Do not buy from Orvis!
They sent me 2 Barbour vest instead of one. I was charged for both orders. They were mailed to me separately so I was charged for postage on one of the orders. I returned the extra vest the day I received it. Now, it has been 3 weeks since they received the vest and I have not been refunded. I have now called them twice and they have told me that I was refunded immediately but my bank has no record of the refund. DO NOT buy from Orvis. They are a cluster. I had to exchange an item from Nordstom and I received the order back in 2 days later. I recommend you use them.

Getting charged for their mistake
Most you you ended up here like I did because of the terrible customer service of orvis. I bought a coat from them and they sent me the wrong size. I called them and in order to get the size I ordered, they were going to charge me again, then I would have to send back the coat, only then once they got the coat back I would get refunded for 1 coat. (keep in mind until this point, I would be charged for 2 coats, when I had zero and this would take a couple of weeks to do this.) So instead I just purchased a new coat to and sent the other one back. Well they charged me $7 or so in shipping to send their mistake. I have called many times and been told I will be refunded my shipping charges. They've never came.
Im a big believer in second chances but orvis is probably on their 5th and falling flat every time. Take your dollars somewhere else.
Edit: I did call one last time and finally got to someone who did get that refunded, that was the best customer service I have had from them. I wish they wouldn't have to have waited until the 7th time time I called to get something done.
This is not fiction. My day with Orvis Customer Support
I spent two hours today with Orvis customer service and got absolutely nowhere. In fall 2014, I purchased a pair of tweed women’s gloves with a leather back in the Manchester, VT store. I put them away until I would have something with which to wear them. I put them on the other day, started my car and, upon turning the wheel had explosive shocks in my fingers. Off came the gloves. Upon putting the gloves on again, the same thing happened.
Customer service could not find a record of my purchase and said my last credit card purchase with them was in 2006. Well, last year (2017) I ordered a navy quilted jacket at their store which was to be shipped to me. Both of my sisters-in-law were with me and can attest to this credit card transaction because I did not have $200 in cash with me.
Here are the remedies the customer support suggested: (1) put vaseline in the gloves and it will protect your hands from shocks. This was from an actual person on their telephone line. (2) go back to the car dealer and see if the leather steering wheel in my car could be causing the shocks and (3) donate them to someone. This gem came from their chat line rep who also referred to the shocks as fireworks.
I took pictures of the gloves both inside and outside showing the Orvis label with its registered trademark and the label with proper cleaning instructions and sent them via e mail today . I was told I his would go in my file and I could send the gloves back to them at my expense. When I asked to speak with a supervisor, I was told the supervisor knew my plight, but would not call me back.
I should mention that my family and I visit the Orvis Manchester, VT store every Black Friday and usually drop of fair amount of money there.
Finally, I was asked what I wanted. Two things actually. Tell me why this happened with the gloves and send me a gift card refunding my purchase price which was, if I recall properly, $39. Why would I continue on for such a small amount? A MATTER OF PRINCIPLE.
I am sure there are people who try to scam businesses about returns but I can recite exactly where in the store I found these gloves and the exact description of the two other items I purchased that day. From reading the other reviews on this site, I can tell the customer support team was just enforcing the party line. Let’s man up, acknowledge the product was defective and do something about it. I used to like shopping at your stores.
