Love their designs

I discovered MakeBox in lockdown and have been a fan ever since. My favourite products so far have been the advent apron and Mr sugar mouse. Sometimes there's too much choice out there so to get a set box to try with different skills is perfect. Great too that you can buy and hoc products.

I have had some really lovely products…

I have had some really lovely products from this company which I utterly adore so would order from them again. The reason I marked down two stars: 1. the shipping isn’t great you can wait a long time for your product leaving you feeling frustrated when so many other small companies have found a way to ship with ease. Secondly you get a lot of repetition of types of projects - I resolved this by coming off of the subscription and buying adhoc but it does mean you purchase a lot less.

Finally I am concerned by the post that the company put up on their Instagram. It seems that instead of taking on the feedback from clients they are using it as a tool to garner sympathy which really doesn’t sit well me. Customers are also not faceless people: they are spending their money on a product and when they provide clear, reasoned feedback it would be nice to feel listened to and not as though you’ve personally attacked the owner of the company.

To answer your shipping questions. Over busy periods such as Christmas shipping can sometimes become delayed. We are a very small family-run business and I hope you understand that throughout the year there are busier times and quieter times with similar teams coping with the dispatch, but we do try to expand them to reflect the demand. We apologise if this has ever affected you.

In terms of the post on Instagram, this was more of a general vulnerability about being a small business owner. It is hard work and when you spend hours on a project you naturally want it to be well received. Each case has its background.

When you solely design products, there of course will be a style of design. We try our hardest not to repeat craft types and delay them by at least 12 months for the subscription. If you subscribe over 3 years then you may find some boxes such as quilling repeated, but this has had a 2-year gap. This is the nature of most subscription companies, which is why we decided to open up the shop. You can also easily swap boxes for something you like simply by adjusting this on the website or popping us an email. We pride ourselves on our customer service.

We always listen to customers and post at least twice a year to ask people about the sort of projects they would like to see from us. We are up for anything and love receiving suggestions! Both Polymer clay and weaving boxes were created after a customer poll.

The boxes are nice but repetitive

The boxes are nice but after a while become a bit repetitive with a lot of embroidery and wreaths. In recent months errors have crept in to the instructions, insufficient materials provided for the wreath, wrong aida fabric for a cross stitch so the design did not fit the frame, value for money is poor. I deeply resent paying for subscriptions (or a any other order) a month before dispatch. Its painful to swap a box and the order shows as subscription in your orders, not what the box is so its easy to forget what is coming. Delivery is typically ten days after dispatch so the idea of 48 hour tracked delivery is laughable. So nice for an occasional box if you are not in a hurry but service and website functionality mar the experience so much that I have unsubcribed

We can see you have placed over 40 orders with us so we hope your experience with the projects has not all been bad. The subscription has always been charged the month before dispatch and is clearly outlined in the terms of sale and in our renewal emails. We have looked into your last few orders and as requested in email, we would appreciate you sharing examples of the late deliveries for us to look into as we could not find evidence of these delays. No more buying excessive stuff I won't use again

I've always loved crafts but being neurodivergent I tend to have a habit of hyperfixating on something, spending £££s and then getting overwhelmed before starting the new craft. I'd then see a new shiny thing and go through the process again.

I've saved lots of money, space and get to enjoy crafting again with MakeBox&Co!
I love that everything I need is in one box. I'm learning to enjoy the process and aim to finish, rather than stress about perfection.

I can pause or switch the subscription and the reward system is good too.

Something to look forward to

Fab!

I’ve been with MakeBox since their first box and each project I’ve received has been amazing! It’s given me the chance to try out different crafts and get addicted to some new ones! Their customer service is great and they go above and beyond to help you out (mainly website user error on my part!)

Amazing customer service

Amazing customer service. I ordered a box and life got busy, so I didn’t open it for almost a year. When I did open it I realised a piece was missing. I sent a message to ask if it was at all possible to send out the missing piece. I was shocked that so long after the box was released they were still able to send my replacement piece! Amazing service.

Setting the standard for good customer service

The products are lovely. Good quality and clearly created with passion. I’ve been a long time subscriber and have never been disappointed by anything I’ve received. I enjoy the transparency of what you’re going to receive in advance, and I particularly like that you’re able to skip a box or pause the subscription for as long as you like. It has meant they’ve kept me as a customer, where other subscription companies haven’t.

What particularly shines for me with this company is their customer service. They stand out because whenever I’ve needed to contact them, they have bent over backwards to ensure I’m happy and to make me feel valued as a customer. I can’t tell you how rare that seems to have become. I appreciate it enormously and wouldn’t hesitate to recommend this company to my friends.
