Can't even talk to a rep
Can't even talk to a rep. Calling for my brother as inmates forced to upgrade tablets and JPay does not have the software to support said tablet in Madison Ohio facility. He has 10 tickets in system with no solutions. Will contact feds to get some solutions They have no one to speak for them. I feel this is a federal crime as they are based in Florida
Horrible
Horrible!
I don’t like posting bad reviews online but wow! Jpay, plus securus, all of these apps for the incarcerated inmates are so bad!
I put $20 on my loved ones account, which was like $23.50 plus the extra fee, well jpay took a transaction of $23.50 (3 times) out of my bank account!!! I called them and they can’t offer a refund even if it was their mistake! Wow cannot believe this! So disappointed, cant believe how much they take advantage of families ! No refunds! Wow
Both the website and the App are…Unreliable, un-workable and terrible!
Both the website and the App are absolutely terrible. JPay seem to run repeated technology updates and each time, the web-based platform and the App get less and less user-friendly. The App rarely works, the web-based platform is highly un-reliable; frequently not allowing you to log-on and failing to load. Currently, an update has caused typed e-mails to convert to Java Script, causing e-mails to be filled with symbols etc. I have reported to JPay several times, they advise that they are looking into it, and over a week later, this has still not be corrected. The Customer Services Team, if you do manage to reach them, are apathetic and simply do not care about helping. I cannot believe that JPay are still monopolising this sector. They should move over and allow more ethical and customer-focused organisations have a go.
The biggest SCAMMERS
Jpay had feasible services... Since the pandemic they have turned into the biggest scammers... They take your money for services they don't allow... Customer service can never get you a supervisor or manager... They are some of the rudess people... Contact FCC and Consumer Affairs in your state... The more phone calls and complaints something will be done....
Customer Service Reps Are The Worst.....
I don’t like when the jpay app malfunction. Calling into customer service is the worst experience every time I call in. The reps hang up on you once they hear your issue or send you back to the automated menu. I’m one hold for 30 mins and get sent back in the que because a rep doesn’t want to work.
Not receiving emails
My son is not receiving the emails I’m sending. They updated the system and screwed everything up. Is there anyone at JPay that has a clue how to run things?? Always excuses and they make billions off of us.
They treat free citizens like inmates…
They treat free citizens like inmates and overstep their boundaries. I overpay for their services, and ordered a tablet from them. In typical JPAY fashion, it arrived at the facility a month later, didn't have the inmates name on it and had to be returned to JPAY. This isn't even what angered me, bc I'm used to this. When I called to check the status of the item, before speaking to a customer service agent, who was very nice, I had to press 1 to agree to JPAY's terms of service. I've never heard of a company doing this ever simply to speak to a representative, rightfully so, and I could understand if I had to agree to the terms of service before making a payment. But the fact that I had to legally give my loyalty to JPAY over the phone just to speak to someone seems like intimidation, and a way to get people to stop calling. I found the multiple prompts to go online and resolve my issue to be insulting, and I think if I call up JPAY and want to talk to them, for the money I pay them, and the fact that this is a FREE COUNTRY, I shouldn't have to listen to a 3 minute disclaimer telling me to go online to solve my inquiry and have to swear and oath of loyalty to their terms to even speak to them. We might as well have never had an American Revolution and just continued being a colonial power under England if companies like JPAY are allowed to prey off of citizens in the free world, simply bc they want to give support to the 1 out of 99 Americans who are incarcerated.
Horrible company
Terrible service, crazy expensive. Gotta love the monopoly the government gives them.
I never write reviews
I never write reviews, However...Jpay is one of the worst companies I have ever dealt with. I sent a money order 3 weeks ago. It is still sitting in the PO box in Miami, Fla. I have called and emailed them several times. Nobody knows anything. I have yet to receive a response from them. I don't understand. I have a love one waiting for their money, it has been a month. They do this so you get tired and lose your money. I am livid now.
If anyone from Jpay is reading this, GO TO THE POST OFFICE AND PICK UP YOUR MAIL.
JPAY..AND PAY...AND PAY
I wish there was an option for -5 on the stars. This is a predatory company who profits handsomely on the needs of loved ones who are typically socioeconomically challenged to keep in touch with loved ones incarcerated. They price gauges, preying on the challenged and when you realize you e been ripped off and the ridiculously overpriced J player causes o ly more angst in an already stressed out inmate...there is no recourse. You can call customer service a d get condescending validation statements however no REAL help or problem solving happens. I pray that there is karma that follows the millionaire who owns this joke of a communication system and one day someone he loves needs something to keep their sanity and recieve the same type of shotty cheap equipment, attention and customer service. JPAY is racket at best and the only reason they continue is that theyve managed to build a monopoly void of any competition....otherwise they would have folded years ago. I have never had such strong hateful feelings toward a company, especially one that sends a lying empty promise to keep me a d my lived ones connected.....for a price...if you get what you buy...when it eventually comes....not broken...so you can then pay to use said broken equipment...one more straw in the dehumanizing prison system sending the message that inmate lives dont matter, their families dont matter. And people wonder why guards get hurt....what a joke.
