A Fantastic Local Gym That Ticks All the Boxes!
I’ve been a member at PureGym Chelmsford for a while now, and I can genuinely say it’s one of the best decisions I’ve made for my fitness. The gym is clean, well-equipped, and welcoming, with a great variety of machines, free weights, and functional training areas.
What really stands out is the atmosphere—no pressure, no posing—just people of all ages and fitness levels working towards their goals. The staff are friendly and approachable, and the classes are a brilliant way to stay motivated (BodyPump is a personal favourite!).
It’s open 24/7 which makes it super flexible for my schedule, and the app makes it easy to book sessions and track progress. Whether you’re a complete beginner or more experienced, PureGym Chelmsford makes it easy to feel confident and keep moving.
Highly recommend it if you’re looking for a gym that’s affordable, accessible, and genuinely supportive!

Have used this gym for a number of…
Have used this gym for a number of months now with mixed experience. Gym provides a friendly environment to train but I rarely see PTs and gym floor can frequently be untidy with weights left scattered around. I would like to see more experienced PTs who have a presence and engage more with customers.

It is in the gym rules that members should return their own weights or risk suspension, but at peak times especially it can be hard to police this.
However, staff on site do everything they can while during staffed hours and we also have CCTV monitoring the free weights.
We are looking for new ways to combat this too.

changing rooms smelt like urine and feces
toilet was blocked with feces and toilet paper
attachments left all over the floor (health and safety hazard), bottles, cans and toilet paper all over the floor, floor looks like it hasn’t been mopped in a while so

Great but need attention
The amount and time is great but place need to keep tidy more specifically the toilet and locker room. I think as it’s so busy place it’s important to extend the shower and toilet area.
Also equipment needs to keep eyes where I have found some of them wasn’t working.

I was a bit skeptical about using…
I was a bit skeptical about using Puregym in Chelmsford as I was a member of another well known gym that costs more but was constantly busy in the mornings. I figured PureGym would be even busier, however because they PureGym have a rig set-up in Chelmsford, there’s plenty of places to do squats and deadlifts, bench and other compound exercises. Combine that with a great functional fitness floor, I’m hugely impressed with the PureGym set-up in Chelmsford
