Ethical consumer magazine's workers reply quickly to any queries, the magazine is well researched and the readers are invited to give their opinions.

Great place to go to help make informed ethical shopping decisions. Ethicalconsumer.org staff and writers reply quickly to emails. However there are issues with the website itself. I always find myself logged out upon returning to the site, which is just annoying. And the card payment system they use always rejects my MasterCard. The site layout, colour scheme and overall graphical design isn’t that nice either. Just seems that they could do with a bit more money spent on their site with a good front and backend web developer team.

My most recent experience was searching for the ethical ratings of insurance companies. On the website, it is possible to gather a great amount of information about a company, but also to "drill down" to deeper levels and get history, context and examples of past behaviour, also the company's attitudes to compliance with ethics standards. I felt I was better informed at the end, and went away with a couple of suggestions. For this category, there aren't any extreme stand-out examples where it's entirely unambiguous who's "best". This is often a problem. However I appreciate having this vast mine of information at my fingertips and always come away feeling better educated on my chosen subject.

We would not be without Ethical Consumer as we need its up-to-date information as consumers.

Reliable, interesting and sometimes surprising information which would be difficult to find elsewhere. There is stuff here that everyone should know.

Useful unbiased reviews if services and products. Sources of information always transparent. Easy to interpret reports to draw your own conclusions. With online version can adjust weight given to different ethical factors when arriving at rankings.

I feel it's unbiased and gives extremely useful information although it can make quite uncomfortable reading at times. I feel I am informed on many issues I would be ignorant of without their input.

The points system by its very nature is not perfect but it is about as good as you can get with a lot of thought and experience in effect.
