I've called two times to get some…

I've called two times to get some information and it was more than half an hour waiting for a customer representative. I called to ask them why my wife is not able to use her benefits as beneficiary, so they told me that my wife was not registered as a beneficiary, so they can't offer any service at all. My point is, I did that process in paper with my Company, and the Company confirm they did the process, so it looks like Manulife is not doing its job properly and now my wife is supposed to wait a whole year for being registered in the system. Not fun at all.

If I could give minus 100 stars I would…

If I could give minus 100 stars I would do it.

Customer representatives are indeed very friendly but the company's processes are so useless that the reps can't really make up for the lack of efficiency, lack of robustness and lack of features that their system/processes offer.

I've been trying to provide Manulife with some documents as proof that one of my kids is still at school full time but hey, my documents are either ignored or trashed or I don't know what.

My employer even tried to do the changes themselves from the internal admin portal but even that does not cut it.

So overall, if your employer suggests Manulife as a health coverage provider, better ask them to think twice.

They denied my claim- won’t provide a reasn

They denied my claim- there is a drop down option “why was my claim denied” I submitted. The response was . ‘ Hi! Thanks for contacting us. Sorry, we’re unable to respond to this request. Our FAQ page may have the answer you’re looking for. Click here for our FAQ page.“ I did not find the answer . Why have the option to ask the question if you’re not going to answer. They only cover a small portion of most of my prescriptions. I tried to download the coverage details for my plan . Nothing downloads. Last year they denied a special authorization for a medication. They told me it was an incorrect form. they sent it to me! 3 times! Not pleased with Manulife at all

Two weeks of hell

Tried to sign on to Manulife bank. Both online verification tools failed, so I clicked the "verify manually" button, got an email reponse saying they would be in touch in a couple days. aAweek later nothing. Called, they lied and said they had sent me the form. Checked email. It was sent two minutes ago (after my call). Filled out and submitted the form, through docusign, again no response for over a week. Called, they can't find the application (that I was actually looking at in docusign). Asked to talk with a supervisor. Can't but "they will call me bac"k. Instead, they resent the full application, and deleted my information from their system. They are incompetent and ueless. I wouldn't trust them to water my lawn, let alone manage my bank account or investments. Their avg 1 star rating on here is well deserved.

Manulife denied my claim

Manulife denied my claim . After Surveilling me for over a Year before I even applied for LTD.

Hillary Steele Claims manaher claimed t
Manulife arent surveilling me after I complained to PSIS , and the I surance Ombudsman.

They also made.me fill out an Activities of Daily Living form so they coukd follow me around , to the corner store, Loblaws, Buying clothing and even followed me after i culdnt drive and I was rediced ti using a bicycle and Subjected me to insulting reviews of My file by Agents who claim to be Doctors who are paid by Manulife.

Natalie Gamarnik of Manulife denied my claim stating that "Cyling" is a Hobby and Disabled people don't ride bicycles. If she only knew I had no income and was forced to ride the bicycle and still emabarassed and humiliated me.
He manager Hillary Steele also denies they are surveiling me .

They had me fill out the Activities of Daily living so they could know when my next appointment with my doctors was so they could video me so they could deny my claim.

I confirmed this with a Lawyer.

I am so upset that I have been left with no income and now losing my home because Manulife doesn't think I have leukemia, Clinical Depression, Double Bypass, Heart Attack, Diabetes and left me without income or medication.

Manulife basically left me to die.

Worst Insurance Company EVER!

If I could, I would give a 0 star. One of the WORST insurance companies to deal with. Made over 30 phone calls, across the span of 3 months, with customer service employees, managers and even managers in the complaints team. No one ever replies to emails or phone calls. They screwed up the maximum value of my dental benefits 4 times! And then didn't even fully pay out one of my claims. Absolutely horrible. Never get insurance from this company.

Manulife worst customer service…

Manulife has the worst customer service I've ever experienced in my life, several 5-7 calls to dispute a charge. Escalated service officers don't reply, leave ticket hangining and never ever call you back.

Horrible group benefits

Horrible group benefits. customer service you can never get a hold of anybody and your worker never calls you back... Their policies are unrealistic no wonder people stay on the insurance for so long. When transitioning to long-term you have to wait till the end of the month to receive a payment how does that even make sense. Definitely going to be talking to my company about this.

Worst mortgage company ever.

