Go elsewhere - this firm is not trustworthy at any branch

I recently transferred my ~$145,000 brokerage account out of Edward Jones, and the experience left me extremely disappointed, both in terms of transparency and how the transfer was handled.

While working with Edward Jones, I was told my portfolio performed well (around 14% in one year), but it was never clearly communicated how much I was actually paying in total fees. Between the advisory fee and the expense ratios of the funds I was placed in, I later realized I was paying thousands of dollars per year. These costs were not presented in a clear, all-in manner, which made it difficult to understand the true impact on my returns.

The most concerning part of my experience was during the transfer process. I was told that I would incur taxes and commissions on each position simply for transferring my account. When I asked for this information to be provided to me in writing, that claim was not substantiated.

In reality, my transfer was completed almost entirely in-kind. Only one minor position was sold, resulting in approximately $50 in gains (roughly $15 in taxes), and no per-stock commissions were charged.

Being given inaccurate or unclear information during this process created unnecessary stress and felt highly misleading. The tone and approach I experienced during the transfer were also unprofessional and made an already stressful situation worse.

After completing the transfer, everything arrived intact, and it became very clear how much I had been overpaying in fees relative to the value I was receiving.

My advice to anyone considering Edward Jones is to ask for a full breakdown of ALL fees — not just the advisory fee, but also the internal expense ratios of the funds being recommended. It is also important to understand why specific investments are being selected and how those recommendations are compensated.

Transparency in financial services is critical, and unfortunately, that was not my experience here.

I’m relieved to have moved my account and now have full visibility and control over my investments.

Estate Personal Rep Dealing with Edward Jones

Please don’t use Edward Jones!

I don’t have an account with Edward Jones, but my parent did. They only had one because they inherited the funds and it must have seemed impossible to get it out of there because her I am, now processing their passing and it’s a nightmare.

Both my parents have passed away and I’m dealing with getting the funds out of Edward Jones. They are slow, don’t know what they are doing and have ridiculous approval processes and fees. It will take your family members month to process anything with them.

Don’t use them so you family members never have to be put through what we are dealing with.

Regret moving investments

The employee seemed to know her funds, which is why I am giving one star, besides that, I never had issues with Fidelity and moving everything aside from my 401k, has been nothing but a mountain of paperwork, denied transfers and continuous phone calls to both institutions, which has shown that the issue was on Edward Jones' end. Now everything is supposed to be completed, aside some residuals. However, when I try to log into the app or website, it either says account has been closed or User ID not recognized. What a circus. I should have stayed with Fidelity.

Offer Rescinded After Background Clearance and Start Date

I accepted an offer for the Field Supervision Officer II position with Edward Jones. I completed all required pre-employment steps, including submitting background information, and received written confirmation that all contingencies were satisfied. I was also provided onboarding materials and a confirmed start date.

Based on these confirmations, I made professional decisions in reliance on the offer, including declining other job opportunities. Shortly thereafter, I received a phone call from a representative I had never spoken with before informing me that the firm would not be moving forward with my employment. The only explanation provided was that it was a “business decision.” No further clarification was given regarding the reason for the rescission, and my attempts to seek more information from HR were met with minimal response.

This sequence of events caused significant professional and personal disruption. Candidates rely on written confirmations and onboarding communication to make important career and life decisions. The lack of transparency and communication during this process created undue stress and left me without a clear understanding of the reason behind the withdrawal.

While I understand that employment offers can be rescinded, the timing and handling of this situation represents a severe failure in candidate experience and professional communication. I am documenting this complaint to raise awareness of the process gap and encourage Edward Jones to ensure that candidates who have cleared contingencies and received start-date confirmation are treated with the respect, clarity, and transparency that any professional deserves.

I hope this feedback prompts review and improvement of internal hiring practices, especially regarding communication and handling of confirmed offers.

Dealing with Sharon Covey in Okeechobee…

Dealing with Sharon Covey in Okeechobee Florida has left a bad taste in my mouth. Twice we has gone to "borrow monies" from our investment. Twice she made a mistake on paper work and funds have not made it to our bank on time. Twice she has put us in financial danger by not transferring the funds. I am not happy with the service for this company. I'm ready to take our investments somewhere else. 01-30-2026

AVOID LIKE THE PLAGUE

AVOID LIKE THE PLAGUE.
This place is just awful.
I lost my job and needed a place to invest my money for some possible growth. BIG MISTAKE. They looooooooooooved me at first. I've read that's because they make their most money from new account signings. They then lost all interest in me. All interest. When my (high unprofessional financial advisor) would call and review my portfolio, it was always, "You are doing very, very well... very well..." and we would log into the account... and there was MAYBE $1,000 growth there. That was "very, very well". Lastly, do not take money out for financial hardship. They will insult and degrade you for it. I actually had to complain to the home office for their treatment towards me.
We finally closed our account permanently for January 2026.
GO ELSEWHERE!

Confiscatory Fees Hidden from you

I have been with EJ for over 22 years. Up until 2017 their fees were seemingly inline with other companies and also reasonable in their pricing. In 2017 they implemented several programs that you were forced into and instead of annual fees -these programs became monthly fees and were far beyond unreasonable. I had two accounts for me and two for my spouse. Each account showed the same pattern of fees consuming up to 60% of my monthly growth (month to month). In spite of this, their website showed gains of 12-14%. The gains or the fees were not reconcilable in their plethora of statements you get. When I assembled 5 years of data on this -EJ could not explain the variance between their Return % and what I had come up with. I gave my wonderful friend and partner at EJ this information and asked for a response in 5 days. I got none. I proceeded to rollover all my EJ assets to my former employer company plan (new accounts etc) and that began a very long and tedious process with EJ blocking and holding to extract their monthly fees when possible. I dont trust their statements, their advice or their tools to provide me with anything accurate. I dont think taking 65-80% of my monthly growth is in any way justifiable.

