Grays of Westminster, the multi-award-winning Nikon-only shop, was founded forty years ago by Gray Levett with the idea of creating a world-class camera store, offering a service that was second to none. It is superbly located in a quiet area of central London, a few minutes walk from Victoria Railway Station; the Houses of Parliament, Buckingham Palace, the Tate Britain, River Thames and Knightsbridge are all within easy reach. Grays of Westminster is not simply a famous Nikon camera shop; it is to many photographers around the world an institution. It can trace back its beginnings from a modest mail order company to its present, highly-respected position in the photographic industry. Grays of Westminster, became the first camera shop in the world to be granted a Coat of Arms. Mr. Robert Noel, Norroy and Ulster King of Arms of Her Majesty's College of Arms, presented the Coat of Arms to Grays of Westminster 29th October 2014.

Bought a Nikon Zfc from Grays. I’m a beginner photographer and don’t have a clue about all the settings and lenses and they were very helpful and patient with my stupid questions! Will buy from grays again!

Gray’s staff are expert, friendly and nothing is too much trouble. I have bought and part exchanged equipment over more than 29 years at Grays. There is a fantastic used section in their basement; it is a museum of Nikon cameras.

Most helpful.I have dealt with Greys a few times, not only did I find them most helpful when i needed information on a product. On articles no longer in production they were able to point me.

Having recent expenditure on my house I was looking for an inexpensive way of purchasing a Nikon Zfc with Kit lenses. The Paypal scheme with 3 interest free payments sounded ideal and so I looked for a 'main dealer' who had it in stock. Grays of Westminster were advertising so I launched Paypal and made the purchase.
I then received a message from Grays saying they were out of stock and would service my order when their stock was renewed. Infuriated I sent a message of complaint to them pointing out that their advert did not state they were out if stock and I could have gone elsewhere for quicker service.
Grays response was to cancel the order and return the initial deposit to Paypal without any reference to me - or warning. I rang their office and spoke to a charming young man called Daniel who asked his Manager why and was informed they had misinterpreted my message and returned the money so I could go elsewhere.
Paypal confirmed this was so but retained my initial deposit of some £400 plus on their account. I then found LCE had the camera in stock so applied there and the deal went through with Paypal using my £400 plus deposit and taking the balance out of my current account! Thank you Grays!
I sent a further message to Grays outlining all this but have received no response and that was two weeks ago. I note looking through the reviews there have been similar complaints about their 'superior attitude', I suppose it's my fault for living in the Provinces?
Great service and equipment, prices low for part exchange but very high retail. High overheads I expect but very professional service. Secondhand same as other cameras shops but pricier, expect a low price if selling.
I've bought Nikon gear from Grays for over thirty years. Exemplary service and great to deal with. I hope that s[ecialist retailers like Grays will continue to serve professionals and enthusiasts alike for many years to come.

I ordered two items and was kept updated via email regarding every stage of my order. Arrived next day to Northern Ireland. Excellent service.

I placed an order on Dec. 17 for one of their books about Gray's. Unfortunately, a strike by Royal Mail employees and a ransomware hack of Royal Mail caused a massive delay in Mail service both locally and internationally. However, through it all I was kept informed and treated most courteously by their sales manager, Mr Rosales. When the first order became untrackable, a second order was shipped. I only received one of the orders on Feb. 1. The fact that I was made to feel like I was being kept in the loop and my order was appreciated meant a lot. Oh, and my book was autographed by Gray Levitt ( co-owner), Gillian , his wife and the author of the book, and Becky and Kon, the two technical mgrs. who host their YouTube and live stream vlogs. Thank you all.

I've spent thousands with Grays. However I have had bad experiences. Two previous ones. Recently I had my third which is the last straw. This shop portrays itself as the premier Nikon dealer above all others. And they charge prices to justify that. But in reality they're no better than other camera dealers. I'll never spend money there again and my recommendation is that you go elsewhere unless you really need a gold plated range finder.
If you are looking for something photography related then I suggest you give Grays of Westminster a call.
I was looking for a Nikon P1000 camera. None available anywhere in the UK (inc Nikon).. but Grays had one in stock! ( just one)
They also had some (genuine Nikon) batteries to suit. Again nobody else had any.
A few days ago, I accidentally broke the lens hood for my new camera. I shopped around and as usual.. you couldn’t get any for a long time!! Nikon themselves didn’t have any of course.
I phoned Grays of Westminster as I couldn’t see the lens hood listed on their website. They had one in stock! I ordered it and it had just arrived. Well packaged and is spot on!
Thank you!! 😀

Grays is like the service you think you remember from years gone by, that never really existed.
Passionate, knowledgeable, honest, staff in an amazing setting who seem far more interested in the products and serving the customer than any kind of hard sell. They always respond promptly and helpfully to queries. Could not recommend more highly.

Recently ordered a Nikon lens to be sent to a village near Paisley Scotland. At checkout there was a £7.25 postal charge when it should have been sent out free. Emailed Grays tone told “the courier has difficulty in accessing this area”. Cancelled order. Further email offered free postage and £20 discount if I proceeded with order!! What a way to operate a so called exclusively Nikon dealership. Bought from competitor at same price free delivery no hassle.
Always had impeccable service from this pure Nikon dealership, polite, informative and professional.
An air of, "The Kingsmen" shop in the film or from a James Bond movie.
Have found their products competitive on price with unexpected kind discount on some orders, as found on a recent purchase.
"A man who knows the price of everything and the value of nothing"?
Highly recommend this dealership that is well worth a visit or to order online.

I chose Grays of Westminster when I decided to buy a used Nikon F3, based on the image they promote of themselves as being a dependable retailer. Not only did the camera have a mechanical fault that was not described on their website, but they have not replied to an email I sent to them pointing out the problem.
Update: Got a reply today, albeit late, and agreed an exchange. Still disappointed about receiving a faulty camera (since discovered a second fault) that wasn’t as described but, hopefully, will reach an amicable resolution.
What a lovely company to deal with.
Purchased a used Nikon D4s and the camera was well graded and exactly as expected, it also arrived the very next day. We had a small issue with the camera being supplied with the wrong strap and the correct strap was received the following morning by First Class post. I dealt with Emilija throughout and she was polite, friendly and professional.
Competitive pricing, great service and a 1-year warranty. I wouldn't hesitate to buy from Grays of Westminter again.

About 20 years ago I bought a used 600mm f5.6 AIS lens from them, it was immaculate. More recently I’ve bought new accesories and a new 60mm F2.8 micro lens. On several occasions I’ve struggled to find an item only to discover that Grays stock the item, and the price is reasonable. I am sure they have the biggest range of Nikon items in stock in the UK. Do visit the shop if you get the chance, it’s unique!

I’m impressed. I ordered a Nikon charger for some VERY OLD batteries (10 years old at least). They were the only place I could find that had it in stock, and had it delivered quickly.

After a very poor experience with another Nikon retailer I contacted Grays of Westminster who answered my questions very promptly, gave me a competitive quote for a new camera and three lenses and delivered the goods a full day earlier than I expected - superb customer service, would give them ten stars if I could!
Will definitely be buying from them again.

I ordered an 85mm prime lens on 22 December and it arrived on 23 December. Cheapest UK price by a country mile, superbly and thoughtfully packaged, sincere and swift customer attention and that extra thrill of dealing with such a genuine, old-fashioned firm.