I allowed my mortgage broker to convince me to move to manulife. What a mistake that was. They tried to strong arm me into closing all my bank accounts to move to them which would have involved moving 23 auto payments. They are also charging me banking fees for an account I don’t use which they take off their line of credit again which I get charged interest for. They promised to auto withdraw the mortgage payments from my main account to manulife account to cover mortgage but have yet to do so again 3 months of interest charges and an extra step for me to transfer funds myself each month. Also found out they do not submit to the credit bureau so you don’t even get credit for paying a mortgage with them. None of this was told to me up front. After 3 months I still do not have copies either hard or digital of my mortgage or terms. I’ve called at least a dozen times and they never get back to you and they don’t answer emails at all. It’s been a complete nightmare and they gave me a 5.20% locked rate when I can get 4.29% anywhere else. I just broke my mortgage with them after only 3 months and gladly paid the penalty to get out of the deal. Absolute worst company I’ve ever worked with. They didn’t even add the mortgage protection life insurance that I requested up front so they tried to suck me in after the fact with yet another payment. If you are thinking of uses these guys as a mortgage company you are crazy.

Manulife Withdrawing Mortgage Protection Premiums Years After Mortgage Ended – Unethical Practices, How It Could Have Been Handled

I want to share my experience with Manulife regarding mortgage protection insurance premiums that continued being withdrawn long after my mortgage was paid off in June 2022.

Here’s what happened:
• From June 2022 to March 2025, Manulife withdrew roughly $50/month from my account, totaling approximately $1,600, without any notice. I only discovered these withdrawals in March 2025 while reviewing my statements.
• When I contacted Manulife, they initially offered a 6-month refund, despite the fact that 33 months of premiums had been collected after the mortgage ended. I provided all documentation proving the mortgage was fully paid.
• After multiple follow-ups, they claimed that only 24 months could be refunded and that the matter needed supervisor review—despite this issue dragging on for over six months.
• I submitted a formal complaint and a follow-up email, and received no response.

How this could have been handled better:
1. Automatic cessation of premiums: Manulife should have had internal checks to stop insurance withdrawals as soon as the mortgage was paid off.
2. Proactive communication: If the system continued withdrawals, Manulife could have contacted me immediately to explain and resolve the issue.
3. Reasonable resolution: Upon discovering the error, they could have offered a full refund of all premiums withdrawn after the mortgage ended, instead of partial refunds and unnecessary delays.
4. Clear escalation process: Supervisor review should have been immediate, not after six months of waiting.

It’s frustrating to see a company continue to take money for services that are no longer required, offer inadequate solutions, and ignore complaints for months. Mortgage brokers and customers, beware: this kind of unethical behavior appears to be tolerated.

Frustration Overload

My plan administrator is no longer able to log in. I need to add another employee and I can't because I am not a plan admin. I have called five times and explained the problem. Each time I sit on hold for 10-20 minutes and each time the person finally answers, assures me I will be transferred to the proper department. And each time I get transferrred back to the initial recording where I have to start the process all over again. The last time the human put me on a "brief" hold and told me if the call dropped she would call back. She did not. This is unacceptable. Stay away from these people. I am currently on hold again. Nutso. It seems that this Canadian company has shipped its customer service overseas without the neccessary e-infrasture to service their customers.

Brutal Customer Care

I never expected to receive the worst customer service of my life while dealing with the aftermath of my mother passing away, yet here I am writing this review.

I was named the beneficiary for my mother’s RRIF/LIF. She passed away in January 2025. It took until May 2025 to submit all of the necessary documents. I was told that it would take a couple weeks to process everything and that a cheque would be mailed to me (they don’t do direct deposit, super archaic company).

Two months went by and no cheque was received. I’ve called every week for the past 6 weeks and it’s always the same thing. The agent says they will call me back with an update in a few days, which they never do. Now it’s almost October 2025

Apparently I was supposed to receive a form in the mail to select how I would like to receive the funds, that form never arrived. On top of that, one of the initial forms I had to submit already had a section for this which I had selected the “cash payout” option.

I’ve even informed them that I had to pay out of pocket for funeral expenses which required me taking out a personal loan, which is accumulating interest. I can’t even pay for a headstone until I receive these funds which I’m entitled to. Still no urgency to help rectify this situation.

All these negative reviews are true, this company is SO incompetent and their customer service is beyond awful. They deserve zero trust or respect.

Stay Away from Manulife Insurance

The Worst Insurance Company Avoid Manulife

Manulife is by far the worst insurance company I’ve dealt with. They are expensive, and they don’t care about their clients. Their customer service is useless agents just read off a script and have no real answers or solutions. When problems come up, they are completely unprepared.

This company will do everything possible to avoid paying out. You end up paying monthly premiums just so they can keep your money, while you get no benefits in return. A true waste of time, money, and trust.

Stay away there are better companies out there that actually care about
