Booked in for an A/C regas. Branch rang me while I was en-route to say the machine had crashed, and that he would ring me when it was repaired to rebook. He did apologise, which doesn’t always happen in these situations. To be honest I did expect that it would be me who would have to ring them, but no, he was true to his word and rang me a few days later. The rearranged appointment was fine; I didn’t get a call to say that it was ready but admittedly I went back to the branch at the estimated time, and indeed it was ready, so maybe I jumped the gun. The car was helpfully backed out on to the street for me. There’s been a change of personnel since I was last there but the service is still good.

I went to the Matlock Branch on the…
I went to the Matlock Branch on the morning of 18/02/26, to ask them to check the size of a new front nearside tyre. This was checked by a member of your staff and I was told they would order it in and it would arrive by 15:00 the same day. I returned at 15:00 to find that the wrong tyre had been ordered and I had to return on the morning of the 19/02/26 at 11:00, for the replacement tyre. When I dropped the car off, members of your staff were using rude language in front of my young children. When I collected the car later, only the tyre had been changed, as there was a problem with the ramp and the tracking test was not completed. When I had paid and returned to the car, I found grease over the seat.
I rang up the Matlock Branch on the 23/02/26, to book the car in for a tracking test on the 25/02/26, to be told by your member of staff that all was well and the car was booked in for 09:00. Upon arrival on the 25/02/25, I was told by your member of staff that the appointment had been moved to 11:00, who then rang me to ask to move it to a later time on the same day.
I have now cancelled the appointment and I will no longer use this organisations services.

I have been a loyal customer of Matlock Protyre / Selecta Tyre for 19 years. After two occasions within five months of dangerous incompetence and unacceptable customer service, I will never use them again.
Last year, following a puncture, I purchased two brand new tyres online and booked fitting and tracking. The customer service I received from “T” was rude, flippant and openly hostile, a stark contrast to the excellent service I had received for the previous 18 years.
Within less than seven miles of driving away, one of the brand new tyres was completely flat. The branch had closed for the day, so I was unable to return immediately. After fitting my spare and returning the following day, I was informed that a member of staff had failed to adequately seal the tyre. The inside wall of this brand new tyre had worn to the point the branding was rubbed off in under six miles. Even then, the response was defensive and hostile rather than apologetic.
After this was corrected, an immediate grinding noise developed from the same wheel. I returned on four consecutive days to address this before ultimately taking my vehicle to my own garage to resolve the issue properly.
Only the history of previous good service led me to return this year when I noticed a bulge in the sidewall of the five month old tyre. I put my spare tyre on and again purchased two new tyres online and booked fitting. This booking was confirmed by phone 15 minutes before I arrived.
On arrival, the workshop access was blocked by a drainage lorry. Blocking an entire workshop during operating hours, when the entire business relies on access to that workshop and with active bookings in place, is questionable. The lorry could have parked in a way that allowed access. Despite knowing I had an appointment, “T” immediately told me he could not swap the rear tyre as requested because he could not access the ramps. Rather than offering solutions, I was again met with obstruction, rudeness and hostility. I was told I would have to return another day. This was avoidable, as another staff member shortly confirmed the lorry would be moved within five minutes, which it was.
Less than an hour after leaving with the newly fitted tyres, I suffered another completely flat brand new tyre. The branch had closed. In the dark and rain, I was stranded for the second time in the space of 24 hours due to the same company’s incompetence. Air was audibly leaking from the valve. I was forced to use a compressor to limp home.
I spoke with “T” by phone to highlight this issue and let him know what had occurred and that I would be returning. I highlighted the fact that this exact issue had occurred twice within five months and asked what the problem was. He informed me that Selecta Tyre had changed to different valves that were of worse quality and that despite issues they refused to stop using them. However, when I arrived to have this tyre repaired, the problem was simply that the valve had not been tightened on fitting. Not a faulty part, but the failing of a member of staff again.
To add to this, the long standing member of staff who fixed this issue apologised. “T”, who stood within earshot tidying the workshop, offered no apology, made no attempt to address the issue and made no contact.
Two brand new tyres fitted on separate occasions, both failing almost immediately due to fitting errors, is not bad luck. It is dangerous incompetence.
The decline in standards at this branch is stark. The hostility, lack of accountability and repeated basic fitting failures have cost them 19 years of custom.
I strongly advise others to avoid.