Shop elsewhere.
i sent my fly rod info repair on July 2 following all the instructions on the website. According to the shipping receipt, it arrived at their facility on July 10. I got confirmation from Orvis that it was received on July 17. On July 23, my card was charged for the repair. According to the return site, I would not be charged until my rod repair was complete and rod was shipped back. On July 30, I call customer service because I had not receive my rod nor any word that the rod had been shipped. I was informed that my rod had not been looked at yet and I was not charged. I explained the charge and then was told that they changed their policy and I was paid and i should receive my rod in a few weeks. After 6 weeks, I had not received my rod, I emailed customer service with a copy of the charge and the delivery confirmation from them. I was told I would receive a call in a few days regarding my issue and then my e-mail was blocked. After a week of no phone call, I phone customer service again and they informed me that I was indeed paid and my rod would be done the next week. he stated that because I used the website and did not take the rod to an authorized dealer, it caused a delay. After a total of 10 weeks, i did receive my rod (website promises 4-6 weeks for a repair). On Nov 20, I received an e-mail stating that i owed the balance for my rod repair still and I needed to make a payment. I responded immediately to that e-mail with a copy of the e-mail conversation with customer service which included a copy of the charge on my bank statement. This was obviously ignored, I received a letter dated Nov 29 that i still had the balance due. I have faxed the information to them, as the letter requests Hopefully, they will stop trying to overcharge me further. I have spent a lot of time and frustration dealing with customer service, which has nothing but the companies interest in mind. they showed no concern or either the product they sold nor the customer they are trying to overcharge.
Just got off the phone with Corey from…VERY DISAPPOINTED - FALSE ADVERTISING - Don't fall for their catalog B.S.
VERY DISAPPOINTED! False advertising. Who are they trying to bulldoze? Do not buy anything from the website or catalog, because I just did and was told that although it appears as such in writing what the product looks like, i was told it will not be delivered the way it looks. It says "as appears" on the website AND in the catalog, but I guess I won't be receiving the item like it "appears" - do you smell fraud? I am from the area where Orvis is from. Their quality and customer service has declined. This is the last order I will have placed - very sad. Bad customer service. Extremely sad. They have gone very downhill.
Poor Customer Support - EDIT: Orvis addressed it!
Customer support advised me that I was ordering a replacement of dog bowls with one SKU (it says bowls, plural, in the description). I received only one bowl and reached out to customer support who was was defensive and somewhat condescending.
It’s unfortunate because I’m a lab owner and love all their Labrador decor but I won’t be shopping here again.
EDIT: A supervisor came over my e-mail describing the above and they are sending me an additional bowl at no cost and are addressing the issue with the team.
Do not trust reviews on orvis website
Do not trust reviews on orvis website. Orvis does not allow reviews under 3 stars for any of their products. I have tried posting several reviews for a product I was not happy with. Each time they are published, then removed after a 5-10 days. I have made sure my reviews fell under the accaptable content as defined by Orvis.
love the warranty replacement program
love the warranty replacement program! so simple and fast!
close my account
I have asked you several times to remove my name from your mailing lists but I am still receiving daily emails from you.
For the record you are the most persistent advertising emailer i have ever encountered and I am fed up.
Your marketing methods have had a negative effect, perhaps you should review them.

