Only Positive Feedback From Me!

I know most of the reviews are negative but I can't understand why the rating for Mears is so low.

I have always received fantastic care, service and support from everyone there. When I call them about a faulty lift (quite often) they arrange for an engineer visit usually the same day!

If I call up about a plumbing problem they send a plumber the same day (or next day if it's not urgent). If there's a broken security gate they arrange repair usually the same day. Same with communal lighting.

Honestly, if you're cool and respectful I can guarantee you'll get great service. At the end of the day Mears are genuinely trying their best to give a great service, just be aware that the person you're speaking with is very likely overworked and underpaid.

Thank you to everyone at Mears for always providing great advice and service.

I had William ( Joiner) from Mears who came out to my property to attach a new shower door, he went above and beyond as he also attached beading around my bath. I would highly recommend William he was fantastic, he even cleaned up after himself. It was a pleasure no stress what so ever.

The words I wish I could have used on…

The words I wish I could have used on the phone with the unsympathetic man I spoke with. Housebound and boiler not working again. Apparently because the boiler turns on and gives me an entire 60 seconds of heating in only the kitchen and bathroom before completely shutting off, it doesn’t warrant an emergency visit, despite it reaching -1 tonight. Ground floor bungalow too and recovering from surgery. These people are useless and I hate them. They only repaired the boiler last in October. They never fix anything, always cause conflict and should not be employed by the council.

I could have learnt to replace my floor myself in the months it took them to get round to doing it. Come to think of it the 9 total days I took off work while they repeatedly didn't show up would probably have paid for it too. Criminals honestly

Non existent service

Appalling service. They were meant to do a repair today and didn’t turn up. They hadn’t arranged the appointment and I only found out they were coming by calling the council helpline. I can’t communicate directly with them as they appear to have disabled their phone. I have been trying to call for the last two weeks. Thanks to their non existent service I will have to continue putting up with rats in my home over Christmas.

The engineer came yesterday to fix the bathroom, but they turned off our hot water and we have had no hot water since. I have called the company several times, and each time I am told that an engineer will come within 24 hours — but after 24 hours, I am told the same thing again with no action. This situation is very frustrating and unacceptable. We need the hot water restored urgently, and I would appreciate a proper follow-up without any more delays.

We had a leak in our shower tray

We had a leak in our shower tray, problem been going on a long long time.
Many Engineers have come to repair it in various ways, all completely unsuccessful. Leaking into ceiling of kitchen, crack approx 8 ft long, Mears we’re going to repair ceiling before sorting out the leak so we had to ask for them to sort leak out. Engineer said shower doors are defective so I need new shower doors to fix leak., as from today, nothing has been done to engineer satisfaction, guy turned up to do leak, but he pressed the bell and walked straight away without waiting for me to answer door, I have him on my door cam. Mears is a joke. Absolutely useless. Come on havering sort this out before my ceiling falls in.

This company really needs a kick up the ass. They should try putting themselves in the customer's position. We can't use our kitchen sink or washing machine

1941 house in Eastbourne recently had a brand new front door fitted the finished product was a door that was too small for the structural opening and finished with white tacky pvc trip not fitted properly and what I can only imagine was at least 20 tubes of silicone used!!!
Mears should change their name to bogdit & scarper
The original opening is 900 x 2140mm
The door they fitted is 880 x 2080mm
I work in construction a 5mm tolerance is acceptable on each side

Appalling Customer Service

This company really needs to improve their customer service.
I was spoken to extremely rudely on the phone today, but this was nothing compared to how the tradesman treat my 91 year old parent today.
He tried to tell him he had repaired his light hoping the fact that has lost 75% of his sight didn't matter. Luckily his son in law arrived just as the tradesman tried to leave. He said a light flickering on and off and putting bathroom into darkness was ok because it worked sometimes. He was asked to replace the light, which after a call to his manager agreed to do, but very angry about it. He finished the job, stormed out of the house without saying goodbye or even saying job was finished. Complaint will be going into local authority.

