Booked a two-tyre fit online at Halfords Autocentre Bognor Regis for a 09:00 slot and paid up front. The booking emails said to expect around an hour. I arrived before 08:40, but the car wasn't take... See more

I dropped my car off at Halfords Autocentre Liverpool Aintree on Saturday at 8:15 AM for an MOT and full service. However, at 4:45 PM, I was informed that they had no engine oil and could not release my car until Monday morning because it was too dangerous to drive. I find this incredibly unprofessional; they had my car for over 8 hours before realising they lacked the necessary oil, and I needed my vehicle for work on Monday morning. To make matters worse, they sent me an email at 5:02 PM stating the work had been completed and that I could collect the car. This makes it seem like they are trying to cover their tracks. I strongly recommend you do not use them.
absolute joke
When I comes to a MOT service
Booked well in advance for my vehicle mot and now 6 days before my mot I received a email saying they have cancelled my mot appointment due to garage equipment failure of which I am skeptical about as this seams to be the norm for excuses
As last year they done exactly the same thing with my mot
I think it's more of a case we have over booked customers and we don't know what we are doing as usual and a total shambles
So this is the last time I will be booking any of my vehicles in for any kind of work
With this company who have totally gone down hill with its service to customers
And certainly not a company you can rely on and would not recommend them if you are looking for a reliable competent company
From a very dissatisfied customer
I have been buying tyres from what was National Tyres in Ashton-u- Lyne for many years, not anymore now it belongs to Halfords. Appalling customer service.
I had my care sir con regas in May last year my year followed by a full service, MOT and repairs in October. First, the brak fluid gasket was left open, brake lights went in less than a day. Cooling fluid was non existent and the cooling fan was working overload. On top of that I had to get my AC regas again in a year. The customer service was dismissive of problems with mobile regas unit which I was told about by their own garage. They simply phased it out! Very disappointed.
I have been using Halfords Stirling now for over 6 years and I am real happy with the service I get there the staff are friendly and very help full the manager Kieran is very helpful and profession in his position. I highly recommend Halfords Stirling for this.
Ordered a tyre through Tyre Shopper. Arrived for allotted appointment at Halfords to be told the tyre had not arrived. Next appointment tyre was fitted. Only after some time did I discovered that the tyre fitted was not the one I ordered, was a different weight rating, & about £30 cheaper! Response from Halfords - You've had the tyre for some time so no "return, replacement or refund.'!
My car was book in for a service and MOT which it failed due to a light not tracking. This was a light that Halfords had worked on 12 months ago on a previous MOT. They then ordered a part and the car was booked in for a weeks time for 2 tyres and a light. First they told me the tyres cant be done as they need 48 hours notice but the booking was a week ago then they did no work as the part hadn't arrived but failed to tell me.
I had to call and chase for updates and get them to confirm they would do the work under warranty which they did but meant I had to take another day off work.
In addition to all of this they added a minor oil leak to my MOT as an advisory but on speaking to another mechanic they can only put down a major leak as they have to remove part of the flooring to diagnosis it. They also put on my health check the coolant level was low.
The new mechanic also thinks that there is no oil leak and someone has rubbed oil around the gear selector to make it appear like a leak or has over filled the gear box with oil. Also the coolant levels were fine
Lastly and the best part is he applied to Halfords for a job and was turned down as he is a trained mechanic. He knows 3 other mechanics who have the same story.
In short Halfords staff seem under qualified to carry out any repairs, are possibly listing items that are inaccurate to fabricate further works (coolant and oil leak)
They are salespeople and not mechanics so I would avoid them
I’ve used the Bolton Autocentre several times before and always found the staff to be helpful. I booked my car in for four wheel alignment as recommended after having the tyres replaced elsewhere. As per my previous visits the booking process was very easy and the staff were very polite and helpful. Unfortunately they struggled to find the correct alignment settings for the the car as it is imported. This was partly my fault as I failed to mention the car was an import when booking. It did led to a delay in the work being completed which wasn’t the end of the world; it took maybe three hours instead of one hour as specified online when booking. Once they had finished they were unfortunately only able to correctly adjust three of the four wheels. In fact the left rear camber is still outside specification. It is actually now more negative / worse than it was before I took the car there. This means I’ll have to take the car elsewhere and pay again to have the work completed which is obviously disappointing. If they weren’t able to complete the work I would have preferred them to say so; I could have saved the money and taken it elsewhere, now the issue is actually worse than it was originally. Two stars as the staff in the reception/ waiting area were very friendly and helpful.
I had brakes done at the Chiswick branch. The biggest mistake I have made. Since day one I had problems. Loose water shields, then vibrations. They said no fault found. I went back 3 times. They did improve it but not totally. Still vibrating when braking only. They also said i don’t use the brakes enough then said rust, then said it was that’s the way VW cars are. Total RUBBISH. I’d say faulty parts. I’ll never use them again. June 2026 going into VW to be sorted.
