The shoes are good, their delivery partner and customer service is terrible. I bought some shoes, Evri their delivery partner, held my shoes for a couple of days, didn't attempt to deliver and then just returned the shoes to Giesswein. When I attempted to contact Giesswein by email, chat and phone, they didn't bother to respond. Shame as this would have been my second pair of shoes and the shoes are good.
Avoid these people like the plague. It is next to impossible to make a return and quite impossible to get any customer service. When the return is made, and apparently lost in transit, not difficult since you’re returning them to Austria, They require the buyer to bear the loss. Eventually, you give up.
I ordered gents Vision Walk slippers from Giesswein, for the second time. They had gone up in price £76 in Oct 2024 vs £72 in July 2023. It is, however, still a very good product, if pricey for us. (We had had some problems with other cheaper brands.) They are comfortable, but most importantly, are a good fit, and so less likely to cause falls in the elderly, we have found. This time, I ordered EU size 45 for U.K. size 10. When I ordered in 2023, I indicated U.K. size 10, but they sent the wrong EU size. It was easy enough to return and replace them, though, with the system Giesswein have in place. Currently, new customers get a discount, which didn’t apply to me, obviously. The main downside is that they use Evri to deliver. That is the reason they have a 4 star, rather than 5 from me. As usual, Evri were not ideal, giving no information whatsoever, and me relying on a neighbour who found the parcel, but I will review Evri (yet again) separately. They did, however, arrive within the 5 working days that Giesswein indicated.
The worst custumer experience I've ever had. My package has been stuck since two weeks due to some missing address details. The customer service is unable to solve this, I had to contact the courier myself gave Giesswein the solution and got a reply in French!!!!! What a absolute joke!!
Absolutely terrible customer experience. I placed my order 8 days ago on 3-5 business days shipping. The next day I was told that it shipped and was given a reference to track. The link for this didn't work but I managed to put it in manually to the Evri website. 7 days after apparently shipping, Evri still do not have it. I've emailed and it took them days to reply, just to tell me I had to wait a week. It was already a week that I had been waiting. I've tried the chat but they don't answer. I've emailed again but they don't reply. The only other choice is to call them but it's not a UK number.
I ordered a pair of merino wool sneakers in July, and they duly arrived a week or so later.
They looked nice and were comfortable from the start- great, I thought, I've found my new brand for casual footwear.
Fast forward less than two months and the top of the sneakers appears to have worn through, so any sock that is not black can clearly be seen through the holes in the material.
Thinking surely this is a fault- I wear formal shoes for work, and often slippers in the house, so it's not like I'd worn them a great deal- weekends mainly.
Around two weeks ago I sent an email to the address shown on their website and guess what, no reply. Email definitely sent and to the correct address.
I guess they just hope I'll go away? ...well in one way they're right really, I have, never to make another purchase.
Such a shame they are either faulty or just poorly made. Worse still is the total lack of customer service.
Not impressed!
** UPDATE 26/09/24. Still no response, they just don't care and won't respond or honour their warranty. AVOID! **
** UPDATE 13/10/24. After leaving a similar review on Giesswein's website, I at last received a response asking me to return the shoes for a refund. Wow! ...all was good from there, downloaded the Hermes label, packed and sent the shoes and received a refund within a week.
I wish I could comment about the product itslef but after several weeks I am still waiting for delivery. I am getting daily messages from the courier company to say they will deliver the next day but nothing ever happens. Giesswein may have a good product (but I cannot vouch for that) but their decision to use a worst rated courier service (to cut costs no doubt) is symptomatic of poor management.
Will never buy from this company again. Delivery was later than expected date - plus on expected day of delivery they never arrived. Courier notified that they were being returned to the sender - why? baffling!! Called customer service only to be to told to send an email. Email response from customer service informed us that they would not be delivered and we would have to make another order - and of course wait for a refund. Just simply rubbish.
I love their products, they are excellent quality and so durable. I have bought them for me, my husband and children! Excellent customer service as well. I really value this company.
Ordered a pair of Veitsch slippers with a Wool upper and rubber outdoor sole....and the benefit of a supportive orthotic insole. Perfect. Arrived promptly and was kept updated throughout the process.

