IMDb let some crackpot take over my daughter's account and post himself as her parent. I've been trying for years to get them to change it, but they haven't. She was an establishing actress. She turns 18 in a few months and we are likely going to file a lawsuit against IMDb for allowing this to happen and not correcting it. Crazy.
Feedback on IMDb: Growing Concerns About Fake Reviews
Feedback on IMDb: Concerns About Fake Reviews
I've been a loyal IMDb user for years, but recently I've noticed a troubling increase in fake reviews. These reviews often either overly praise mediocre films or unfairly criticize good ones, making it hard to trust the ratings.
While IMDb offers a vast database and a user-friendly interface, the rise of fake reviews is seriously undermining its credibility. Stronger moderation tools and possibly a system for verified reviews are needed to combat this issue.
IMDb is a great resource, but addressing the fake review problem is crucial to maintaining user trust.

IMDB was so great.....
IMDB was so great...... but is castrated by the WOKE mind virus.
It is now a worthless biased tool.....
Lets hope TrustPilot will not get infected by the WOKE virus.....
It used to be so good
It used to be so good. Col Needham who invented it is a thoroughly nice man. A Brit from Bath. He never foresaw what would happen.
It’s ruined by fake reviews and now worse still it is so crazy woke as to be worthless. Any comment whatsoever on why it doesn’t make sense to have a black female lead for Vikings Valhalla gets you blocked. A black Anne Bolynne the same.
It’s awful.
My favorite source of information for movie and series
I use this site daily. I huge source to find information about actors, movies, ratings, etc. The user interface could use some tweaking.
It seems that this site is unreliable
It seems that this site is unreliable, fake and untrustworthy for several reasons. Tons of fake revies with 10/10 in the first days and weeks even for terrible movies.
A clear bias favoring extreme woke topics, and extreme left ideology.
A clear bias towards culture appropriation by woke groups and always favoring diversity casting.
Company which does not allow bad…
Company which does not allow bad reviews, well now they will get a review of themselves. If we could give them a lower score than 1 I'd gladly give it.
IMDb
IMDb, in my experience, is a problematic platform due to its significant bias and lack of transparency. The site's moderation practices appear to heavily favor certain movies and shows, likely for financial reasons. This bias often results in the manipulation of ratings, promoting content that benefits their interests rather than reflecting genuine user opinions.
Users are frequently left powerless, unable to share honest reviews without fear of censorship. Many well-written but negative reviews are often deleted, as the platform seems unwilling to acknowledge and display critical feedback for some movies and shows. This creates a skewed perception of content quality, misleading users who rely on IMDb's ratings.
I’ve seen several instances where poorly made series received inexplicably high ratings. Discussing these discrepancies with friends on other social media platforms, where biases are less pronounced, confirms that these shows are often considered subpar by a broader audience. Yet, on IMDb, they boast ratings like 9 out of 10, which is perplexing and undermines the site's credibility.

This shouldn't even get 1.3...it's straight up SCAM!
If you have the misfortune of connecting with them, RUN don't walk!
This website has turned into a completely organizational aberration.
Since 2016 on every single update that is done, when I think that this place has hit the rock bottom, they find a new way to surprise me and are able to dig a bit more.
When they closed their message boards in 2017 I still keep using it, but since 2021 this site is becoming so convoluted that not even for informal research it’s worth anymore.
Their main page is terrible bloated, it’s too difficult to make a fast visual identification of the page’s sections. It took twice the time to scroll to the bottom and everything looks exactly the same, too big images, with black background and white text, absolutely no distinction between anything.
The titles and people’s profiles are a similar mess. With a special attention to the second, they recently have taken out the filmography search filters and only left that awful hierarchy “shell” credits to select.
While the movie’s pages are just simple as confusing as the rest, starting with too many advertisements that disrupt the browsing constantly. Also, mostly part of the image galleries look like a pigsty, they are cluttered with thousands of irrelevant and poor quality, repetitive, too similar screen caps or content that doesn’t have nothing to do with the title, like fan arts. Even “memes” can be found uploaded there.
