AVOID THIS COMPANY
I've had my 7 figure IRA with Jones for years (because the area Schwab office closed), and am less than pleased. My Jones rep keeps less than standard hours, and even worse, is not standing by a Jones IRA distribution mistake. My Jan, 2025 distro was deposited in late Dec 24, making part of my 2024 tax year, not the 2025 year that it should have been. His office said the mistake was new software, and nothing they could do. Basically a "tough sh1t, sucks to be you" attitude. Schwab was so much better.

So far Brian Ramaker has done well over the last 5 years. Financial planning isn’t what I do so I just let him do whatever he’s thinks best and I’ve gotten about 14%|year
Misrepresentation & Poor Service
My Edward Jones rep lied throughout our work together. I had medium risk tolerance, but investment strategy she put in was aggressive. When I planned to move to another firm, she said there was no penalty to move my money from an EJ Roth IRA to another firm. Then when my transfer went through, EJ charged a $95 termination fee.
When I raised this concern with my local EJ rep - without swearing or raising my voice or being unruly - she said she was becoming emotional and hung up on me. When I asked EJ customer service, they said "You're free to move your money without penalty," while immediately reiterating the $95 fee was standard. You can call a penalty a fee, but that feels like intentional misrepresentation when my rep could have clarified there would be a termination fee. I was hoping I wouldn't have to leave this review, but it is clear the issue goes beyond my local rep and is part of the company playbook.
I'm very happy my time with Edward Jones is concluding, and I would advise anyone looking to invest to go elsewhere.
GIC INTEREST "MINE OR THEIRS"
We are still trying to TSF. Funds from ED.JONES OFFICE: This time it is Interest on GIC"S that matured on Aug.5th& 9th 2024 in an amount over $6300.00. To date the interest has been requested 2X by A Financial Planner @ RBC. The last Statement that was received about the Funds invested in this Account, was impossible to understand..The Amount TSF was less the Interest Due..What is this new Advisor DOING WITH OUR MONEY?? We should not have to go to this Office & Demand Funds that belong to US...The Reason for why we want to close the Accounts at ED Jones was explained to this New Financial Advisor, Both my Husband & l are at an advanced age of 94 & 90yrs. To make our Estate simpler for our Son when we are no longer here..The Request for The Investments Held @ this office has taken Months to complete...This is incomprehensible: The two people running this Office in Woodstock, Ontario Canada are very Incompetent ..STAY AWAY
Bullying
Bullying, made to feel inadequate from my advisor who I pay well when I raised concerns. I was basically fired from EDWARD JONES my account put on hold and although I continue to pay fees, there was no longer any service unless I want to sell something. If I wanted to sell, there would be no advice given.
UnBelievably, unprofessional, terrible service And when my concerns raised with a senior complaints official, they just supported the advisers and said I was wrong and that they couldn’t believe their advisors would behave that way
Be careful when you invest in Edward Jones
When I closed my company I had to get a new company to take over a retirement account. I was recommended to Edward Jones by the payroll company I used.
I spoke to the advisor at Edward Jones and agreed to deposit the account in their company with a one time fee of 4000.00 so I wouldn't pay a monthly fee.
Once the money was transfered, the advisor put me into front loaded accounts that cost me another 4-7000.00. When I looked at my first statement I noticed the missing funds and called the advisor. I was told to get into their special mutual account funds that this was standard, and he did not profit himself from this sort of a transaction.. At this point I wasn't trusting the advisor and asked one of my clients who is the president of a private bank. I told my friend what happened to me and he said what I was told was not true. I waited a few years until the
account about broke even and got out. I went to my bank, the advisor was free, he was careful to make sure I was aware of all fees. I'm lucky I got out with almost all of my principal investment and now I have a advisor who is truly concerned about my account.

Beware: Elder Abuse/Fraud
In trying to protect my mother’s money from any unscrupulousness, I actually delivered her into the lion’s den, the lion being an Edward Jones advisor located in Thornebrooke Village in Gainesville, FL. He flat out lied to her face about how she’d be choosing what level of investment risk she was interested in, that her money was completely safe with them. Well, here we go: He slipped in a document amongst her 30-something page contract. That document happened to be a TRUST giving Edward Jones complete control of her money. He also lied during an inquiry as to when it was he asked her for beneficiary information. The unscrupulousness doesn’t stop there, unfortunately. This “advisor” drew up documents in a different state - Missouri (!) - so that its rules would supersede Florida’s, the state she resided in. Of course, this wasn’t mentioned to my elderly mother and it, too, was slipped into the 30+ page, front and back, so we’re actually talking 60-ish. I’d be willing to bet the Missouri trick is nothing new and has been used before on ‘vulnerable’ people. She trusted this guy - he was solicitous of her, nice to her, seemed sure of himself, and it never entered her mind he’d do anything but what he said he’d do. But, he did. Absolute unscrupulousness, not to mention elder abuse. *I wish I could tell you the benefit to EJ or to one of their advisors about a contract in Missouri (are there other states they also use?). I only know that it was to supersede Florida law, and she was not told about it.
