Easy access. Great to be able to pay an upgrade on my partner's full membership as I only need to visit once a week. Very clean and tidy, very low music playing - not intrusive at all, have sensory processing difficulties I often find gym environments too stimulating to feel safe and comfortable.

So small
So small, not worth the money.
With the price increase this month to £28.99 I've cancelled my membership, in my opinion it was barely worth it at £15 let alone this new price. The gym is tiny, with only 1 of most equipment, there is no open space to use for mat workouts when there are classes going on as the only floor space is taken up with them, which limits the times you can visit if this is what you wanted. The treadmills face a plain brick wall which is nothing like I've experienced before. Alfreton isn't a massive town I admit, but there are lots of connecting villages and I'd seen so much online with people saying this site wasn't going to be big enough, and I'm afraid they were correct.. I don't know who looked at this space and thought it would be sufficient, but when you look at the sites in Mansfield for example the difference is night and day, and they well and truly missed the mark with this site. A real shame for the community, but also the pricing structure is a bit silly, Mansfield is 4x (if not more) the size and a fraction of the price at circa £13. I understand it's new, but it's nothing spectacular at all so the price is honestly not justifiable at all.

Small , not worth 10 quid sat ticket. Hardly any weights, no machines, tiny gym.
No mirrors. Weird layout.
Staff who look like they never train or diet
Weird vibe in there.
Don't waste your time

Prior to Alfreton PureGym opening my membership included 311 sites across the UK. It’s needed as I travel up and down the country throughout the week. Alfreton is currently closer to my main base though so the convenience is good for me, but I had to pay an extra £7 (£34 a month) to access it. To my disappointment it is more a PureGym Lite than a full PureGym experience. No dedicated changing rooms, no hydration station, limited equipment and very little space. The location is good, but to charge what they charge is hard to stomach when places like CastleMarina is four times as big and costs less.
Going forward they need to bring the price down, and put in an hydration station. After all, what’s the point of the + membership if you don’t even have the basics of a real PureGym experience.

Entering the gym without 1st installing the app and having a QR code to hand was a palarva. The gym wouldn’t let me punch in the code into the keypad. So this took 10mins trying to resolve.
You also need a QR code to exit the gym which worries me, as my phone doesn’t hold charge. What if I am without phone power? How am I getting in or out of the gym?
Inside the gym itself, I was surprised to find only 1 x rowing machine. Treadmills facing a brick war doesn’t make for a motivation run. Would definitely recommend you turning your treadmills so they are facing the gym when working out. Would make it more sociable.
There wasn’t foam available anywhere in the gym for the long weight bars. Which made it incredibly uncomfortable for the bar to sit across my shoulders when doing squats.
I didn’t notice any CCTV. If there is any, I would prefer for there to be a visible security system- as a deterrent for any potential harassment or issues inside the gym. Not being able to see CCTV and with there being no staff on, made me feel vulnerable.
For this reason I wouldn’t feel safe visiting the gym outside of daytime hours; which renders the 24/7 opening time useless for me.
The lack of equipment inside the gym does not justify the monthly membership price. For this reason and all the others mentioned above, I will not be signing up.
Plenty of machines and lockers to put stuff in and hot shower afterwards.

New gym at Alfreton so nice and clean currently , lights are a bit bright , coloured leds would be better to create a better , more motivating vibe rather than bright white light , need 2 more bench’s for one side of power racks , water fountain needs a down pipe for bottle filling , but overall a good start