I also notice that there’s a little-to-none of editorial control over the information that is uploaded by users. It doesn’t have a page history so it’s impossible to know who, when or from where an information that is there came from. It’s not necessary to name sources (or at least reliable sources) to add an information, but while is too easy to add, the site makes too difficult to remove non factual information.
There’re too many irrelevant information added on the trivia, FAQ and parents guide sections that makes me believe that their guidelines are there just for decoration.
The website seems to have become a “playground” for vandals and trolls that got banned from the Wikipedia and fandoms. It’s too easy to find fake/prank information uploaded there like titles (movies or series/podcast episodes) that doesn’t exist or people adding themselves as part of the cast/crew of a movie, trying to falsify some involvement with the movie industry.
Furthermore, they made a new redesign on the users lists that makes difficult to even insert a simple paragraph break on the notes. It’s became terrible to manage your rated titles or even look for new ones due to the recent and equally unpractical redesign of the advanced search function.
So, my conclusion is that IMDb had great days back in the past, but the original purpose as a database got too corrupted and now has turned only into a place to sell movies and TV shows for studios/streaming services (including the ones produced by their own mother company) and promote people from the movie industry serving as a business platform, giving major priority to paid Pro-accounts even when those causes disruptive acts. While the regular user that is contributing in good faith spending a few hours of their free time to add relevant data gets a service that only complicates his life more and more.
Two more observations:
The same criticism that goes for the computer version also extends to their App and the safari browser on mobile phones. It looks like they compete between each other to see who provides a worst service.
For users based on non-English language countries they have removed the option to choose the language on the Safari browser and replaced by a “Use App” button. This limited too much the access to information (such biographies) that can only be found on the english page - we now have to log into the account and change the language sets to see the pages in english.
600 word reviews
600 word reviews - crazy! Why so long? 60 words surely adequate.
IMDB serves no purpose to actors
IMDB serves no purpose to actors. They upcharge for "services" that provide nothing. You can only upload a photo if you pay for premium membership, and once you stop paying they remove every photo you've added including your main picture. Once I used IMDB premium and cancelled it I never used IMDB again.
Abomination
I used to adore this site. Now, of course, as many have fallen, it happened to this piece of trash as well. It's gone completely woke, anti-free speech, an indoctrinating machine that doesn't even stay consistent with its own essence, which is RATINGS: they literally manipulate ratings so as not to offend garbage trash productions of low-life braindeads who sadly have all the privileges now. Just imagine this absurdity: PEOPLE rated one documentary extremely low because, DOOH - it was a freaking abomination of anything that's of any value and fact; history was completely blackwashed, and IMDb manipulated the rating with an exclamation beneath the rating something like "We detected abnormal rating of this product, so we tweaked it" - when you see the actual graph, it was saying 97% rated 1 star, 3% the rest, and IMDb put the overall rating around 7.5 stars... I mean, what the hell? Everything is going crazy. Now, that's only 1% of everything disgusting that's going bad with this "Internet Movie Database" which is more like "Indoctrination Manipulation Devaluation Base", where 'devaluation' happens in fields like common sense, logic, natural and scientific orders, facts... Also, just read their Terms of Service, community guideline... DISGUSTING! They literally FORBID using the word "Woke" - what the hell?! Not to mention other things... it's like, I mean, is this site from China? ...
Don’t trust parental guide.
I am never trusting their parents guides. They’ll say a show is mild on sxual content (Alice In Borderlands) but there is an extremely disturbing scene in episode 6 and a sx scene in season 2.
What happened IMDB
What happened IMDB? Another AI controlled corp, anti-trust, censorship prevails, no free speech? Deleting comments not PC.
I used to turn to you for advice on TV and movies, there is not much point now as it is all weighed towards positive social media instead of reality.
It’s impossible to find important films or comments, which change on every refresh. You cannot find old comments, the app is updated with bug fixes constantly. As a software developer from the 80’s, what is the problem? Why improve what was good?
Look at Attenborough’s Humans? Where is that? It is a bleak portent of our soon destiny. But i guess, as it is not a tear jerker - you don’t bother?
Sadly they are only driven by money.
