Just terrible - if you buy a used car with warranty assist, motor angel or motor easy - it’s all part of the same scam - not interested in paying out if you need them. AVOID

Excellent communication and service

This is my first experience of MOTANGEL and so far it has been very positive, mainly due to their excellent communication. I have been kept posted of all developments at all times removing the anxiety usually involved with services, etc. My car was picked up and retuned as arranged and all work needed and costs were carefully explained in a non-pressurised manner by Ian. So far, I would highly recommend them.

MOT EXPERIENCE

Excellent customer service, you get exactly what you have been offered with no small print suprise payments. MOT failed at first with minor repairs, which were repaired and fixed under my warranty plan so no cash to pay for repairs #excellent. BEST decision I made by paying £99.00 pass guarantee, as any repairs that were not obvious during the MOT causing it to fail were covered. Would have cost me alot more had I paid for a regular MOT, then havery to pay for repairs also. So happy with the two members of staff at MOT ANGEL who helped arrange everything from beginning to end. Dane and Ryan were excellent and gave impeccable customer service to the highest of standards. Polite, helpful, genuine and kept me updated the whole time my car was in for MOT. They deserve a big bonus and 5 star customer service recognition. Thank you again, very much appreciated.

Great Service Again!

This is the third time I've used MOT Angel. I previously used them to fix an ABS sensor and for an MOT. This time I needed 2 new tyres, Steve from MOT Angel took the time to assess what tyres were best for me and made a recommendation, I'm glad I took his advice, not only did I get good tyres but Steve also managed to get them cheaper than I could find online. I would definitely recommend MOT Angel.

Mot Angel

Great service on collecting my vehicle, after the MOT was completed & on returning my vehicle back to my home address.

After asking for a comparison between what garage charge and I was charged by MOT angel. I'm still waiting for a definitive answer.

The main problem could be their non user friendly email platform. It's not very good when answering on a mobile and it looks like you don't get a response either. Left a message no answer until i left a review. And yes someone did call me but I was driving so missed the call. I called back and left a voicemail and like the email I'm waiting for a response.
The answer I was given the second time was the same as I first got, which was we find you the best deal and pass on the savings but. No one has proved thus to me in facts and figures. The only fact I know is that halfords charged me through MOT Angel £69ish for a budget tyre for my result scenic grande , the garage I've always gone to wanted £54 for one of their better tyres. I was promised by the gentleman from MOT Angel that he would look into this but it was never sorted. At the moment I'm not sure what benefit there is by going through MOT Angel other than paying someone to book my MOT and service and I think I could manage that myself. If you can prove that I did receive value for money let me know. I've dropped my review because status I have to chase the answers.

Reply from Motor Angel

Hi Michael,

I have tried calling this afternoon to discuss the pricing difference.

We are sorry that you weren't completely satisfied with the MOT Angel experience so far. For your peace of mind, I will summarise here why the MOT Service is the best value service for you and your car, compared to the standard service offered at the workshop we took your to.

The interim service is sometimes slightly cheaper than our MOT Service, but does not include a check of your antifreeze (which is vital in the winter), and we do not add any extra cost for fully synthetic oil (which your car needs) but others, including the workshop we took you to, do.

Around 75% of the checks in a full service, are actually completed in the MOT, so you are effectively charged twice for these checks when you book an MOT with full service at any workshop.

Our MOT service is cheaper than these full services because we do not double charge - the service follows the MOT inspection and completes the vital checks that the MOT does not cover.

Finally, it is important to note that on all bookings, we check the manufacturer guidelines, which is not standard in all workshops.

Also, had you purchased any repairs directly from our workshop, you would have paid more for less, as we have split our trade discounts with you.

I hope that this reassures you that the MOT service, which is the service Dane described, was completed and was good value and very suitable for your car.

Yours sincerely,
Steve

MOT Angel Engineer

Dear Michael,

Thank you for your message.

You last sent us a message on 11th June and we tried to call you, and then responded by message that we could not find a cheaper service online, but would be happy to investigate further if you could provide details.

We apologise for any confusion, and will call you again today. But if you would like to call Steve, the engineer handling your case, he would be very happy to discuss the details of your query.