Predatory monopoly and usery...
JPay is a predatory corporate entity that makes millions and millions of dollars from the misfortune of others; namely, prisoners and prisoners' loved ones. Because they have a monopoly contract in many states, they can charge exorbitant prices for the most essential of services. It's both disgusting and unsettling that companies like JPay are permitted to operate such a rip-off, scam company.
They make millions off the suffering of…
They make millions off the suffering of others.
AMERIKA!!!!!!!!!
Zero stars?
If there was a zero stars option for this website, that's exactly what I would give it. JPay is a terrible rip-off taking advantage of the families and loved ones of incarcerated citizens. I have two specific issues I'll address in this review. First, be very careful buying more stamps than you need at one time, because they will not be refunded or transferred. If your loved one is moved to a facility outside of their current system (state to county, state to state, state to Fed) you will not be able to use your stamps to write that person anymore. I have over 36 stamps that I lost because my friend was transferred from Ohio State to Federal custody. There is nothing in their terms of service that says that you cannot transfer your stamps. The second issue I have is that Jpay's interface is clunky and slow. Epecially if you attach a picture, you better be ready to wait for a few minutes before your work loads up and gets sent. Also, be very careful navigating away from JPay for any reason if you have already composed some of your letter. Don't take any phone calls, or answer any emails that come on your phone, because JPay will erase all the letter that you've written so far. Here's the really bad news. You will not be able to use any other service but JPay, because they are the only game in town. Those of you who are familiar with the industrial incarceration complex realize how these things work, but for those of you who don't know, there is just one contract for these services given out, and if you're able to email your loved one with JPay, that means they have the contract and there is no other option. So the only thing that we will be able to do, is to write congressmen and newspapers, and have the laws changed so that companies like this can't keep ripping off some of society's most vulnerable citizens.
I was "Scared"!
I was so scared that, Jpay, was a scam! I only wanted to contact an old friend, that I had recently found in the Fl. Dept. Of Corrections. He grew up with my oldest son, and we moved away 5 years ago. I went on ,Jpay, and first tried to buy e-stamps, allowing me to right e-letters and send the young man some family pictures! I tried to buy the stamps and it put up the buffering swirl, and then my e-mail notification went off. I switched screens and it was my bank telling me my account had just been charged, it was the amount it was supposed to be, and then I returned to the site, and it was still buffering! That's when I got a funny feeling! I tried to get back on and cancel the transaction, but then it said that they didn't except pre-paid cards and to please give them a credit card! I bought the card especially for this reason, because I don't want my credit card on a prison account! I know, I download the site through Google play, so I usually trust the sites I use from them! Anyway, I just use snail mail, and send money orders to my buddy, along with the letters and photos I send! And, yes, my money was returned to my account, but, the whole process they use is very, hokie! It should not be that hard to try and help someone!
JPay - Scamming Prisoners & Loved Ones Righteously
JPay has done a great job of getting into a position where they monopolized the Virginia prisoners finances. What have they done a not so good job on? Everything else.
JPay charges hefty fees to the families of inmates who send money to incarcerated loved ones so that they can buy snacks, music, and drinks. But these same fees apply when the inmates need things such as hygiene products or winter clothing.
JPay also provides VA prisoners with the option to purchase tablets that, among other things, will play downloaded music. The $50 tablets are very cheaply made, often breaking in one way or another. Many inmates have to send their tablets back to have them repaired or fully replaced, provided it falls within the short, 3-month warranty period.
The music is purchased via a kiosk which is accessible to inmates. When repairs are needed on the kiosk itself, the only way to alert JPay is by sending a “trouble ticket” to JPay on the very same kiosk that may be malfunctioning to the point that alerting the company may not be possible. Trouble tickets are also used to alert JPay of issues relating to the songs themselves, such as when a song or album has playback issues on the tablets. JPay often denies inmates a refund for these issues, forcing the inmates to spend even more money just to replace the flawed song or album. And when songs average $2 apiece, that money can add up!
Email services are also offered, which charges inmates and their loved ones a set fee for every page they send, even if the pages are in the same email. If a picture is included in the email, an additional fee is charged for each picture in the email, which is equal to the cost of sending one page. The same additional fee applies to e-cards.
On a side note, the companies founder & CEO lives on a tiny harbor island near the northern tip of Miami Beach in a home he bought for about a million dollars. Last year, through a company he controls called El Caballero LLC., Shapiro bought a custom powerboat, dubbed Sea Block, that retails for a half-million dollars.
Heading to the company’s headquarters one July morning, he stopped first for CrossFit, a military-style training regime that he enjoys because it brings out his competitive side, then for daily prayer.
I hope he prays for himself.