Hershal Stone and Edward Jones has lost…

Hershal Stone and Edward Jones has lost 67 % of my life savings. They are thieves and do not follow instructions. I started with 430000 and after 5 years they lost down to 190000. I believe this company is corrupt. When I write and tell my story I get rude mean letters from Edward Jones. Edward Jones has ruined my life. I wake up every day angry that Hershal Stone is making money by losing my life savings. He knows he has me trapped because to make any moves to leave Edwards will cause me to realize losing everything.

HIDDEN FEES, DISHONEST ADVISORS

With Edward Jones for 4 years in West Dundee, IL. Hidden fees only shown to me after leaving for Charles Schwab, who charges me a flat .8 with total transparency. Ed Jones was 1.5. My dishonest advisor once told me he didn't need me. I took his advice. Happy as can be with Schwab. 3 people on my team, including CFP, another with MBA at no extra charge

Edward Jones~ Indian Wells is excellent!

Just a note that hopefully resonates with others in my community. Edward Jones in Indian Wells has proven more than once that they truly care about their clients. When I had a question about some of my retirement, even though that part was with a dif $ manager, they looked into it and answered my question. How many companies do you leave walking out saying, ‘I’m so glad we found them’. So besides the bonus of being with Edward Jones, it’s as important to be with kind peeps that care. Good peeps deserve a shout out 👍🏻. Thank you Deanna & Jonetta. 10 stars ~ J. Fields

Terrible service

Terrible service. Huge platform and service fees. People need to do their homework before using these scammers. They don't offer tax advice they are nothing but salesmen. I wished I would have listened to everyone earlier. They charge $95 transfer fee to close acct on EVERY acct. but you can get reimbursed from your new advisor. Stay away from this place. Their customer service is the worst no one is ever in the office - always on vacation. The 800 number is a joke - they disconnected me 3 times. Avoid at all COST!!!

No do not trust them

No do not trust them! They are part of the problem! After 10 years with the same advisor I am shocked at how they are now Assisting my soonXhusband to Unfairly Compensate me in our divorce!
No problem provided fake statements & Helping Hide Transfers to Undisclosed Accounts & Then Lied to the Judge in Court? Now in contempt of the Decree still trying to hide 6 accounts & then Cashed in my IRA 10 years early & against my instructions? Antiquated Good ol'Boy Bullsh**t & No Womens Rights in Sight!! This N.Scottsdale office is still in a Community Property State? I feel like it's 1885! Instead of 2025! Who takes this abuse from the people who work for them? How many lawsuits & complaints & How many women have been denied their own Assets so the advisor can keep the income earning Spouse in their business! I am looking at 50 months of statements & last page has the list of linked accounts? Every employee has lied & told me there are six accounts? Outside lawyers Quarrels and Brady also joined in? Luckily SoonX jad disclosed 11 acts 4 or 5 times before they changed it & said only six? All edjones still sticking to the fake story? Why is Edward Jones still in business if they have no ethical obligations to the Truth? No fiduciary or responsibility to both Spouses? After all the years in business no instructions for Employees to behave Assisting clients in divorces? Instead they only make it Worse!
Would have more if we put it in the mattress! If my ex didn't divert it to his own accounts then Advisor really did give the worst returns ever?
No either way! Women are half the population & they don't care

Kingston Ontario

I'm in Kingston Ontario and my advisor is on the ball and have been with him since 2017. Returns averaged @6% so ok. I sold my house and dropped half to EJ and half to CIBC. The bank PPS portfolio of medium risk all CDN funds BEAT EJ which has many American companies that should have outperformed it! When I wanted to remove several "dog" stocks my rep got argumentative. The fees are higher even with a discount. Then I transferred my Open account to bank last fall which took 2 months! Now I'm moving all my accounts ( some funds are not possible) with paperwork sent 8 January and now mid February. My investments are down and still charged mgnt fees plus transfer fees with no explanation or email reply from HO for the delays. To customer account transfer etc
PATHETIC CUSTOMER SERVICE!
Easy to get in, harder to leave, beware!

I moved my investments over to Schwab…

Last year I moved my investments over to Schwab and Edward Jones closed out my ability to access information online. On January 24, 2025, I was sent an email that my tax info was delivered online which I cannot access. Why would they send tax documents to an account they removed online access to? I tried to send a contact form online regarding the issue and was directed to my advisor or the online tax number. There is no option for my issue on the tax menu options, nothing even close. I have been unable to get anyone from Edward Jones to respond. Best decision I made was moving everything out of this company. Still no tax documents as of today. Poor customer service, to say the least.

I let Edward Jones run my self direct…

I let Edward Jones run my self direct portfolio with the promise of professional performance. I got the opposite. Besides the exuberant fees they sold my best performing stocks and replaced them with items which underperformed and lost up to 50% in value.
Took my portfolio back and i am running it better than ever.
I guess it was the price to realize I can do much better than EJ.