A mixed barrel (mears group Exeter)

A mixed barrel. I have been in my council flat for years, I have a son with autism so I am currently at this time unable to work and we are low income so my home doesn't look the best. It is tidy and generally clean. But it doesn't look like a five star show home or mansion. I have done the best with what I've got and also had to make do as my council is slow at fixing and repairing things. For example my kitchen is overdue to be replaced and has broken cabinets and drawers and they still haven't replaced my bathroom ceiling. I've had men from mears group come and go over the years some have been friendly, understanding and supportive. I am also poor so it's taking a while to save up for new carpets, and to complete diy that needs doing. But I have had some mears men come into my home and instead of trying to understand my situation and not pass judgement, they have made me feel judged and uncomfortable. I had one man smile and be nice to my face but then loudly call me a "lazy b**ch" when he was in the other room when he was replacing my bathroom taps. And then this evening I had another mears man imply there was nothing wrong with my boiler over the weekend and that he wasn't saying it didn't happen but he couldn't see anything wrong with it now and I needed to give the boiler more time to heat up and this can take a few minutes. When I explained me and my son had waited over ten minutes for the water to heat. And explained to him it hadn't happened before he was fake polite in return. Still saying he's not saying it didn't happen but still implying that I needed to be patient. He went through other theories that the boiler or thermostat had been wrongly fiddled with. His tone towards me was just off. Just seemed irritated with me. Every time mears has to come round I am filled with dread. Because you never know if they are gonna be nice or judgemental or downright nasty.

Mears Redbridge

Mears Redbridge

As others, I would give a 0 or minus 5 if I could.
Absolutely shocking company. Terrible customer service. One time an employee was arguing with me for 5 minutes saying my address was not a council property when it obviously is and I’ve contacted them many times for a repair.

Once they send someone out they wash their hands of the problem and say it’s not their responsibility anymore. They send the wrong people and fail to provide them with any detail with regards to the repair. I called them about a blocked sink and when the man turned up he asked me where the leak was. So he didn’t have any tools to unblock my sink as he was told it was leaking. I spent the whole day at home waiting for him for no reason.

I called them multiple times to fix our communal door downstairs in my block of flats as it doesn’t properly slam shut. They failed to fix it. Yesterday a mentally unwell man came INTO my flat because he got in through the faulty door. Mears still failed to fix it yesterday and today despite multiple calls and giving them the police crime reference number. They sent a carpenter out who obviously wasn’t trained on how to fix the self closing door mechanism and hadn’t had the correct equipment with him. When he called me he told me to keep badgering them because Mears won’t do anything once he does his report.

And sure enough, despite two calls to them today and them promising to send an emergency repair out, they were simultaneously telling me it’s not their responsibility anymore and they’d done their part. And sure enough, no one came and no one repaired anything.

Currently in the midst of complaint process with the council because this is beyond ridiculous now.

Mears are a total waste of space

Mears are a total waste of space! I have never known a company that has such poor customer service and such incompetent operatives to still be in business! I reported that my 6ft fence was swaying badly in the high winds. They sent out a 'window fitter ' to assess it. Weeks later they sent a text giving me a date of when a technician was coming out to repair it. I waited in and no one turned up. I then reported that my gate had a broken catch and hinge. They said they'd book it to be completed when they come to do the fence. That appointment was for this afternoon. I get a message at 10.54am to say they're 15 minutes away. I had popped up town stupidly believing it would be a PM appointment as they had confirmed, so I had to do a mad dash back to my house to meet them. The final insult us they only did half a job. They fixed one fence post but left the other one loose so the fence panel still sways back and forth. Oh, they did use my garden rake to prop up the loose post though. Clearly that's a new fencing skill they're taught now. To use tenants gardening tools as structural support. Then in regards to my gate. They didn't even look at it let alone repair it. Its still hanging by one hinge, broken catch and all, just flapping in the wind. I am so frustrated by their inability to do anything right. What do you do though? You are literally at their mercy! Useless!

Mears Redbridge….

Mears Redbridge….. 1 star is abit much!!!!! The customers service on the phone is atrocious….. it’s like they wanna come off that phone and turn up in your door and fight you. I do not know where they employ these people from. They kept putting the phone down on me. Could give me a straight yes or no to say if the plumber has been called. I’ve been calling them for 5 years. The staff they employ need to learn telephone etiquette. They need to listen to people properly. I just think if you’re that rude to customers why you working in customer services.
