Female toilets are disgusting!!
I use the gym every weekend and dread having to go into the female toilets. They are a total mess with toilet roll all over the floor, or even worse on some occasions there has been no toilet roll available in the toilet cubicles and not a single member of staff around to help. The sinks are vile and smell like sewage and they have been like this for a long time! The smell is enough to turn your stomach!!!
Most recently, the hand dryer has been out of order, so instead a soaking well roll of blue paper towel has been put on top of the bins to dry your hands - disgusting and so unhygienic! I now take tissues to the gym with me just in case and carrier sanitiser so I can actually clean my hands properly. This needs to be sorted ASAP - management just don’t care!!!!

Great gym
I have been going to PureGym for some years now mainly for health reasons, and have found the experience satisfying, and good value for money.
The Basildon gym is my favourite gym I am able to use all the equipment I need and very seldom miss out, the air conditioning is the only issue for me, not very cool when using the cardio machines, there are windows open at times which effects this issue but I think the air conditioning is only working to about 70% of its capacity, especially in the summer.

The changing rooms stink of sewage
The changing rooms stank of sewage and smelly bum bum. After raising the issue with management no action taken. Still unresolved.

Up the temperature of your showers…
Up the temperature of your showers someone is not telling the truth to its members as it is conflicting staff say head office have told them lower temp amd head office say they have not all i know is they are tepid at best and run cold or pressure drops alot during shower this never used to be the case someone at hesd office should try a shower there for themselves i pay enough for my membership and that should include a decent hot shower ,also the hygiene in general in changing area lockers ,showers and toillets are poor

We have recently made slight changes to the shower temperatures, to 33 degrees, both to control our energy usage and to reduce our carbon footprint. All member feedback is reviewed, and brought to the attention of our Facilities team, who regularly review any changes we make to our gym facilities, and we would like to thank you for passing on these concerns.

Been coming here for 3 years and now…
Been coming here for 3 years and now and only now I feel that they have given me a reason to make a complaint/review… first and foremost it’s a good gym hence I been coming here for the past 3 years though I do use RippedGym as well, secondly I don’t understand the ventilation process in the gym, recently they have bolted all the windows and no air con around the treadmills which I just admit it’s not only unhygienic but also very uncomfortable when you are in mid run and need a fresh of air, we aren’t in prison for the windows to be bolted nor are we in a sauna for there to be so much heat/no ventilation. Completely wrong so I hope the manager can do something about this because it’s poor period!!

We pump over 2,000 litres of fresh air into our gyms every second though our ventilation systems. This helps to dilute airborne virus particles and ensure members have clean fresh air to workout.

Chose this gym because of the range of…
Chose this gym because of the range of weekend classes that were available as I am unable to attend during the week, very disappointed to now find that there are no suitable classes at weekends and no sign of anymore classes being added to the timetable
I’m now considering changing to a different gym that has a more varied timetable

Good gym. Value for money
Good gym. One concern, There needs to be more clips for the cable machine. Some machine lack handle clips and are basically useless when the gym is full.

Good choice of equipment. Clean, tidy. All I need from the gym. Two Hours free parking and 24 Hours so extremely flexible!

Underage gym goers
Still under 16 using the gym despite this being mentioned a few months back.
Shouldn’t be down to me to inform management. Management need to be checking 13/14 year olds using the weights!!!

After reading the bad reviews
After reading some of the bad reviews I felt like writing one myself, nothing is perfect and for what we pay the staff and trainers do a fab job. The trainers are not there to pick up after members where they leave equipment, this is down to users to place back,
My experience at PureGym has been positive the trainers are knowledgeable and push you beyond what you thought was possible. I have been using this gym now for 2 years and I’am the strongest and healthiest I’ve been since children and probably even before, the trainers are friendly and supportive in classes the trainers make the gym one of the best ones I’ve been too,

General Concerns
I have been going to this gym for over 2 years now the decline in staff and attention to detail as opposed to other puregym’s is quite alarming the weights are constantly scattered and hoarded by both users and personal trainers alike there is no enforcement of hygiene where other puregyms enforce putting back weights into the appropriate section. there is also a lack of equipment where i find myself looking for one attachment for quite a while before it is available to me. find that over the last few weeks this has gotten progressively worse and whilst the price is good it should not reflect the poor standards set in this gym

It is in the gym rules that members should return their own weights or risk suspension, but at peak times especially it can be hard to police this. However, staff on site do everything they can while we also have CCTV monitoring the free weights and are looking for new ways to combat this.

Poor Hygiene - No working sinks for 4 weeks
Majority of team really friendly. Good selection of kit.
Main things to let gym down is cleanliness and tidiness. Weights left all around the place especially when visiting early morning and nobody ever tidies up.
Cleanliness is generally poor with little/no sanitising spray and over flowing bins. To top it off there have been no working sinks in the men’s changing rooms for 4 weeks now and no sanitiser. The nearest sink to wash hands after using toilets is the single disabled toilets.
Pretty much sums up the lack of urgency and pride a lot of the team take (not all)

its okay but can be better
good gym layout, I gym at night time (midnight-2am approx.) but my biggest issue is that it isn't clean. it is a mess, weights left around, bottles, mugs and used tissues/wipes on every machine and rusting weights. The vending machines also do not work with Apple Pay. it isn't very inviting. but it is my closest gym. it has so much potential to be better.