Regards

2 nd service with halfords

I had my car serviced by halfords 3 years ago- when i got the car back there was grease marks on the door arm rest & the centre arm rests & on the 4 wheel drive switch.I had decided not to use them again but when MOT angel told me it would be halfords for this service & MOT i thought i would give them a second chance.
I got the car back today again with grease on the centre arm rest & door arm rest.
When the car was picked up the driver did not put a cover on the seat & on the return of the car they did not cover the seat.
Will not use halfords again.
I will not use MOt Angel again after discovering you charge £20.00 for the booking fee & £ 10,00 on top of the MOT fee.
Rang halfords the following day and spoke to the manager who said he would get the car picked up on Monday 25 04 16 to get it cleaned.
Monday 25 04 16 rang again at about 12.00 pm was told they were short staffed but would try to get it picked up .
time now 16.30 and doesn`t look like there going to turn up.
Also they still have not given me the paperwork yet.

Complete waste of time in my case

I have had no end of trouble with this service, unfortunately they are forced on me so I have no other choice, I bought some warranty on a car I bought, and they palm you off to these guys to deal with, although it wouldn't surprise me if the warranty company messes these guys around as well, but that's no excuse to pass it on to their customers.

My experience so far, after I bought the car I was getting ready to get it serviced, as I noticed it was due, but just as I was about to make the booking with a garage these guys rang, and said their records showed the car was due a service, and I had to have it done or it would invalidate the warranty, so I had to book it via themselves, so I did, they also asked me of any issues I had noticed with the car, and they would sort that all at the same time, so I said my lights were dangerously low visibility wise, so they said they would sort all that out at the same time, to the tune of £180, took it to the local high street name car place they told me to, and over 24 hours later I got it back, only 1 single thing was done to the car, and the service book and report sheet showed they did nothing (nice work for £180), all they did was look round the car listing problems, and putting my sidelight bulbs in the bin, replacing them with standard ones, even though I told them they were new high quality bulbs bought from them the day before when I left the car with them, but this chain of events is more from the high street stores side of things.

Anyway I had no end of trouble getting MOT Angel to find out why nothing was done, especially the lights as they were dangerous, multiple calls from me trying to get a response went unanswered, being bumped up to someone with more power chasing why nothing was done, many failed promises of calling me back, all ending up with a final call where I actually got to speak to the person it was moved up to for them to resolve this, saying they won't touch the lights as they were after market ones, which was the way the car came, but the first guy said it should have been done, I wasn't to know about that as it was bought that way, and is why people buy warranty's, but when the person higher up the ladder finally came back he also said they would not touch the lights for the same reason, so £180 out of pocket and the only thing they did cost me even more money, and hassle as they said I had to get the dealer I bought from to put the stock lights back in before they would touch them, eventually this was done, but again with extreme hassle to me.

I ended up complaining to the warranty people about this, and low and behold these guys were back on the phone, supposedly in disbelief of it all, so I did their job for them and sent scans of the paperwork they did to them, and after they went through to someone in the local high street name car place's places (possibly head office) they came back to me and couldn't apologise more, and booked me into a different garage, this time it was a standalone one, and it showed, because they know only to well what good service means, and they did a proper service this time, but again the lights went untouched, as the person had supposedly told them the car had to be taken to a main dealer for a diagnostic to be done, at my expense of course, with a veiled promise of it being refunded if it found a problem that they would attend to, which was something I couldn't afford, so I went to the guy they sent me to and asked him about this, and he said he knew nothing about it, so I have very little trust in these guys, and will certainly NEVER use them again after the warranty is over, they work on peoples fear of expensive issues arising, taking their money, charging over the odd's for the work that is done, failing to resolve dangerous problems that don't fit exactly in their little boxes, most people who keep their cars properly maintained would save money staying away from this lot, only the few lucky enough to have an expensive fault that fits in their boxes may benefit here, just don't forget to take into account on how much and how long (assuming you have an annual subscription or similar) you have paid for the service you get into account, e.g. you pay £100 a year, and after 3 years (£300 cost so far) you need a repair costing £150, you could save £150 sorting it yourself, but for me they have been a complete joke, and the only ones laughing are them.

Communication

I am quite happy with the service and MOT to my car although I would like more info and a more detailed breakdown as to what the mechanic did to my car.

Small online hiccup but sorted over the phone

I originally filled out the form online and then waited to be sent garage information. After a couple of days I gave them a call. Turns out my request hadn't been logged via the online service but everything was dealt with swiftly over the phone with a customer service rep. My car went in at Halfords, it failed due to brake lights, but this was covered by Mot angel. The only thing I can complain about is that I didn't receive another call to let me know that my car had been re-tested and passed and I could pick up car. I called the garage myself. All the staff that I dealt with were very friendly and helpful. I will definitely use this service again.
