Failed zipper on pants leg

I bought a pair of pants for a safari in Tanzania, the kind with a zipper around each leg so you can make them shorts? Just a few wears in, the left leg zipper failed and became unstuck. Required constant manipulation to keep the lower half zipped to the upper half. Plastic zippers!( REI uses metal zippers) These pants cost over &100 and of course once you are out on safari there is no where to return or replace. Boo! (PS photo safari no animals injured or inconvenienced.)

Disappointed long term customer

I have been an Orvis customer for many years, and have touted their products to friends.
But times have changed, and so has Orvis quality.

The first Orvis shirt I owned was received as a gift some 15-16 years ago and is still in service. It has been worn and laundered countless times and still shows no sign of wear and tear. That appears to be a one-off.

My three most recent Orvis shirt purchases have been discarded very prematurely. Each one having the seams at the left underarm failing after fewer than a half dozen wear/launder cycles.
This cannot be dismissed as abuse. These are dress shirts and never used during any strenuous activity.
Orvis has become over priced junk.

Stop do not buy orvis waders

Stop do not buy orvis waders. I have a friend that convinced me to buy or is waders because of there workmanship and warranty. I just got back from a fishing trip and my left booty leaked. Not a lot but my sock would be damp every day. I called to get them fixed or replaced. Guess what they no longer repair or replace my waders. I have only used them maybe 10 times and there is no apparent damage so I can only assume it is a workmanship problem. I paid almost $500 for them and they are no better than the $200 generic brand. He did offer me a $75 dollar gift card so I can buy a $425 dollar pair of waders that don’t last any longer or has a better warranty than the generic brand. Duh!!!

I bought a pair of trousers

I bought a pair of trousers. I paid with my credit card and waited. The package arrived, I opened the bag
and orvis sent the wrong size! I called and was told to send the trousers back and they would send another pair. I don't have a printer and I can't print the label they sent. I was told they would send a prepaid label in the
ground mail. I waited and waited, no letter came with
a prepaid label sticker. I paid for shipping to orvis
sent the package and waited. My package to orvis
came back to me marked "RETURN" now I have to resend the package with the pants that orvis sent me that were 14 sizes toooo small!!! I ordered a size 44 w,
orvis sent a size 30waist!!! The person I talked with at orvis said that it was my fault because I must have "refreshed" my page.... so, they just send the size they think will work or what... I disputed the payment of $145. with my credit card company until I could get my
money back from orvis to no avail. I can't print the proof I need to upload to the card company so I guess I am out $145.
I am disabled and can"t stand or walk without help and I don't like to bother people to go to the post for me.
So, I'll just have to bare the loss and never buy from orvis again. The one thing I can and will do is leave
a one star rating and tell my story on every review site I can find. I hope orvis chokes on my $145!
Do yourself a favour, read the reviews about orvis BEFORE you buy from them.. then DON'T!!!!!
I was told by a lady in the orvis store that the imported
items orvis sells are from Viet Nam, China, India, and
other low paying countries! Think of that! That's some mark-up!
Imported from Viet Nam??? I am a vet that was in Viet Nam. SHAME on you orvis....

Had purchased a carry-it-all rod case…

Had purchased a carry-it-all rod case they run 220 from an Orvis dealer when I received it was missing the shoulder strap I was told from the dealer to contact orvis directly so I did was willing to purchase a shoulder strap at that. So I waited two days for a reply and what came back shocked me as I have many orvis products I was told nothing they can do for the removable strap that clips in they offer nothing! So I was surprised to this brand new bag that is yea nice but no carry strap! Well ok I’ll keep the case I won’t return it for nothing because they won’t return do I got it from a dealer ok I get it so for me orvis dealer or Orvis direct has lost a customer for life I will no longer support a company like this!!

Excellent Customer Service at Pasadena…

Excellent Customer Service at Pasadena location

Just wanted to say that all these negative reviewers are tripping. I had an excellent experience dealing with the Orvis team at the Pasadena location. My jacket purchased was too big, and they exchanged it no questions asked. Super easy and now I have the right sizing for my Barbour jacket.