At first initial meeting
At first initial meeting, and with us explaining our intentions and desires, everything seemed very positive and they agreed to accept our money and us as clients After approximately 7 months, I received a phone msg. to give him a call at my convenience. I called and was asked "Where would you like me to transfer your money too"? WHAT ??? I was told that our "money would be better suited in an interest bearing checking account".."that most of his clients had that much money in their personal checking account"..."he wanted to keep his client base around XXX of larger dollar investors and was now going to concentrate on some sports figures"
Bottom line...he wasn't making ENOUGH money off of our money and our account was not worth his time
Lost, Misapplied, Misdirected, & Misappropriated Funds
Even though I still spoke to my current advisor regularly while he was out on sick leave, I was left to deal with an incompetent and apparently rookie advisor (John Grindstaff) in my advisors business absence for a few months who apparently transferred funds at his own will, sold some things at his own will, ended up closing and utilizing an account for my grandkids that was NEVER supposed to be touched, while lots of information was being withheld from me as well. The account for the grandkids was opened by my personal advisor incorrectly as well I find out today. I was NEVER EVER told that a traditional and basic savings account would or even could be used for stock transactions to begin with as my advisor was plainly aware of why this account was being opened my me and the one and only reason on why I opened it up to begin with and there should have been ZERO risk of loss on this account which was going to my grandkids when they each reached 18 years of age. Why would I jeopardize ANYTHING in this account and have ANY risk associated with this????? I retired from banking and I am not aware of ANY savings account even today that has an option to PAD that type of an account as I was told. What goes up can come down as well so its certainly NOT a true savings account with that thrown in it. My current advisor KNEW the sole entire reason for the account and risking ANY part of it was never mentioned, discussed, or supposed to be an option as that would have been a definite NO. This process of the rookie fill-in advisor selling stock somehow most certainly without my knowledge and approval WIPING OUT the grandkids savings account has been going on since 6/20/2024 and I most certainly thought by now the funds would have been put back in the account for my grandkids but nothing has to this date happened yet even though I knew absolutely nothing about John closing the account and conducting other transactions inside there as well. Who does that and what kind of business does transactions without discussing. consulting with, or making the client aware to begin with? That is very shady, very unprofessional, very amateurish, and brings back memories of the Bernie Maddoff style of investing. Be glad to discuss this with anybody as the size of the funds arent large that were misdirected and misappropriated and lost but it is most certainly the principle here for sure!
Worst advice
Worst advice, response and for that matter any other advice or answering questions period. No answer, on vacation, terrible knowledge, mind blowing. My wife and I were considering these folks , not a chance and I hope this is being read by the top executives of this business. This is all true and disappointing. Go elsewhere.
My advisor cost me at least 60k worst…
My advisor cost me at least 60k worst invest advice I’ve ever gotten . Just an fyi when buying and selling stocks they don’t act as a fiduciary plus their transaction fees are ridiculous. Save your self time and money go some where else!
We just had a horrible experience
We just had a horrible experience. We told our advisor that we wanted an amount invested in CD's which she said she could guarantee at 5%. Instead, she invested $38,000 more than we gave her permission to use. She put the investment into corporate bonds, which was not what we gave her permission to do. And finally, we asked for the CD terms to be split evenly at 2 years, 5years, and 10 years. Instead, the bonds were separated into 4 pieces: 5 year, 7 year, 15 year, and 20 years! At our ages we don't want to be tied into 15 and 20 year terms that we didn't want in the first place. We were never informed by the advisor either before or after she used our money for something so far off from what she said she would do. We didn't notice what she had done for several months in a report sent to us by EJ. Now she is out on maternity leave, and the office was supposed to let us know that we could change to what we wanted within 48 hours. It is now dragging out with no resolution. Feeling used and abused! :(
Bad experience and a lesson learned
My experience was bad at a very sad period in my life. As I lost my mother and this account at Edward Jones was inherited from her. The Financial Advisor was pushy and kept trying to convince to move all my retirement funds to Edward Jones. When I kept refusing to discuss my portfolio, her whole tone changed and she was now rude plus very unprofessional. I requested to close the account in writing which she decided not to acknowledge my request and I called customer service who directed me back to her office. She stated the account was closed and then she hung up on me. I dodged a bullet by not moving all my retirement funds to Edward Jones. I felt she took it personal but I guess she would if she was the only one making any real money from the investments? Steer clear of Edward Jones and find another way to invest your money. Kelli Brock and Linda Demarco are two very unprofessional individuals.
