I have recently given all my business to Navy Federal credit union. In doing so I transferred a couple of loans which had been open for several years. Recently, I had an emergency to cut down some trees and needed a short term loan. They gave me the loan but at a second tier rate. They stated that even through I have an 800+ credit score with no derog ever that since I had loans less than a year old with them I was "high risk"
I went with them because their rates were better. I don't like their payment options on their app though and if you ask a question through email you get an automated response. I have asked someone to call me regarding this recent circumstance and I'm not a valuable enough customer apparently that someone can actually pick up a phone. Matter of fact I would bet this review gets an automated apology with a number to call if I have further questions. I highly recommend PenFed or USAA. They are definitely more accommodating and have similar rates with more perks.

Most of the contact process was done online. That said, a real life person was available for contact, that I used, and the event that there were any questions or issues. The process was very straightforward.

Why do you keep soliciting me to apply for a credit card if you don’t approve me.???? I have 2 navy federal accounts. Checking and saving. I will cancel one now and move to another bank. The next time you solicit me I will cancel the other account. You are a predatory lender . Very unfair and unfortunately bad customer service.

I was trouble logging into my account to make a payment and when I called customer service the women I spoke to did not seem confident helping me. I didn't time it however in had to be 15 to 29 minutes to handle something that should taken 5. When she finally completed the transaction, I asked to set up auto pay and she fumbled for a while before telling me she couldn't set it up. THANKS FOR YOUR REPLY, HOWEVER I WOULD HAVE AXPECTED SOME HELP WITH MY ORIGINAL PROBLEM OF SETTING UP AUTOPAY. IT SENDS THE MESSAGE THAT YOU DON'T REALLY CARE!

The customer service is very patient and they listen and get anything I need solved. They make sure I’m satisfied with everything before the call ends. They have a lot of benefits and im very satisfied with them as a new member.

The people were terrific. The computer experience could use some tweaking. It wasn’t always clear who we were dealing with, at each step in the process our contact changed. At the same time, it wasn’t always clear exactly what we had completed and what currently needed to be done. Overall it has worked out beautifully.
thanks,
Rodney and Helen Johnson

Well at first I didn't think that I would get approved for the card but they were the only ones that approved me for a credit card. I thank them for the opportunity and I love my Navy Federal Credit Card.

This is the second time we have taken a mortgage with Navy Federal. The first time was a breeze and a pleasure, this time it must have been done by someone new. She didn’t have a clue, lost or misplaced documents , took months to get this closed when there was no reason for it other than not seeming to know what she was doing. We had to jump through hoop after hoop which was not the case with our first mortgage on the same house which we were just redoing.

I really appreciate that thoroughness and responsiveness of the loan officer and processor we had during this homebound process. Rhonda and Lauren were extremely helpful with helping us understand the steps of the mortgage process as well as answering any questions we have regarding estimates required documents, etc.

This was the worst experience with a bank I have ever had. NFCU’s incompetence throughout the process was mind numbing. I will continue to recommend that no one use NFCU for any financial service.
