Monumental Incompetance
This band of buffoons have consistently failed to achieve the very low standards they set themselves. I agree with other reviewers that Mears appears to see these situations as work-creation opportunities. They deliberately stretch the work out as long as possible to extract the most money from the council taxpayers of Exeter. They also do not like being held accountable. I recently contacted the housing assets surveyor who very quickly got things moving. Mears obviously did not like this and is now playing petty power games and deliberately delaying the internal works in a pathetic attempt to establish dominion. They are truly awful.

How these people get away with contracts is beyond me. Bodge job everything,cheap as possible. They create work with simple jobs so they have to come back out and say they're "affective" they're *really* not... most recently I've had a 2 year long disrepair battle going on, still uncompleted and my solicitors at gowing law have told them it's a breach of contract as they have instructed them supposed to hack off 2 m square by 2 meter square of plastering by my front door, left wires dangling covered by "gaffa tape" to "make it safe" took over a week to get electrician out, planner never called me back when I was told they would. Always show up when your not in dates and times are never given. I would never use if I had personal choice.

How this company has Government contracts is mind boggling. Especially the MOJ.
Staff have no previous experience working with offenders or CJS. Nor do any managers.
Staff who support vulnerable adults after their release from prison cannot relate to their clients due to lack of experience, and most including managers can't even complete risk assessments let alone follow them. Staff are to support both men and women in the community alone, within the property supplied my mears some of which are HMOs snd have multiple tenants. This was put in place to save money so as to win the contract. Before this every visit was co.pleted with 2 people attending. Mears do not give a shit about their staffs safety AT ALL.
Staff google clients to read up on their offences then discuss with other members of the team and share their unwanted opinions and negative comments with each other. Disgusting !.
Hopefully a better company that genuinely wants to make a difference will win the next tenure. Can't Wait.

Today I supported my mother move furniture ready for Mears to undertake some works to her council property. I was sat in lounge having taken annual leave bearing in mind I travelled 50 mins to help in order for a rude and arrogant worker to turn up. The way he spoke to my mother was absolutely sickening. They treat council tenants with no respect or decentee..the sooner the contract expires the better for the council they are clearly defrauding the system on their work with them refusing to actually mitigate the issue at my mothers property. Good this time
I had a good experience this time. I live in a Council house and since moving in a year ago I always felt the gas heating was a bit quirky, it comes on and goes off and there is a smell of gas, though that could be the next door neighbour.
Someone came and tested it and all was apparently fine.
Same guy came back the next year and insisted on cranking up my boiler to a much higher temperature than I usually have it on, waste my gas, water and even electricity, I was not impressed.
Then he cited me because I could not find the remote which I have not needed since it is summer, but I pointed out the intermittent red light which comes on and goes off on the device?
I generally don't use heating during summer.
He put in for a replacement after he left and I found the remote...
F21 error on the boiler started after he left, reset worked ish off and on.
Still not really using the boiler at the time as it is only used for central heating and to give hot water in the kitchen.
As Mears were coming out to replace the remote I got the engineer to check the F21 error at the same time, grateful that the engineer was able to fit this in while he was here.
He did various tinkering with the boiler and got it to work again, out the door and within 10 minutes it had stopped working again. Fortunately he was still in the car park, so I got him to come back, he was very nice, fiddled around again and 15 min later he got it working again.
Ofc when he left it stopped working again.
So had to book another appointment and he came out again, tested everything, replaced, pretty much every part except one and it started working again, until it stopped again.
He then told me they needed to order a part, offered me 2 fan heaters to tide me over.
Thinking that it would only be a day or two for the part to arrive, I declined the fan heaters...
It took 2 weeks for the part to arrive and book a new appointment, bitterly cold and regretted not taking the fan heater option.
He completed the job and heating worked, it has been such a relief to have heating over the rest of the cold nights through November into January 2025, so I am really grateful to this engineer for sticking with it and making sure the boiler got properly fixed.
While I found the gas safety inspector a right pain and a bit abrupt and lacking in social skills, the engineer was great and I have to accept that if the gas safety inspector hadn't run the boiler at high temperature I never would have known that there was a problem until it was too late.

I think I've just spoken to the rudest female representing the Mears group. Said my windows were going to be replaced, and they were coming out on the 7th of January, I said isn't that to measure up or replace the windows, she proceeds to say in a loud voice " you'll get a letter " I repeated is that to measure up for new windows, or are you replacing them, she booms out " you'll get a letter in the post. The workmen have always been so polite and helpful, I have no complaints at all, however maybe the female who rings customers, should go back to school, or at least basics on how to interact with people, zero people skills, extremely angry, rude lady. I had a really bad experience with their service. They texted me saying they would come, but nobody showed up. I rushed home, leaving everything behind, and ended up waiting for them without any communication. It's frustrating that there's no contact number to reach out for help. They also fined me and sent a link that doesn't work. Overall, I’m very disappointed and would not recommend their service.

States is diability friendly they are not ! They do not care about the service users they get paid to care for. Will stab employees in the back to protect their contracts. Service users live in properties that some are not fit for purpose and will cover this up by only showing the client select properties.
Expect staff to cover up their incompetances and will blame staff that have had little or no training to get themselves off the hook.

On the phone for over 2 hours starting at number 9 in the Queue! Got to number 2 without anyone actually answering! Terrible service! My client is vulnerable so leaving her with such awful service is not on! Thankfully an engineer arrived earlier than expected and carried out the job perfectly and the 2 stars do not

Delay to Fire Retardant Door
We have been waiting since February to have a fire retardant front door fitted, which we are obliged to have and pay for. After numerous delays the door fitters turned up today only to find the door did not fit as Mears had provided the wrong measurements. The incompetence of Mears is beyond belief
