Very disappointed in a customer service…
Very disappointed in a customer service experience on 6/11. I called two days after my package was suppose to have been delivered. I was told it would be delivered In another 4 days. Minutes later a neighbor brought my package to me. So, I tried to point this out and to infer this was another tracking system problem. I thought that they would want to know. Now the guy said he shows it was delivered and contradicts himself again. To this date, I never got a notice that it had been delivered. The guy started out being breezy, saying whatever. When I tried to point out the errors, he became quite defensive. I would have thought that Orvis would have been above this.
Terrible Ordering Experience Online Support
I ordered 2 very expensive dog beds from Orvis, which they said were in stock at the time. Fast forward a few days, and the delivery date was pushed out an entire month. I just check on the status since it was supposed to be delivered 2 days ago, and again, delayed yet another month. No update emails, no apologies, nothing. The burden was on me to try to figure out what's going on. I sent and email through their website asking what my options were, received an email back with an alternate, and said "fine". Then, out of the blue, a second email from them saying they had cancelled my order and I had 24 hours to use a "free shipping" discount code for a new order. What? Seriously? Sooo bad.

I regret making a purchase from Orvis. Paid $22 total shipping for two over-priced shirts of poor quality that had to be returned.
Huge decline in quality of dog bed…
UPDATE: Was finally able to reach customer service and they were going to send me a new dog bed cover but then a few days later sent me an email saying (the dog bed cover was out of stock but take 20 percent off another item on us). I promptly called them and said "Do you have the cover in another color?" They did and I finally got my much higher quality dog cover. It pays to be tenacious
Huge decline in quality of dog bed covers and non-existent customer service are shocking after years of ordering dog beds from them. The last platform dog bed arrived with an attractive but low quality cover that was not double sided as they usually are. The zipper came apart after a couple of months. Sent documentation as requested but judt got radio silence

I don’t know how they can advertise 100%customer satisfaction. This was actually my second dealing with Orvis Customer Service. The first time was in the fall of 2021, and the representative was helpful although rude after he understood what I wanted. My son received an Orvis vest as a gift which was too big. I called today to try to set up an exchange and because I didn’t have the order number, was told that it could not be exchanged. So much for “customer satisfaction”. Now I am stuck with a $129 vest that doesn’t fit.
Terrible company ethics
Terrible company ethics. Absolute abysmal material for the prices. They go out of their way to hide the composition of their clothing so you don't know how low quality it is until you're wearing it. Return policy is a complete joke.

False fabric content on Left Bank Coat
I bought the Left Bank double knit sweater coat #GE24NT. The catalog says it is Merino/nylon/alpaca/silk/cashmere/spandex. Calling it a lush merino/alpaca blend. When received, the tag inside states that it is 30% wool, 35% viscose, 35% nylon. I spent a considerable amount of time sewing snaps on before I found this, so I don't think I can return it. I only wanted natural fabrics, this is disgusting. I have always loved their quality, but now I don't trust them.
Good products, "meh" service
I actually really like the clothing and gear Orvis sells. It's pretty good stuff.
My issue is with their service, I'm working on my FIFTH phone call to customer service about a return. I live overseas at an APO destination and need a USPS return label instead of a UPS return label. I call the nice and polite folks at Orvis who are sympathetic and appeared willing to assist. They assured me that the label would be sent to me right away after the phone call. This occurred for the first, second, and third phone calls with no label or explanation given, simply apologies when asked what happened. Since I spent quite a lot of money on this order, I want to make sure the return goes through, so I persist.
Eventually, I paid $47 to return the clothing myself, and complained to Orvis about it. They again feigned sympathy and offered to refund my shipping costs. That was four days ago and I'm still waiting on a follow-up or any communication regarding the matter.
I wrote all this just to say, be careful if you anticipate having to work with Orvis's customer service!

I received a refund for my shipping costs. Happy to close this incident on a positive note.