products are decent but overpriced
products are decent but overpriced. My continued concern with Orvis is their haphazard shipping policies. They give you tracking numbers and those are only to the post office. Add 2 to 3 days to that.
I will never shop at Orvis ever again
I will never shop at Orvis ever again.
I, as well as most of my family, have used almost exclusively Orvis fly fishing gear for decades. We always shopped at Orvis because they are local, high quality, and always cared about their customers.
Last September, I purchased a 5-weight Recon at an Orvis Outlet. 8 months later (in early May), it snapped in half during normal casting. After multiple calls to this outlet and Orvis headquarters, they refused to do anything about it. They instructed me I could have it repaired by them for $250-$300. Saying because it was an "Outlet Item" it had no warranty.
I always shopped exclusively at Orvis because they stood by their products, however, I will be purchasing a Sage in the next few weeks unless Orvis makes it right. The rod they sold me (for over $300) broke 8 months later, obviously from a manufacturer defect, and they want to charge me $300 to fix it. I am probably going to use that $300 to purchase a Sage rod instead.
Very disappointed in a once great company.

Overpriced products and miserable service!!
I have been fishing for many, many years privately and as a guide in Colorado. Most of my fly-fishing gear is orvis and I love most of my purchases except for a few, and especially my last experience. I purchased a "Tenkara" fly rod and it arrived broken.
When I called Orvis, I was told by "Stephen", the Orvis "expert" that my product wasn't broken, I just didn't understand the product because I "needed to watch their video". The rod was never replaced.
Orvis has burned me a few times but this is the last straw for me. I assure you I am more than competent to determine whether a product is broken or not, and this is the final insult I will tolerate from them.
Save your money, there are better places to shop than this overpriced company and you can get better service from all of them!!!
Since I first posted this review, I had called Orvis asking them to take me off of their mailing list literally 10 times. They have since hit me with twice the junk mail and I have now filed a complaint with the postmaster about this. My opinion of them has only reduced and they can never earn my respect again.
HORRENDOUS AVOID AT ALL COSTS
HORRENDOUS. AVOID AT ALL COSTS. I APPLIED A £50 GIFT VOUCHER. THEN THEY TOOK THE FULL AMOUNT FROM MY ACCOUNT ANYWAY. THEY REFUSED PAYPAL EVIDENCE. IN THE END THEY INSISTED I RUMMGE THROUGH OLD STINKING GARBAGE BAGS TO RECOVER THE CARD. AND THAT EVEN AFTER ADMITTING THEIR GIFT CARD SERVICE WAS FAULTY. UTTER DISGRACE.

100% Unconditional Warranty... isn't.
$500 for a duffel bag. Yes it lasted a good long time, but it was a gift from my school teacher father when I got out of the service. He spent $500 on a duffel bag specifically because the salesman touted their 100% unconditional warranty. After more than a decade of use, the canvas at one end split courtesy of airport baggage handlers. I contacted Orvis about an exchange... and was told the warranty is defects is materials and workmanship only! If you dig around enough on their website there is a SEPARATE warranty for luggage, not the 100% plastered all over their pages. Oh, but for a measly $60 + shipping, I can return it to see if they can repair it. If they decide they can't, they'll contact me about "options". Anyone want to bet that the option is replacing the bag with a new $500 Orvis?
My experience with Orvis was…Outstanding!
My experience with Orvis was outstanding. I received exactly what I ordered (true to size and description), in a very timely manner, and was invoiced correctly. Customer Service reps replied back to my order status questions within a hour. What more could you ask for? This is an excellent company to order online with and have shipped to Canada. I will be ordering from them again! - Nicole Perry.
I ordered a jacket
I ordered a jacket, they sent the wrong size, when I complained, they asked if I could try it on anyway to see if the larger size fit.
They never had the smaller size available, and just sent the larger one, it makes no sense.
They pride themselves on good customer service and state they pack all items themselves, yet they sent a large instead of a medium and wasted time getting it back to them and longer again before they sent the refund.
I have never dealt with an online company that was so unorganized

What a stupid company
What a stupid company. I ordered a dogbed and had it monogrammed with my pups name on it. It came without the insert so I call them and they inform me they don't sell just the insert but I have to buy another cover and insert. What a bunch of idiots.
Cheap foreign made clothing
Orvis used to be a premier outdoorswaer company. Not anymore. My goatskin leather jacket hoodie cost $600. Made in India. Poor stitching and material. Feels like a hoodie you'd buy at GAP except it costs $600.

Orvis Definitely Censors Online Reviews!
Orvis does censor customer reviews. I bought $500 worth of Christmas gifts-in December 2017: a men’s coat and a men’s shirt. The shipping took a long time AND the coupon I received (as a first time Orvis customer)was not valid, with my purchase. Convenient for Orvis! The shipping charge was astronomical to California. My attempted review on the Orvis website stated that most companies were offering free shipping, especially after spending a certain amount (definitely after a few hundred dollars). My review was not posted because I “mentioned shipping and a price”. Seems like Orvis only wants the public to read positive reviews, and not a true experience. I gifted them with $500 this holiday season. What did I get? Sorry, I won’t be shopping with them again. Too many honest and gracious retailers out there who value the customer. Please don’t respond with a canned reply, unless you choose to offer me a refund for my shipping. If not, my review stays and I will find another board to review on.

Orvis is the worst on- time delivery …
Orvis is the worst on- time delivery company in the sporting world. I have TWO open orders placed in the summer of 2017 (June and July). It is now December and neither has been delivered. Each month I receive an email saying my order is delayed....and given a new "expected delivery date". My latest one says my items will be shipped in January 2018.
I have talked to customer service several times. Nothing has changed.
I do NOT recommend Orvis. It has been relegated to the status of a fine old institution that has forgotten its storied past.
BTW, this is the worst review I have ever given to ANY company.