Went to the Aintree to get a rear reverse light fitted, the young lad who served me was excellent, brilliant customer service, knew his stuff. Great experience.
If I could rate -1 star I would. My experience relates to High Wycombe autocentre Desborough Road! I booked my car for an MOT on the basis of Halfords' reputable name. I will never take my car to this centre again and never recommend it. Gavin at the front desk was the most rudest person I have come across in many years - he as abrupt, dismissive and rude - in person and over the phone when I tried to rebook my car. He needs customer service training!!
My car needed some work from its last MOT, so I booked it in for those repairs. However, once work was started it brought to light other things that required attention. I was kept informed of all that was needed throughout the day of the work being done. At one point, it looked likely that the car wouldn't be ready for close of play. However, the particular part that looked likely to only be available the next day was delivered in time for the mechanic to be able for do same day. As I really needed my car for work the next morning, it was greatly appreciated.
Would like to mention individual names as they were so helpful and informative. Tom and Ben in the office and the technician was Tim.
All of whom are a credit to your company. Fantastic service all round and really appriciated. Brilliant! Preston riversway !!!
Went into Redditch Halfords to get new reg plates fitted. Josh and Nigel made the whole experience an absolute pleasure. Josh was helpful and friendly and even helped me fix my glasses when the screw popped out! Excellent customer service and both clearly loved providing the best of customer care.
Worst experience from Halfords fort William garage, Scotland. There is a grumpy guy with rude attitude who attends the calls and he is even not interested to help us. Never ever go there. I will never give them any business and won't let anyone known to me go there.
Big mistake, I took my car for a brake check as the pedal was soft. Appt at 0830 but told I had to leave the car. I called at 1230 to be told not started the job yet. Got a call at 1530 to say car ready and they had done nothing. They did not even look at the brakes as the wheel covers had ties on the and they were still in place. I would not trust the manager who is just not interested in his customers and as it was a free brake check I was expecting at least some documentation on the state of the brakes such as discs and pads etc. Avoid this branch in Blackpool. The mechanics did not even do anything as I guess as it was a FREEbrake check and they would not earn their bonus. Please avoid this garage as they just don’t care at all. When I suggested could the brakes need bleeding and they said they were not able to do this in case they break something. That just tells you the quality of the staff here.
I booked my car in for MOT and warranty work, only to receive a phone call telling me they would not carry out the MOT unless I first paid for a service. Feeling I had no choice, I agreed and paid for an interim service.
After the MOT, I was contacted and told that the car had failed and that the work required would cost just under £900. During the call, it was implied that all of the advisories listed were failures, which was misleading and caused unnecessary concern.
To make matters worse, I was then told that my car had no coolant whatsoever. This was surprising given that I had literally just paid for an interim service. When I asked whether coolant top-ups were included, I was told they were not because it was only an interim service. After checking the company’s own website, I found that coolant top-ups are in fact included as part of their interim service. I called back and pointed this out, at which point they agreed to top it up.
Overall, the experience felt misleading from start to finish. Being pressured into paying for a service before an MOT, being given confusing information about the MOT results, and then having to challenge staff on what was included in the service I had already paid for left me with very little confidence in the dealership. Unfortunately, I would not recommend them based on my experience
Halfords Autocentre in Llanelli
I have been going to these for a while now and I cannot rate there service enough if there had been 6 stars I would have given that .
A big massive thankyou for their help and support to Anthony, Rhrodi and team I will not go anywhere else
I would never use Halford's MOT Garage in King's Lynn again. My warranty company, Motor Easy, booked and paid for my car to be MOT’d at Halford’s on the 29th May 26. The service desk was very slow because the two service staff were on the phone with customers and did not prioritise customers waiting to book their cars in. This was the case every time I visited this Company. My car failed its MOT due to a warning light on the dashboard. They refused to give me my failure notice and advised me not to drive the car. They stated they could not repair my car or explain how to get my car home. They could not recommend how I could get my car repaired so it could pass its MOT. My warranty company, Motor Easy, couldn't either.
When I collected my car, there was oil and grease on the driver's seat. I complained to the service desk staff at Halford's, and they said they were sorry and would speak to the MOT mechanic. I had no follow-up from the service desk staff. I telephoned my usual MOT centre, and they recommended an Auto Electrician who diagnosed a failed coil pack and replaced it. He was bewildered why Halfords said not to drive the car, or why they could not diagnose and repair such a simple issue.
I found the experience with Halford’s poor and the staff incompetent. I had to clean my car and organise the repairs myself.
Save yourself the heartache and go to a decent MOT garage
Always a great service from Halfords. They have fixed 2 of my tyres over the last year and they have always been so quick and reliable. Thank you Halfords!