Very Tough Animal Squeaky Toys
I purchased the Trout and Frog Animal Squeaky Toys for my two small dogs (mini size). I also have two large and one medium-sized Australian Shepherds that love to tear the stuffing and the squeaker out as soon as they get a new toy. Well, these toys can co-exist with all five dogs! They have yet to pull out the stuffing or the squeaker and I've had them for 10 days now. It's a new household favourite and I will definitely be purchasing more from Orvis.
Rubbish company,do not use
Haven’t used Orvis for many years so I thought I would treat myself to a new belt,ordered it Tuesday by PayPal.Phoned customer service to complain about delivery charge of 5.95.Was told that is their standard delivery charge.I queried that at that price it should be a quick delivery,told it would be delivery middle of next month.After reading all the complaints I wish I hadn’t used Orvis,certainly won’t be using again,rubbish company.
Orvis has succumbed to selling cheap
Orvis has succumbed to selling cheap, tacky, tasteless over-priced trendy crap that every other so called outdoor retailer has succumbed to. I can't bear to look at their website as most things are just so ugly and tacky. Orvis was my last option for casual outdoorsy tasteful clothing until the past two years when their product selection and styles began to resemble that of a cheap big box store. I now shop for Orvis clothing and other products on Ebay.
Another thing that really annoys me is that they claim to be conservation-minded and yet they sell clothing made of plastic fibers that are polluting our oceans, rivers, streams and drinking water- not to mention the plants and animals. They try to convince people that recycled plastic fleeces are better BUT they are NOT better for the environment. Recycling clothing with plastic in it ( spandex laden pants, etc..) is an intense process that pollutes even more and those recycled cheap garments will still end up on the coast of Africa in a few months.

I have spent a lot of money for many years with Orvis. Recently ordered 2 Barbour products...they sent the wrong size on one pair of boots and when I called about the other pair ..they informed me that the other pair is not availalbe. If they dare charge me for the boots I sent back, I will write another review. Orvis is disorganized and offering products they either do not have, or the delay in shipping is months waiting time. They spend all their money on fancy, constant, weekly catalogues advertising products they either cannot get or you can wait for months for. I will never give my business to them any longer.
Unreliable delivery date information from Orvis
I ordered a pair of Khakis from Orvis 07/20/2021 which were back ordered with a delivery scheduled for 08/2021. In August I chatted with Orvis customer service and got a new delivery date of 09/09/2021. Today, 09/16/2021, I chatted with Orvis customer service again and was given a new scheduled delivery date of 10/22/2021. Beware, when you order from Orvis you may have to wait several months before you get your product. I like their products but find it unacceptable that when product is order a reliable delivery date can not communicated to a customer at the time of order.

You get to pay to return the wrong item !
I was shipped the wrong item - totally wrong color - of a polo shirt. I went to the Orvis return webpage. It did offer "wrong item" , however, you go on to the next webpage and you are offered the choice of getting to drive to an Orvis store (about an hour away) for FREE! - or - pay $6.95 for a shipping label! I have spent about 2 hrs on 2 phone calls to finally get a supervisor to email me a free label. NEVER AGAIN. I'm done with Orvis.....

Terrific Customer Service!
I purchased a pair of wading boots in 2013. In 2021, after limited use, the sole came completely off the right boot. I contacted Orvis and asked if they could do anything, given the age of the boots. They sent me a mailing slip and I sent the boots off, expecting a coupon or something in return. Instead I received a check for the full amount of my purchase. Not many companies would have handled my situation so expeditiously and generously. I have had nothing but positive experiences with Orvis and plan to be a customer for a long time.
Poor Follow through on refund.
Purchased a product from Orvis, but size was wrong. So purchased the same product in a different size. Paid both times. Got return authorization and sent the original back for refund. They received it on August 17th. Have failed to refund thus far, using a Covid 19 excuse for not opening the package for 48 hours (as though that will prevent Covid spread). Then the excuse that they don't work on the weekend (product was received on Tuesday). Then, it can take weeks to process a refund. And that was backed by supervisor John, after chat with Darla. All in all, a poor excuse for a company which is supposed to be tops in customer service.
1 Star is way too much credit
1 Star is way too much credit, but I can't leave a comment without choosing one. Just purchased a Orvis Encounter 8 WT. flyrod combo from Amazon.com. I blame some of my content on my not researching Orvis more. I grew up in the 60's through the 80's really feeling that a Orvis flyrod set was the elite as it gets and could never afford one, although I loved to fly-fish for trout in rivers and streams throughout NY, PA and OH. When I received my kit the first thing that caught my eye was the rod was made in China! Sorry Orvis but I'm done with your product. I will donate it to someone who does not mind this fact and move to a USA made product.
