I have spent washing my children's clothes over the past month would have brought one. This doesn't even include the times that I have had to have off work to accommodate the engineer who then goes onto cancel. All evidence can be provided.
Our washing machine broke down on 5th…
Our washing machine broke down on 5th April it's now 22nd May and 4 visits later it's still not fixed and receiving no help from Domestic and General. What a waste of money, off to the launderette
What a con!!
Replacement appliances offered were all lower spec than my original. The one I was willing to compromise onone which had an upgrade fee which they would not waiver but were willing to waiver fee on Hotpoint model which was still a lower spec. I was advised would only consider waiving fee on Hotpoint or indesit models even though they were all lower spec. Still not reached a conclusion, have been cut off 3 times from live chat and all this time I have no fridge
22/05/2023 Update had to settle for a model of lower spec or pay an upgrade fee. When I said I also wanted to make a formal complaint they said if I did this then they couldn’t replace fridge/freezer until complaint was dealt with. How’s that for blackmail!
Had an awful day with this company
Had an awful day with this company. I have been paying into 3 plans, washing machine, dryer, dishwasher for years. My washing machine needs a repair and I tried to book a repair online but as it’s still in warranty I couldn’t book it, so I ring the number which after all the rubbish you have to listen to just tells me there’s nobody to talk to at the end. I ring back and chose the option to receive a text for a link to start an online conversation, the link doesn’t work. I manage to speak to someone by pressing any button possible to be told I need to speak to whirlpool, while thing starts again. Eventually D&G gets me through to Whirlpool who book me an appointment for the same day, great! I get a message saying the guy will come by 14:54, I get a message at 13:39 to say ‘Gavin will be with you in 0 minutes’. Yes, zero! Gavin didn’t turn up. I ring Whirlpool who actually answer this time, I’m told the engineer is making out he is at my house at that very moment, the representative tries calling him several times, he won’t answer. This is the second time this same engineer has done this. This guy is pretending to be at my house working and is in fact doing something else entirely. I have had to book another appointment for 4 days time, I made sure it’s a different engineer. Seriously, you wouldn’t believe it unless you experienced it.
Beware of paying Insurance to Domestic and General
I have paid Domestic and General Insurance for 12 years for my 6 kitchen Appliances; costing me about a total of £12000!! I have only had a new fridge. My Hob has not been working properly but I had to wait 6 weeks for a replacement and I HAD TO PAY £90 for fitting! The money that Whirlpool actually receive for fitting is £4.50!! So D&G even make a profit on the fitting charge . Unbelievable!!!!!
DO NOT USE - they are an absolute disgrace
they are an absolute disgrace, do not waste your money on this company , they continually fail to supply support when paid for, having a service plan for our boiler that cost on excess of £500 per year when we booked a service two years running we simply get passed to 3rd party engineers, none of whom are able to service oil fuelled boiler, send gas fitters each time who cannot work on the boiler and then cancel annual service because they send an automated job closure, rang up to cancel the policy and they simply don't care...dont WASTE your money
If I could negative stars I would
If I could negative stars I would. They took over three months to fix my dishwasher. They sent the wrong engineer to me not once but three times. Washing machine instead of dishwasher one. They said it improperly set up my account. Despite changing several times. Over 18 hours spent on hold and several phone calls. Had a few rude people talk me. Some even blamed and said was my fault. Rang all the time I was work. That colleagues knew the story word for word. It was a absolute joke. They change several parts of the dishwasher before they finally budged to give me a like for like. Even though a couple to the engineers requested this over month. They renew my contract even though I cancelled it because this dilemma and took my payment out accounts. Had ring twice for refund. Avoid at all costs!
