Our holiday included 4 nights at the hotel with breakfast, air fares, transfers and 2 excursions. All travel went smoothly. The hotel, an older building, was clean and comfortable. All staff were helpful and friendly. We had a problem with the TV, which couldn't be fixed, so they gave us a different room with a view of the Eyjafjord. The breakfast was substantial and catered for all preferences. We were picked up on time for our first evening excursion, and our knowledgeable guide was excellent. We were fortunate to see an amazing display of the Northern Lights. Akureyri, N.E Iceland is a relatively small town, and you can walk to the town centre with its tourist shops, cafes and most places of interest. Also, the buses are free.
Being winter, there were no tourist information shops open, but you can get a map and brochures from the Whale Watching Booking office near the Hof Cultural Centre. The Classic Whale Watching tour leaves from there at 1 pm, all year. The crew gave a running commentary of where to look, and we were fortunate to see 3 humpbacks diving and feeding about 1.5 hours from Akureyri. This tour was not part of our holiday package. The tour we had vouchers for was the Forest Lagoon thermal pools, but we weren't particularly keen and chose not to go. The pickup place in town wasn't clear, as our voucher mentioned 2 different places and times for the free shuttle.
Overall, this winter trip would suit people who are prepared to find their own way around and like to seek out new experiences. Be prepared for cloudy days and a cold wind, with temperatures about minus 4 to minus 10. We were lucky that most days had some sun and clear evening skies. Customer service in all places was excellent, friendly and helpful. We had an amazing time and would certainly go again.

Nice weekend in Gibraltar, the Sunborne Yacht is gorgeous. Two days was enough to see everything that Gib has to offer. Very good value.

The restaurant on the top deck was closed. The sun deck was closed. The balcony in our room was not large enough for a chair. There was no comfort television lounge.

On the face of it this was a good trip put together by Great Value Holidays to Gibraltar. Unfortunately the 5 Star Sunborn Yacht, permanently moored at Ocean View, Gibraltar was not fully functioning. The whole of deck 7 where the pool and sun deck are located along with the main restaurant were closed due to maintainace, and will continue to be closed until the end of March. This is a scheduled maintenance and guests should be told this when booking.

All information was correct and complete. Travel arrangements and hotel were as advertised. The hotel was in a very good location and was very comfortable apart from the room itself which was rather small with inadequate lighting.

We needed a break and set off with just the satisfaction of not going to work. After a rather early start we loved every minute. The hotel was excellent and the breakfast spot on. Very happy and will definitely book again.

Loved our time in Akureyri and happy that everything went smoothly. The hotel was very up to date (although that may have been because we were in the annexe) and very clean. Breakfast had plenty of variety. I would have liked to have more information about the activities and others that were available, at an earlier date. Did not get to the forrest lagoon as the only shuttle bus was in the evening, when we preferred to go out for a meal.

We had a great time on our trip to akureyri in northern Iceland. The package was well organised by Great Value Holidays, who kept us well informed beforehand, sending useful reminders. We stayed at Hotel Akureyri, a relaxed, comfortable hotel with charming staff, stylish rooms (if a bit short of storage) and excellent breakfasts.
The included northern lights safari was fun, even if we didn't get a great show(wrap up warm).
Akureyri itself is a charming town with some quaint old buildings, lively and cosy cafes and some excellent (though expensive) restaurants. And of course it's on the banks of the magnificent Eyjafjiord.
Other must-does in Akureyri: a whale watching boat trip - even in winter we saw humpback and orcas; and a visit to the Forest Lagoon to enjoy a soak in the thermal pools.

A fabulous hotel. Fantastic breakfast. Very good communication about a flight delay that was out of the control of the company. Great flight times. A superb guide for the Northern Lights tour. Very smooth transfers. A lovely, lovely long weekend. Thank you.

Amazing hotel/super yatch, the weather was atrocious and we arrived 5 hours late after having to divert to Malaga.
Our return journey was even worse and took an extra 12 hours due to the communication tower having no power!