Wish I came here and read the reviews…

Wish I came here and read the reviews before I order a $109 shirt material and stitching that was made like junk and a M fit like XL...I returned it and they deducted $22 from my refund...if thats what your looking for, go ahead order something from Orvis

BS Return Fees

Ordered an expensive pair of Barbour Rubber clogs. Ordered a size small bc there are only whole sizes. Clogs are swimmingly huge. Sending back and have to pay Return Shipping Fees. Money for Nothing! I'm finished shopping with Orvis. Amazon will put you out of business! Good bye.

not good do not thrust then when it come to your order, cancel the order without notify, and the worse is that they do not care for your business at all.
so, watch when you do make an order you may get it or you may not even, so they provide an order number
having an order number does not mean you will get the product, and they customer services even worse does not care.

NO NOTIFICATIONS,NO NOTHING.

In mid November I ordered a gift for my brother’s December 12 birthday. They said it would be there in 3 to 7 days. I called them on December 13 to find out why he hadn’t received it. That’s when they told me they’d canceled the order. “Supply chain issues”. THEY HAD NEVER NOTIFIED ME THAT THEY CANCELED THE ORDER. Thanks Orvis, for ruining a birthday.

Unreasonable return charges

Ordered a belt and the Orvis was smaller than various other brand 40" belts I have. I reordered a 42" which was fine, but my refund deducted my original shipping cost and charged return shipping charges. A nearly $20 deduction in my refund total I received today. Given other retailer free shipping and free return policies I won't be ordering from Orvis again.

I agree

I agree. I once considered it an upscale brand but their marketing turned me off.
I received a catalogue a few years ago and every model had a tattoo.
I’m not judging anyone with a tattoo but no one in my family, including my children, have one.
We are a conservative , educated upper middle class family that shops for quality and support companies that share our values.

Too bad, it was once Iconic but is making its move to the masses, poor quality and a woke mentality.

Orvis Lost A Customer

I just came back from visiting the Manchester, VT flagship store and was very disappointed! The store has no more gun library and no real stock for wingshooting gear! The layout is opened up which is nice but it is geared to fishing and very expensive clothing made in China! Whom ever they hired to change their marketing made an error. I have alway's been a valued customer here for years. I went to check out the casting ponds and feed some trout they have and walked into a land mine of goose poop! DISGUSTING! I wish they had their land scaper clean the logs of goose crap around the ponds. I hope they clean this up before a fly fishing class starts???? I will not be visiting ever again!

Don’t waste your time!

I stopped by the ORVIS flagship in Manchester, VT last fall with my wife and was aghast at the drop in quality and selection, throughout the store. What was once a wonderful source for clothing, house items and outdoor equipment is now a joke. It appears that the new generation of the Perkins family does not know what they are doing and running the iconic brand into the ground. Very sad indeed!

I used to like Orvis. Team Simms now. Here’s why…

Interesting how difficult Orvis has made it to give a review for them. In a world where transparency is pivotal to businesses of all industries, somehow Orvis has managed to keep a lid shut on honest, peer reviews. And now I see why. As much as I love their products, their customer service has sadly disappointed. I understand supply chain issues. Although 6-months is a little extreme for an order placed in March as well as multiple “falsely-promised” shipping dates, I’m most surprised that they claimed that they’ve listed on their site this whole time that the item has always been set to ship in Sept and that they leave it up to the customer to decide whether they want to wait that long. I’m shocked that they put the ownership on their loyal customers when orders get delayed over and over again. I wanted to like this company, especially because I grew up watching their videos on YouTube, but I guess I’m #TeamSimms now!

Poorly made “durable” plush toys

I ordered two of the Orvis plush squeaky toys for my 4.5 month old Bernedoodle puppy. He and my friend’s dogs played with them for about an hour before the fabric had torn and the guts of the toy were falling out and I had to take them away from the dogs. These were advertised as “durable toys.” They absolutely were NOT DURABLE and were a waste of time and money. Orvis will accept a return, but they stick you with the return postage after advertising “free shipping.” Very disappointed and won’t be buying any more Orvis products, as I can’t rely on their descriptions of their product, and I don’t want to be paying shipping costs to return inaccurately described and poorly constructed items. The description on the website says “ Endearing and durable, these plush Animal Squeaky Toys promise long hours of fun for your dog” and “Durable Tuffut Technology® construction.” Not accurate and certainly not worth the money, even at the discounted rate of $20 each.
