My gym is always clean and have a very inviting energy . I turned in this morning for the 6:30 am class even though it was just me and I hadn’t booked. Callum the manager made sure the class went on . And kudos to the new PT Mary who took her time and explained some better form to me . Using this time to say Welldone to the other 2 new PTs, John and John, very passionate about their jobs.
And to Keith thank you for always being reliable .

I hope this is reconsidered and returns. As for mind class at 10:00 am doesn't really work meaning not many members attend this.

My experience at PureGym Birmingham West
My experience at PureGym Birmingham West was great because the team was supportive, the onboarding was clear, and the busy environment helped me quickly grow as a Personal Trainer. PureGym does well at creating an inclusive atmosphere, offering flexible working structures, providing high member footfall, though continue support and development opportunities for new PTs could make it even better.

The manager Marlon was extremely rude
The manager Marlon was extremely rude, he threatened to kick me out of the gym and put hands on me because I was simply helping another gym member. This is a community gym where we are encouraged to help each other and support each other. I find it very difficult to understand why this assistant manager felt so threatened. I feel disrespected, this also promotes bad mental health and bad self esteem as you are not encouraging people to talk amongst themselves without being questioned. VERY UNPROFESSIONAL. Especially after he physically threatened me.

I’m struggling to understand why a big chain gym like pure gym are not able to fix air conditioning system?? I mean it’s a gym is it not a requirement…people are working out getting hot, it stinks and it’s unacceptable. It took about a week for notices to be put up advising that there is no air conditioning which is a joke in itself but it’s been nearly 4 weeks now. No offer of compensation, members just have to accept it. So poor, it feels like it’s a neglected gym, which is a shame. This is not a reflection on the PTs there also, as overall my experience of them has been positive.

Great gym, but cleanliness needs serious attention
While I truly value the accessibility and convenience that PureGym Birmingham West offers, as well as the dedication of the personal trainers and staff who go above and beyond — whether it’s returning weights, tidying up equipment, or positively impacting individuals by helping them make life-changing habits — I feel it’s becoming increasingly difficult to ignore the overflowing bins, consistently unpleasant changing room and toilet conditions, and the multiple layers of fluffy dust that appear to have settled in for a happily-ever-after with the equipment.
Despite the tireless efforts of both PTs and professional cleaners (often seen working during the busiest times, no less), the persistence of these issues suggests a gap not in individual effort, but perhaps in the systems and oversight guiding them.
While it’s easy - and convenient - to blame it all on “certain members” who might lack basic spatial awareness or the social grace to tidy up after themselves, we can probably all agree that a few bad apples shouldn’t spoil the entire gym barrel. The rest of us, after all, are just trying to get through our session without having to tread carefully between discarded paper towels and scattered litter, or navigate changing rooms with all the charm of a neglected motorway service station.
I completely understand that people have different needs, and I remain sympathetic to both mental and physical health considerations - but let’s also be honest: basic hygiene and cleanliness shouldn’t be a 'luxury' we’re expected to go without.
At the very least, members deserve clear communication and transparency about what steps are being taken to address these ongoing concerns. Whether that means implementing more consistent cleaning routines, allocating better resources, or offering the occasional polite nudge to those who seem to think gym etiquette is optional, we - the members - would gladly welcome a shift towards prioritising a cleaner, safer, and more functional environment for all.
I share this in the spirit of wanting the space to reflect the standard that PureGym Birmingham West once was - one that supports all members in feeling motivated, safe, and yes, even a little inspired.

Pure gym review
The standards have dramatically gone down but the membership keeps going up, make it make sense, the equipment is on its last legs, the ladies showers and toilets are disgusting, I seriously don't know what I am paying for.