Door to door for investing? Seriously?
Their D2D guys knocked on my door, despite having a no trespassing sign in the yard and a no solicitation sign on the door. I do not feel comfortable doing business with a company that disregards these signs and knocks on your door at supper time. Any legitimate investment advisor doesn't need to go door to door to drum up business. Stay away from this company. Define red flags here.
A women needs a man to invest here
remember walking into an investment place (Edward Jones) and asking to buy shares of Amazon Dec 2000 for 78 cents. The finacial planner laughed at me and said that stock is going no where but bankrupt then told me to leave and go home and get my Dad or husband when I was ready to do some real investing. 24 yrs later what money I have in Edward Jones has not grown more then 2k. I left Edward Jones that day and went to the library and read every financial book I could find then went to chapters and bought every finance book I could. Then I started buying real estate, I live in Ontario so you can imagine what that is worth after 2020. Then I opened my own investors account. I retired at 35 from having to work and my TFSA alone the dividends can pay my bills. I still keep my Edward Jones account thou to compare what one women can accomplished compared to a whole company of men. I never did buy Amazon stock but I do collect royalities.
The financial advisor I had in Florida…
The financial advisor I had in Florida deserves a negative 10. He lost me $$$ from the sale of my home! I requested so many times to move my money & disregard my request to change my portfolio. Only cares about finding new customers! Totally incompetent.
They took our prize stock and sold it…
They took our prize stock and sold it for fees that we were not told about or how they were being paid. They stopped sending quarterly statements but if they had sent us one
+ we could have seen what they were doing we would have never let them deplete our investment in a good stock. I figured we have lost about $30,000 by them doing this. Needless to say we will never let them get near our investments ever again and if anyone asks I would never recommend them.
A Heartless Affair: My Struggle with Edward Jones in the Aftermath of Losske of profound personal…
In the wake of profound personal tragedy, I found myself grappling not only with the devastating loss of my beloved wife but also with a bureaucratic nightmare orchestrated by Edward Jones, a financial institution that seemed to embody callousness and indifference at every turn.
My journey with Edward Jones commenced with hopeful expectations, as my late wife had entrusted them with her financial affairs. However, as I endeavored to close her account and navigate the labyrinth of paperwork and procedures, I was met with an insurmountable wall of obstruction and heartlessness.
The first hurdle I encountered was their incomprehensible bureaucracy. Despite presenting all necessary documentation and adhering meticulously to their prescribed protocols, Edward Jones seemed intent on prolonging my agony. Endless phone calls led to dead ends, and each visit to their office left me feeling more disheartened and defeated.
But the most egregious aspect of my ordeal with Edward Jones was their blatant disregard for regulatory requirements and ethical responsibilities. Despite clear guidelines dictating the swift closure of deceased clients' accounts, Edward Jones exhibited a brazen disregard for these rules, subjecting me to unnecessary delays and anguish.
Their behavior was not only unconscionable but also bordered on the predatory. It became apparent that Edward Jones was more concerned with safeguarding their bottom line than providing compassionate support to grieving families. Their actions spoke volumes about their priorities, and it was abundantly clear that empathy was not among them.
In the end, after months of protracted battles and emotional turmoil, I finally succeeded in closing my late wife's account with Edward Jones. However, the scars left by this harrowing experience run deep, and the trust I once held in this institution has been irreparably shattered.
My advice to anyone considering entrusting their financial affairs to Edward Jones is simple: proceed with extreme caution. Behind their façade of professionalism lies a company devoid of compassion, integrity, and basic human decency. In times of vulnerability and loss, the last thing anyone needs is to contend with the heartlessness of institutions like Edward Jones.
They're are not good people...
They're are not good people , finally got my funds out after so many attempts. They well keep you away from your funds as much as possible. I think my funds are better where they were previously, Libbey Jane Bean on Google managed it better for me.
Beware they are very pervasive to…
Beware they are very pervasive to convince you to invest with them, I regretfully made that decsion, my 401k was rolled into a IRA that was invested in a bundle of funds that I'm sure paid them a commision, left to flounder as they collected their maintenance fee, a annual meeting trying to convince me the future looks great just wait, when i realized a made a mistake a fight to get my money back, i put my losses as a life experience, don't make that mistake
