A gate release which is contolled by an electonic circiut board is outside the expertise of your electricians.

I was extremely happy with the timely and professional work from Aaron and Josh. They expertly replaced an exhaust fan mounted on a glass window and upgraded our existing power board with earth leakage protection.A highly recommended team!

The administrative staff are polite and well versed in the technicalities so was able to organise the right service for me. The staff sent to the house were very efficient, conscientious and helpful. They were looking if there was anything else they could assist us with whilst they were there, to ensure a full offering of service.

A few months ago we noticed that the lights in the living room started dimming themselves out after 10 -15 min from the time we'd switch them on. Within a week or two they were gone completely.
I called Mcintosh electrical as they did some small jobs for us in the past and are our locals, explained what happened with the lights and was given the time for the electrician' visit.
The two young gentlemen arrived, One electrician took a screw driver literally out of his pocket, removed the cover from the switch, pulled out tiny object and said that the problem might be in the "dimmer".
While he was doing that the other young man -for some reason- was wondering around the house and then just disappeared (I understood he went to the car);
The electrician who was looking at the switch' issue went outside and brought a new dimmer, put it into the switch, checked that the lights were working and left.
The whole job took about 10 - 15 minutes.

a few days later i receive an invoice for $405.85.
it included: Call out and first hour fee of $265.00, dimmer itself $103.00.

In the past Mcintosh's call out fee was $90.00 - as per the invoices that are still avail in my computer.

- I was not provided with a quote or fee estimate for the services before they were performed.
- I was not made aware before being invoiced for the fees that they have a call out fee of $265 + GST.
Had I been made aware of it, I would not have agreed.

A call out fee of $265 during ordinary business hours for work that is not emergency work is materially above market standard rates for electrical work in metropolitan Sydney.

Our concern is that Mcintosh Electricals might be putting in a difficult position pensioners and/or elderly by charging them a massive unaffordable by some call-out fee for a minuscule job (such as dimmer or a light bulb replacement) without notifying them about astronomical charges during booking. 

Very disappointed.

We recently engaged McIntosh Electrical to extend power from the power board to our garage at the rear of our property.
Their team did an excellent job completing it in one day. It was a big job which included running cable from the power board to the rear of the house then digging a trench to the garage to accommodate the cable and installing lighting and power points inside the garage.
The job was done quickly and efficiently and extra effort was made to conceal any new cabling inside the house. The grass sods were put back in place when the trench was filled in and a general cleanup afterwards was very much appreciated.
We highly recommend McIntosh Electrical who have previously done other smaller jobs for us.