No Care No Responsibility
How is this for service? I ordered shoes online from Giesswein based on their advertising themselves as an ethical company. The shoes were to be delivered by Evri. I did not receive any information from Evri about when the parcel was to be delivered. I returned home on Saturday to find that my parcel had been left on the doorstep( I did not authorise this). The contents had been stolen. Moreover, there were two other sets of packaging from other addresses with contents removed. Clearly some one was following the courier. I contacted Evri and asked why no delivery time had been sent to me and why leave parcels on doorsteps unattended. Their response, if goods are stolen take it up with Giesswein. I wrote to Giesswein. Giesswein's response take it up with the courier company. Net result Giesswein got paid, courier company got paid and I got nothing. Really poor customer service from Giesswein.
Truly appalling customer service. Shoes did not fit despite great care in sizing. Then it got worse. Dropped off to Hermes/Evri box weeks ago. Heard nothing since. Either they did not deliver it or the reception centre has lost the return. Now the company refuses to repay because it says without a paper receipt no evidence of having returned it. We had the return number etc. sure we lost the receipt but for heavens sake - they have lost the return parcel!
Another example of the company’s lack of concern to investigate a failed delivery
They use EVRI, who are the worst courier ever for delivering on time and during the working day
I have emailed 3 times and only got an initial reply email claiming they would investigate and advise me
I’m still waiting
Better products and support from Allbirds
I have become a Giesswein fanatic. I have ordered:
1. Merino Wool Runners - excellent fit and comfort
2. Curve - slightly stiffer sole which I think will be better on European cobbles.
3. Wool Knit - love my yellow color. Same last as the Runners.
4. Slippers - my "outdoor" slippers for the patio.
All my experiences with customer service have been great.
As someone with an "Elastoplast" / colophony / rosin contact allergy, causing eczema or allergic contact dermatitis, I have to avoid ALL skin contact with: elastane, spandex, lycra, polyurethane (PU), thermopolyurethane (TPU), and screen printing and printed labels. Colophony is often also found in shoe glues, so I need to be extremely, extremely selective about which brands and models I wear accordingly, as almost all shoe companies make shoes with glues full of colophony. Elastoplast / colophony / rosin / allergy affects about 2% of the population (according to medical journal estimates).
I can outstandingly recommend Giesswein as being by far the safest, and least toxic shoe company I've found in this regard. They've been extremely receptive to customer feedback on the needs of people like me with this allergy, and have been incredible in continuous product development to create solutions to not only allergy needs but also practical needs of ours from shoes on the market in the first place. I now buy almost all my shoes from Giesswein, never having discovered the company before my allergies started 4-5 years ago.
I highly recommend in particular their Wool Loafers for both men and women. This particular model of shoe is an outstanding leader in the shoe industry, in totally removing contact with colophony from their shoes, as well as designing a business, dress and casual shoe suitable for both men and women for all occasions. Their womens' ballet flats are great and colophony-free also, should you be ok with recycled PET shoes. I also have quite a number of their wool trainers / sneakers and am quite happy with them also.
I have 3 pair Giesswein trainers and love them BUT recently ordered another pair which I didn’t like and they didn’t fit well,I have tried returning them several times and emailed company explaining the difficulties I am experience and asking for advice but all I get is the same email which is of no help at all so am sitting with a >£100 mistake I can’t return,I am sad and frustrated and can’t bring myself to use this company again,I hope someone reads this and reaches out to help
I ordered a pair of slippers which were too small. Sent those back and reordered a larger pair which arrived and are great. The refund for the 1st pair took just over 3 weeks. Firstly their free returns didn’t work so I paid for recorded delivery which was the right thing to do as to this day they say they haven’t had them when Royal Mail has a signed delivery confirmation. Today I received a full refund but the whole refund process with Giesswein is poor and it takes far too long compared to most.

Update on 25 April 2023: Full refund has now arrived. Product quality and customer service have plenty of room for improvement.
In March, I ordered two different models of Giesswein shoes for € 140.- each. Delivery was prompt, but both pairs of shoes were of equally mediocre quality, poorly manufactured and, although both were the same size, one pair was far too large, and the other much too short.
I returned both pairs of shoes immediately, but got a refund only for one. I received a flippant response to my first e-mail enquiry about the missing refund, suggesting the refund had been made in two parts and that I should look at my credits more carefully. Only, the second part of the refund never settled on my account. My next two follow-up mails have gone unanswered.
My advice to interested buyers — there are better shoes out there, sold by people who actually care.
