On 9th July 2020, I cancelled my membership with your gym, at this time the website was down and a refurbishment was in place. Therefore, there were no email address or contact numbers. I contacted Energie Fitness Brooklands to cancel my membership - for VERY personal reasons. I had never entered the gym. I have attached screenshots from 9th July explaining my reasons for cancelling the membership. I recieved notification the same day that this had been processed.

In September 2024, I began receiving emails from a third-party debt collection agency, stating I owe in the region of £90 from July 2024. I'd like to point out that I am concerned about GDPR given this should've been deleted upon my cancellation request - which was within my cooling off period. I will seek legal advice and request support from the DPA if I need.

I have now been told that this is a final notice before I am at risk of CCJ, bailiff action or more. Given I have more than enough notice, I had a response to say this was being processed and reassured at the time of cancellation this is utterly disgraceful.

I have made several attempts to contact the branch, with no response. I have called and been hung up on, and I have messaged various times on the social media page. There are MANY of us in the same situation.

I am suffering from complex health conditions and I cannot face this added stress.

I would sincerely appreciate acknowledgment of my email, both from yourselves and the debt management company as I have still yet to receive any response from them with my challenge and proof of cancellation. Once again, this is impacting my mental health seriously.

I would also like to request which governing ombudsman body I can complain to should this not be resolved.

I left the gym in 2022 and I'm now being threatened with debt enforcement action if I don't pay a fee of £86.99! I left the gym and spoke to those in charge at the time and all was fine so I'm baffled on why I'm having these threats now. I responded to dispute around a month or so again, heard nothing back and have just received another one forcing me to settle the issue 'amicably' by paying £21.99 before Friday- which is a joke as I have nothing suggesting I owe them! But every attempt to resolve I've had nothing back?

Gym is great, Very good environment. The staff is very good and welcoming. The one who stands out the most is Matei who was first a gym goer who helped me with exercise and then became a staff member. thanks a lot ef!

I cancelled my gym membership 3 ish years ago in the most procedural way possible and received a letter demanding outstanding payment. It’s not even possible to get in touch with someone from the gym either. Disgraceful and embarrassing frankly.
I would encourage you to not give them any of your data or use the gym lest they send you a letter of the same kind years later.

Do not join! Milton Keynes Brooklands branch has recently passed their database to a dept collection agency, which is threatening past members and none-member with legal action.
I received one although I have never been an active member off the gym. Enquired in early 2020 about joining but the gym was still u der construction. Was enrolled as a member at the time but assured that no monies were due until the gym opens. Before the gym opened I cancelled. Never had an invoice, no previous correspondence until this ‘final notice’ 4 years later.
I am not the only one. Social Media groups a flooded with comments! This incredibly bad business, possibly fraudulent. I will be exploring possible complaint to the Financial ombudsman, ICO and other regulatory organisations.

Edit post reply from Energie Fitness: thank you for your reply - this is the first update I have had in three weeks from anyone. But I am afraid, this is not very reassuring. Simply to say I shouldn’t expect further communication does not revoke the final dept collection notice that was issued. This was an official and legally binding notice. It will need to be officially revoked by the dept collection agency. They have a duty to respond to challenges to a notice within 14 days. In my case they are now in breach of that period. I’ve heard nothing since I provided my evidence to them that I most certainly do not owe any money. I won’t have an unrevoked dept collection notice hanging over my head. I have emailed the collection agency again to the same effect.

WHAT THE HELL IS GOING ON!!
Was a member in 2022 for 9 months before moving back to Cardiff.
Send a membership cancellation email, received a reply and the payments automatically stopped, happy days.
Then this week I receive a collection notice and court threat that I owe almost £400. For what??? The collection company out large admin fees for what?? I don’t have a membership.
I spoke to a nice lad Jack (I think) who said he had received hundreds of complaints and the best thing to do was email the collection company. WHY WOULD I DO THAT?? It’s their administrative issue.
Have read reviews saying it could be fraud and a scam, it could be yes but not sure.
Contact your local council, MP and getting legal advice!

Was a member of this gym 3 and a half years ago. Left when I was relocating for work. Gave appropriate notice, no outstanding balance. Yesterday...a whole 3.5 years later received a threatening letter [final notice] from a debt collection agency. In three and a half years have heard nothing from them as my account was closed in good standing.

It turns out customer data was passed to a 3rd party who sent these letters to anyone who not only attended gym but submitted an enquiry and had never stepped foot in th3 gym. There has been no statement online and no effort to rectify, other than telling people to dispute the issue with this 3rd party agency. Local social media groups were flooded with people having received this letter who had absolutely no previous history of joining this gym. So unprofessional

Was a member for two years left in April 2024. Today 24th September I received a court proceedings threat due to a none payment. I cancelled the membership and left in April! After speaking to the new owners it’s clear they are searching their old members list and trying to “cash in” by sending out groundless threats! AVOID.

People filming themselves or each other in the gym selfishly putting other people in the shot who don't want to be plastered over the internet while they're working out.
You need to enforce no filming or make these people do so in one of the empty rooms if they're incapable of just training.

I've just started at this gym, but it's been a great experience so far. The facility is clean, and all the equipment is in good working condition. Plus, there's always staff available to assist if needed. Overall, I'm very satisfied up to this point.

I've been going to the gym for 2 years. It used to be a very well-kept and clean place. Now there are often no wet wipes to clean equipment, there is no liquid hand soap in the bathroom, there is no alcohol gel for hands, the bathroom is often dirty. Many classes are canceled and there is always a different person on staff. Before the staff used to be smiling and helpful, now they seems like no one cares about the members anymore. I'm sad to see the direction it's going and how it seems like the gym isn't being taken care of.

This gym is terrible. The customer service is non-existent, and the manager is arrogant and unhelpful. I cancelled my membership, but they continued to charge me. When I spoke to them, the staff assured me I would receive a refund in five days. I waited, but after two weeks, there was still no refund, and they began ignoring my emails. When I called, they kept saying they would issue the refund. In the end, I had to contact my bank to get my money back. This place is a scam.

I love this gym, and the environment and the people. Always great energy ⚡ and happy faces ☺. Love to be part of this community.
