Applied for GCU ages ago
Applied for GCU ages ago. I got a conditional offer and uploaded everything they wanted, 1 week till course starts and I have not had a response from them. E-Mails are ignored and call waiting times are well over an hour and you will be told nothing, prob best to have GCU as your last option as they don't respond to applicants.

I studied a Masters degree in risk with this university. Most of the material was powerpoint presentations that had a lot of typos in them and looked like they were put together in a hurry. Very basic stuff a schoolkid could do.The issue was that bad that I wasted a lot of time trying to understand a formula and thought there was an issue with the settings on my calculator but when I watched some Youtube tutorials it became evident that the tutor had messed the formula up on the powerpoint presentation (a typo).
I was half-expecting a text book to be sent to me when I enrolled but there is no text-book. They supply you with a list of recommended books, many of which are old and not as relevant as one might hope (you have to buy your owns books which I did not mind so much but it leaves me wondering what is this £6,000 fee going towards?).
Moreover, I completed my course and was informed that I passed the Master's Degree. I still do not have a certificate because after paying around £6,000 to do the course they wanted to charge me an extra £50 for a certificate which I think is discussing. I have refused to pay for the certificate and they have refused to send me a certificate unless I pay up. So it looks like I will have to make do with the transcript they emailed me for proof of award. The other issue you will have is they contact you through 'donotreply' email addresses so you will find yourself browsing their website for contact information because no one will read any reply you send to emails you receive.
I paid £6,000 for the course but think £2,000 would have been a fair price for what they offered. They are miles behind the open university but still want to charge the same price to study with them.

I had the best time whilst studying at Glasgow university. Thank you for making me the woman I am today.
recruitment poor
I received a pretty poor response from the recruitment office after applying for a job at the University. It took me hours to fill out the application and I have a lot of qualifications. I think the tactlessness of the email they sent informing me that I wouldn't be invited to interview, coupled with the large number of staff vacancies there are from this employer (the job I applied for is still advertised!) is, in hindsight, an indication that I am probably better off not working for them. If they can't convey a sense that they value you as a person at the application stage, then I'm guessing I wouldn't feel like a valued employee if I did get the job. What an awful waste of my time.
